- So you want to know how to BEND The RIGHT WAY on guitar, well that's what this lesson is all about. Most, if not all, of the world's greatest guitarists use bends in their playing; Dave Gilmour (Pink Floyd), Steve Vai, Eric Clapton, Jimi Hendrix... But maybe most famously, and the guitarist who popularized the technique, the great B.B. King - He was the "King Of Blues" for a reason.
Each of these artists used bending in such a way their guitars "spoke". They went beyond just the everyday licks and riffs that are core to any guitarists playing and added this technique to take them to that next level. There are so many things we can learn from these incredible musicians, and this is absolutely a lesson worth digging into.
If you want to take your playing to that next level, make sure to internalize this lesson.

Everything By Gilmour is Gold for Bending Practice
👍🏻Comfortably numb…
@@denselman the Solo of Another Brick in the Wall Part 2, the Intro of Shine on You crazy Diamond, the Intro of coming back to Life and much more of David Gilmour's feeling for bends in his playing. Greets and shine on ☺☺
@@alexanderwalther7302 I learned to bend on Parisienne Walkways. Started playing e-guitar 2 months ago, my bending got pretty clean because even the very first note is a massive bend. perfect song to learn imo
yep, and phrasing
@@theenki8387 Thank you! I had never heard it before
You made me laugh my ass off with that ”Ayla sound, wee-wee-wee” 🤣
This is some sad SpongeBob music and I love it.
Hey, that's funny! Lol 😁

Your teaching method; and warm, welcoming, smile, on top of it all, helps make what can often feel like an insurmountable mountain, suddenly attainable! A great lesson, is all.
Very helpful:) Thank you (:
Wow, thank you 😀
You are an old soul , with much heart and soul ,patience and joy, remind me of old friends from the 50's, 60's....much love and success!! Peace
Your videos are so, so good. I've been playing for 34 years and I'm learning things from you. Your presentation style is excellent.
No matter what tutorial I watched on how too bend none of them actually taught me how. They all left me more confused than when before I pressed on the video. I am getting the intermediate stage of my guitar playing. So bending was next on my list to get to that stage. This video helped me so much! I can bend up too two notes! I've never done bending properly until I watched this video. Thank you so much Ayla you have helped me so much!
That gold pick guard on black is sick!
You are a gifted teacher (and player), with an engaging personality. Thanks for this lesson.
I'm a beginner at bending (been playing less than 6 months), and over the last 2 weeks I've probably watched 30 different videos on bending, and I still wasn't getting it. THEN literally a day later this video came out, and I knew Ayla would save me...and Alya did. So dam good at teaching. We're lucky to have you!
I am beginner too. Are the strings touch the wood when you are bending?
@@guardianobserver6593 Yes.
Ooh, great passionate and heartfelt playing that inspires me as a guitarist and very helpful specifics in the instruction with clear modeling of using reference pitches and training one's ear.
This is the best beginner guitar channel in existence.
you are just super cool and spunky, and an awesome guitar teacher and you make me smile cause you smile and that is what music is all about, thank you for these lessons, and please keep them coming
Vielen Dank.
BB King taught the world that that less is more. Its not the speed but hitting the right notes which evoke right emotions!
You are an amazing teacher, thank you for sharing your wisdom .
Great teacher!!
Thank you Ayla!!!🎸
Let the good times roll
Awesome teacher love!!! Thanks A bunch 😁🤘
Very good lesson , building muscle memory ..🎸😎
Top lesson, thanks😀
Thank-you that was explained and demonstrated well done.
using a tuner to bend 🤯 love your tutorials ayla ❤️

Great tutorial thank you very much
Ayla, desde que encontré tus vídeos no me pierdo uno solo, saludos!!! ☺️
Another great lesson 👏 🙌
Awesome lesson and thank you for sharing your amazing tips 👍👍💚💚
u happened to post a video on bending, when i was actually learning this on my guitar class yesterday. Right place at the right time.
Perfect, I hope this helps!
How did your class go?
@@danieli.9252 pretty good actually, thanx for asking.
Vey awesome video Ayla!
You will develop the strength to bend if it is more difficult on that particular guitar or your fingers are not that strong yet. I bended snares on an acoustic guitar only and I did not find it a problem. It is like when you start playing and the fingers hurt because you have no callus yet. After a few weeks it already it gets a lot better. The body adapts, it just needs some time to get used to it.
Omg thank you.
My ears are good i know when im at pitch my problem is anticipation i know it's coming and i always over / under compensate.
I never thought about finger pressure. It's so intuitive when you think about it.
You are such a great teacher. So much appreciation for what you do.
Fave bending song is "Since I've Been Lovin' You" by Zeppelin. Not that I can play it yet - that's why I'm here!
You’re AWESOME!!! ☯️
A few years ago, a journalist asked Eric Clapton if he still practiced after playing all these years. His answer was, "Yes, I still prcatice bending." So...there you go. Cheers, Ayla!! :)
Right?! Its such an incredibly useful skill to have!
@@MusoraMedia Oh, yeah...plus hammer on's and pull offs, and sliding up to or down to a note. All those little things that put so much more emotion into a song, and helps it sound like the human voice singing! Cheers! :)
@@mmccartney6579 yep, and vibrato
Nice job, thank you
Nice video! I love listening to old Allman Brothers songs especially the first 2 albums. Duane and Dicky Betts were great together.
Bends. One of my favourite guitar techniques
I am working on Ukuleles, Acoustic guitar, and now a shiny new bass guitar. A lot at once I know but this will help on all of them!! I already play many other instruments but kinda new to strings... Thanks.
I like your videos and your friendly nature 😊
Thank you 😊
Yuuuuuh thats some cool guitar slide alternative
Thank you👍 🙏
esta mujer es una belleza 😍, es muy simpática y tiene una voz maravillosa, tan joven y toca la guitarra eléctrica con una Maestría perfecta.

