    We motorcycled a 1000 KM's across the Himalayas
    Day one of our 1000km 5 day journey we travelled 140km from Leh, the capital of Ladakh, to Nubra Valley crossing Kardung La pass at 5359 meters.
    Khardung La pass used to be the worlds highest motorable pass, almost the same height as Mount Kilimanjaro and Mount Everest Basecamp. Today it is the 11th highest with the highest also in Ladakh at 5799 Meters.
    We are not experienced bikers and driving they tight cornered single lane passes with big army trucks passing you grinded my nerves but an experience that is unmatched.
    The scenic views of the towering mountains, green valleys, decorated trucks, incredible locals and spiritual grace of the mountains on the way to the highest altitude cold desert of Nubra Valley tamed the nerves. Double hump backed camels, archery, Swiss camp tents and a night around the fire in the peaceful Nubra Valley was the best way to end off the first day on the road.

      I’ve heard from somebody when we were there how much it has just developed in the last few years and how far it has come so quickly.
      So I do believe India is just going to get better and better day by day. It has such smart, hardworking, supportive and kind people, just look at the moon landing on the south the other day.
      I just hope the culture and traditions remain in its full glory as well 🤗

    Welcome to the oldest surviving Civilization on Earth with recent archaeological evidence of human remains from Rakhigarhi(Indus Valley civilization town) points to it being 7k-8k years old.
    Earlier the safest estimate of Indus Valley Civilization was 5k but now it's another 3k years older.
    If you take into account the Epics of The Ramayana and The Mahabharata then it's anywhere between 15k-20k years old.

    Hi beautiful video. I was planning Ladakh trip with renting motorbike but I was reading that you cannot self drive to the sightseeings such as Nubra valley or Pangong cause the local taxi drivers get aggressive. You have to go only with tour. Did you heard anything about it while there? I will greatly appreciate any insight :)

    • @KinfolkTravels
      @KinfolkTravels  2 місяці тому

      Hi! There was a lot of people that we saw doing the bike trip that weren’t in a tour but they were all Indians. So it is easier if you are Indian and can speak the language.
      You can visit Nubra valley and Pangong lake on your own, you just need the correct permits. Make sure you get them
      In Leh and then you shouldn’t have problems. If you don’t have them you won’t be allowed to go through the different security checks.
      We didn’t use taxis or see any so I can’t testify to that but the people of Ladakh are incredibly kind. So I can’t imagine them being aggressive, unless it’s people from other areas in India that work in Ladakh for the season.
      But to be honest never saw a taxi. Only busses and the people are locals so very nice.
      Hope you can make the trip and have the best time 🤗

    Do you experience how well you are being treated in India because you are our guests.But the sad part is when Indians are very nicer to the foreigners , they are not nicer to us when we go to their countries like uk us South Africa etc etc .They treat us like third class citizens everywhere 😢

    • @KinfolkTravels
      @KinfolkTravels  3 місяці тому +2

      I can’t agree more and it is really sad.
      I’ve seen this over and over time and time again with a few different places. Similar to Turkey or other middle eastern countries where they treat foreigners with such kindness but when they are foreigners in other countries they don’t get treated with respect. India as well
      And even some Asian countries.
      I’m really really sorry about this. More people should get out of their bubbles.

      Thank you for the feedback. ☺️
      It’s however not that easy when filming an active adventure like this in a very uncontrolled environment.
      Using an iPhone, insta360, GoPro, and a rode they all have different mics with different quality. Adding natural environment on a bike, wind, altitude etc etc it’s quite hard getting levels the same 😅 and then a different one again for voiceovers recorded while traveling and not in a studio or perfect environment.
      Thank you for the feedback something are working on to improve. Sound is a very hard thing to get right. And adding uncontrolled and different environments on it you need some really good gear or a sound engineer to get it really good.
      I have an immense respect for sound engineers they are insane! 👏🏼

      @KinfolkTravels  3 місяці тому +1

      100% agreed. This is not an adventure to take lightly or just jump on.
      That’s why we opted to do it in an organized tour with a guy in the front and one in the back for incase anything happens and that can guide us on the roads with their incredible knowledge.
      Also why I opted to be on the back of the bike, Jared has driven bikes before so is comfortable with it, but not regularly and nothing to this extend.
      People should also be careful because it’s long days so you do get tired and you have to stay 110% focused so you have to be comfortable with a bike.

      @@bishalghaley I’m sure you have enough labour force. It’s just in many other countries we’ve been to a lot of the construction work is being imported from other countries such as China because the tenders for these projects are won by China or other companies from other foreign countries.
      So it was interesting and pretty cool that India keeps a lot of its construction projects local and that the projects are done by India and Indian labour.
      These days you don’t see that often for big projects.
