Drama braving the Indian Himalayas on a motorcycle

- A roadside repair, a wrong turn, nose picking, snacking and some epic Himalayan mountain passes make this a fun day in India. This is part 6 in a multi part Himalayas motorcycle adventure riding the Royal Enfield Himalayan and today we take close proximity to the Chinese border at Pangon Lake.
We left the Diskit Eco lodge homestay in Nyoma with enthusiasm for the 123km shorter day ahead, our bodies a little weary from the 11 hours days so far. Stopping briefly for snacks at a small rustic bazaar followed by fuel, we were ready for the two mountain passes ahead.
I could not even begin to tell you how many twisty corners and hairpins we enjoyed. We relished in the fun of the off road “short cuts” that take a more direct route up / down the mountain cutting off tarmac miles, with one particular dusty straight line cutting 24km of wide sweeping hair pin tarmac kilometers off our total.
A mid day event or entertainment came with a missing nut on my bike. Poor Ruckymonster was in fix it mode, while Fluffy and I just seem to be messing around. Thankfully we always carry our Teng Tools and spares to get repairs done.
Arriving to Pangong our bellies were hungry so we dived into what turned out to be a very fancy restaurant! Absolutely delicious. The £250 a night room was a stretch, so we headed closer to the lake and found a gorgeous boutique homestay with log cabins, hot running water, 24 hour electricity, towels and freshly washed bed linen, oh and a bonfire!! Heaven. The Rangjon Pangong Resort was a gold dust find and by far the best we’ve experienced. Even reflecting on the food makes my mouth water!
Day 6 (9th June):
Nyoma - Pangong
Total time: 7hr 21min
Riding time: 3hr 56min
Distance: 105 miles / 170km
Max altitude reached: 17,800 feet
Mountain passes/Road/Highway Names: Kaksang La, Satatho La

One little correction in the video, in the Rangjon resort at pangong lake, you were atleast 40 kilometers from chinese border not a few 100 meters. Pangon lake is 140 kilometers long and about one third of it lies in india. You were well within the indian border. Cheers!!
It is not chinese border. It is aksai chin. Illegally occupied indian Land by chinese in 1962 n some recently. INDIA shares border with Tibet not China
@@reachnagIt is"illegal occupation" only from the Indian perspective (just as Pakistanis say Kashmir is "illegally occupied" by India). For the rest of the world, Aksai Chin is at best a "disputed territory" between two countries. Also, India's claim over Aksai Chin is derived solely from the territorial claims made by the Maharaja of Kashmir . Neither Kashmir Maharaja nor the Indian government ever stationed any troops in that desolate land.
Hi guys, everyone that seems to have one of these 450 Himalayas seem to be very happy with them. Royal Linfield has come along way. I like the sound they have a real throaty sound when you get into it sound fantastic for a small bike. I think they’re great and for everything that you are doing over there in India. I always carry a zip ties. You can carry metal ones and those PVC plastic zip ties. Amazing what you can tie up with them I don’t think you need anything bigger keep up the good work always enjoy the videos , Cliff from Logan City Queensland Australia 🇦🇺 , we are on the big island
They are super incredible, absolutely nothing like the old ones, it is a whole new bike in my opinion. I will be putting out a full review video in the coming weeks, so stay tuned for that! Thanks so much for watching and I am glad to hear you are still enjoying the videos hehe thanks for your support all the way from the big island 😉
You were absolutely lucky to get that resort near pangong lake. Most resorts get full via online booking during that time of the year. We reached pangong by 11 am but didn't book any hotel & by evening everything was booked. Hope you guys did pangong-leh along shyok river & khardungla pass.
Please do visit Sikkim it's a second smallest state of india, where you can enjoy the mountains and the Himilayans regions and many more Sikkim is one of the biker destination in India Nepal, Bhutan. Please do Google and come to explore here. Thank you
Maybe one day I will get the chance to return and explore further