Thanks for your lessons they are. Good #Uganda
Very nice
Impressive left hand strength!
You are extremely talented and explain things very well. I greatly appreciate your connect. SUBSCRIBED indeed!! Thank You as I'm just learning!!! 😀🎸🎶Cheers mate
thanks
You are a great teacher. Hats off to you. Do you have any exercises to strengthen the pinky? Obviously, the pinky is the weakest finger. I want to improve my leader guitar playing. Thank you.
anyway great lessons thanks
Your strat is so cool
Just discovered your channel and lovin' ya content!
Glad you enjoy it 😀
Using a tuner is good advice! I made fast progress in intonating bends when I used a permanently-on tuner. A head stock tuner might eat batteries and mostly they are auto-off. The Peterson Strobostomp Tuner might be expensive, but was the only tuner I could find that stays on, doesn't mute, and has an easy readable display so you can check your intonation with peripheral vision. An app may also work.
I use an app called Chroma...I've found that very useful
I love that guitar
Well explained, a hard technique to nail... still struggle with it
your skill and personality make you impossible to not like. i hope you cover more hendrix stuff on your other channel soon
one note song by tenacious d, has my favourite bend in it, it's genius
I like the part where you added the overdrive! Thanks 👍👍🎸
yeah, so many great tunes with bends; something by beatles, sultans of swing solo, black magic woman by ayla tesler mabe; very cool stuff.
Go girl good ideas from you
Geeze..Your Guitars R SET UP REALLY , REALLY WELL. Going Up 4.?!!! Well Done. U have Nice Fenders
Sounds Hawaiian like a steel guitar, your bend to pitch is outstanding
This young lady is a technician with the guitar. Thats why i keep coming back. Also she is good on the guitar, and of course beautiful young lady, and best guitar teacher online! Im ready to go!
i must master this its all i wanna play for.
The headstock tuner is such a great Idea 💡
Seriously. Never thought of that
I understood how to bend. But I could bend to 3 frets but not 4 frets. I practice more. Thank you so much.
Try some lighter strings. They tend to sound brighter and make bending easier.
@@dezmodium Thank you so much👍
Is there an online course, you're doing? Could you do some how to read music lessons aswell? Thanks for you're great content!
I see Ayla I click
This is the happiest person I've ever seen!
Best lesson I’ve seen on this subject yet. Thank you for keeping it simple for us guitarded folks 🙏🏼
I hope one day even I can play ! Thank you!
Hi Ayla, I find that if I'm bending up the G string for example, I can sometimes snag the string above and it rings out when you release. I've been playing for a couple of years; is it just practice or am I doing something wrong? I've tried to use my index finger to mute the string above and bend with fingers 2 and 3. Any advise would be appreciated.
The bending at the very beginning sounded like a violin. Crazy.
I'm okay at bending, my problem is knowing *when* to do it. When I'm just fooling around I never know when to use bends or slides, and every time I do it just doesn't...flow? If that makes sense? Would you consider doing a video on how to use bends and slides in improvisation?
Madam, this video is worthy viewing thank you very much.
if like im used to certain string gauge let's say 10... and i practice bending ok i get it right but then i decide to change string gauge for example 13 or 9 wouldn't that affect the bending? like in 10 i need more effort to bend in tune but in 9 or 8 i need less effort how would i be able to pick up any guitar with any string gauge and bend in tune?
At some point, and not to take away from your magnificent channel, please talk about Calpurnia and working with Finn Wolfhard. Just curious how that came to be is all.
My wife is very bendy and I have no problem with that, but when it comes to guitar strings I have struggled with the bends. Hopefully these suggestions by Ayla will help.
Gilmore in "Mother", the extended version. Maybe in "Like a Rock"? (Bob Seger band)
you make thinkiing the song sleepwalk by the shadows
That Stratocaster looks like it has a super low action.
Great lesson.
Hey, maybe you oughta consider oh, I don't know,...teaching this stuff or something. Lol
Whenever you bent up 4 half-steps, I couldn't help but think the string was about to break! (On my guitar I'm sure it would have.)
It might help to get a new set of strings before you attempt to do that then
I allways touch with the strings the wood of the neck when bending. I don't know what I do wrong. How is possible to touch the Fret with the string in order to have clean sound without touching the wood (like in normal playing) ?
Nice lessons but where is your fender jaguar
Off subject:You're hair is so beautiful. Hope you're doing well and hope to hear more from you🔥🔥🔥🎸🎶🎵
I'd like to see some worship guitar lessons please if it's possible
Bravo Ayla🌷《☆》Searching by Lynyrd Skynyrd is a fun bender. The song starts with a high gain LesPaul bend. The live at⛾Knebworth🤳1976 version is my favorite😎🎱☮🔊🖖👍
12:34 the Ayla sound
Yes!😂🙌👌
ACE FREHLEY!!! #Bending
I love her❤️❤️❤️
I finally thought I'd found the video I wanted about bending a guitar, but alas, it was only about string bending
You play exactly the way I would play if I was better at guitar.
I love You❤️❤️❤️❤️
If I'm not wrong?when the note is in whatever pitch you're going for it should be at it's loudest?
At least that's what i think I'm noticing?
But i definitely notice pitch to resonace ratio.
If you can't tell i have no idea what im talking about.
❤
Gr8 lesson string action can make a difference too .. if it's too low easier for fast playing but a very slightly higher action is easier .. Plus you can practice with your strings tuned down a little from Standard .. it's not against the rule's lol Rules what rules ? There are no rules only guidelines & generally accepted Normal way's of doing things .
Mind if I ask : Do you usually push the strings parallelly , or do u go under the strings you are't playing ?
