For the beginner knitter watching this: 1x1 rib = knit 1 and then purl 1 repeat this for four rows. 12 rows in stockinette = knit every odd row purl every even. Knit to two stitches before the marker ssk = slip slip knit (slip two stitches onto the other needle and then knit those two stitches together) repeat this twice. Knit to the last two stitches and ssk. Next row = purl. Repeat these two rows four more times. K2tog = knit two together till the end. Purl two together in the next row - 6 stitches total and then seam the hat together

Hey UA-camrs! I already commented on this but I tried it and I have some pointers--the first time I tried it I thought it was a little small so I made a few revisions! I used a 10 US needle for the entire hat. I also cast on 44 stitches and did 2x2 ribbing. To make up for the extra 6 stitches I ssk every 10 stitches--leading me to drop 4 stitches every knit round. After that I followed the video and ended up with 8 stitches at the top of the hat but the seam was still perfect! The size is great and the pom is adorable :) Great video!

What size head would you say the hat fit after your revisions? My son was born 9.5 lbs, so he was a pretty big baby and already wearing 0-3 month clothing and I wanna make this for his cousin who is gonna be big too.

Just tried this and made an adorable hat - thanks! I am a beginner and the video helped but I also had to download the pattern and look up abbreviations and other videos on how to decrease etc. I didn't end up with the same number of stitches as the tutorial but I improvised and it still turned out fine - just a tip if some of you are thinking this is a little fast for beginners!

I got half way through and got stuck after the markers. Beginners need things explaining to them, so commentary would have been useful as apposed to music.

    Great tutorial!!!
I am a beginner at knitting and this was only second project and it came out great!!! I did go to your website to download the pattern and that helped! I also only counted the stitching when I cast on and when I marked the 12 stitches and it made it easier than just counting them all as you had them labeled. Love this little hat and will be gifting it to a friend thats expecting a little girl soon! 😊