This one was brilliant Vanessa. The take away here is always keep some spares with you if you can. Always carry some nuts in an easy to access bag is one. The lock wire fix was a great idea from Mr Rucky Monster. I have to mention the great unveil of the Teng Tools tool roll by Fluffy had me laughing, such great presentation from the TV of days past. Good advice for keeping err... reducing.. body stench while staying warm was worth a mention as well. If you have any doubt of hygiene you may want to wear a protection layer but be polite as a full hazmat suite could offend (unless it's nicely decorated with nice things. Top notch editing and drone footage as usual. You guys work so well together maybe you could consider adopting Fluffy A.K.A Anika to the channel. She's been a great addition to this and previous channel videos including the Dakar Rally and others.
Génial comme d'habitude un véritable plaisir de vous suivre 👍👍👍 !!!
Wise words about simple lodges. They do fit into this region. Despite having to wear anoraks at night ;-) Happy days, Günter/Nürnberg
Haha
I feel a bit sad everytime your vlog ends…we want longer vlogs lol…i am vicariously living through your travel videos…i would love to visit ladakh one day.
You are border with Tibet which is illegally occupied by China.
The is no physical border with China and India in entire history of both civilizations because Tibet always acted as a buffer zone but it is changed when China invaded Tibet in 1950.
Amazing video! Cant wait for the next episode.
10/10 video. It’s my first time on your channel so I’ll have to go all the way back and start watching so I don’t feel too left out 😅
Haha yey! Thanks so much for watching and I am so glad to hear you enjoyed it! Make sure you grab some costco sized popcorn if you are going to go back that far hehe plenty of videos on my channel to keep you busy, plus a new one every Sunday evening! Wooo!
Pls correct Title. Either it Aksai chin at LAC or tibetian border where Internacional border is there. LADAKH SHARES BORDER WITH TIBET in small section, remainkng all Aksai Chin
Diskit Eco Lodge folk stand by their unwashed blankets 😂
lets not make fun here. have you seen any water source near nyoma ? honestly everything in ladakh espesially eastern ladakh is brought from lower altitude. ladakh is not luxury trip it is adventure remember that.
@@nileshjoshi4232it was said as a joke. What has you wound up so badly? You own the place?
Himalayan 450 uzun turlar için yeterli mi? Tavsiye eder misiniz?
Yes it is
Yes. It is truly Himalayan for Himalay.
I always carry Zipties with me. The have hundreds of uses. Just a week ago the bolt on my left foot peg rattled off so I used zipties to hold the foot peg on. My friends numberplate fell off and we ziptied it back on.
💯
Enjoying following the journey great video.

Yey that is so good to hear! Thanks for watching and following along
Beautiful background 9:18 ,
Riding in terrains like these you have the nights & food for 'survival only' must br clear to all who wanna do such rides... people get judging too soon....
You doin a great job ❤
And for those who still fantasising to do it...get in the Survival Mindset if you wanna explore Ladakh beyond Leh or any other similar terrain, in India or overseas...anyone who plans to ride know that I guess...
Happy Riding!!
Thank you! Mega appreciate you watching and for your informative comment hehe, glad you enjoyed the video
@@TheGirlOnABike Congratulations on the new adventure Ride!! God bless... Enjoy the journey
Awesome 🙌.
Yey thanks for watching
Welcome to India 💓
thanks
@@TheGirlOnABike are you coming in Rajasthan, jodhpur.
Brits get lost even in Germany and Poland using Garmin. The best use of a GPS in India is simply to get your coordinates. Then you plot your position on a proper paper map and plan your route.
Edit: We love that she has made a videos about what to carry in a tool roll but has forgot to bring basic spare nuts - except for the ones in the snack bags. You can't make this up 😆😆😆😆😆
😅😅
Marvellous ❤
❤❤❤
A Indian man I knew the first thing he did when he bought Maruti was to pu it into a garage and get the mechanic to tighten all the bolts and nuts which puzzled me at that time.
Makes sense
Awesome 🙂👍
Yey thanks for watching
@@TheGirlOnABike my pleasure 🙂
"chai tea"....doesn't make sense.....either you say "tea" or "chai"......"chai tea" is like "tea tea"....chai literally means tea in hindi/Urdu. 😊
Oh interesting! It has different meaning in the UK, chai seeds create a special flavoured tea, and therefore you have chai tea like you may have green tea or peppermint tea etc, thank you for the information! Every day is a school day hehe
What a real Queen 👑
Is like Bright Beautiful Gracious fun loving 🔟 ❤❤❤❤❤❤
Aw thanks

There is no such thing as chai tea, either you call it chai or tea.

“Boarder”🤦🏻♂️
Hehe ooops
Spectacular.
But a bolt working loose (due to inadequate maintenance) is "drama"?
"Broken down" Really? Click bait.
Fortunate you had that man with you! 😁
Bruh, at that altitude, bike problems do be drama
chai tea 😖😒
Uh oh
@@TheGirlOnABike I mean it is either Chai or Tea. Chai is the literal translation of tea or vice versa
Thank for jammu region🇮🇳🇮🇳
You are welcome, thanks for watching
Great vlog ,although you should try out different chicken and veggie dishes in india . Afghani chicken, various south indian veggie curries next time 😊
You forgot d best...d absolutely delicious Pork 😋 dishes widely available across d beautiful/diverse 💚 North-East India as a part of unique cuisines. Also fish & seafood in d costal & riverine areas. India is so much more than d stereotypical vegetarian curries, after all vast majority of Indians r non-vegetarians & d food vary widely from one state 2 another across d vast country.
Sounds great!
