You explained something that has completely bamboozled me for a very long time in a simple understanding way that every other UA-cam teacher has failed. Thank you so much 😊
This is the first time I’ve come across your channel. Yours is, quite simply, the BEST 👌explanation about triads I have ever seen. You are a very gifted teacher and should have 100s of 1000s (or millions) of subscribers. I wish you every success and phenomenal growth. You deserve it. And learner guitarists deserve you! 😎✌️
Nice break down of triads and how they are laid out across the fretboard. It took me years and years to understand the value of triads. My life as a guitar player could have been a lot less frustrating if I would have learned this lesson when I first picked up a guitar. Beginner's take note.
As someone who's been dabbling at guitar for years, I found this to be one of the clearest tutorials I have ever seen. Way to keep it simple while being immensely informative.
Very good; he starts mapping the fretboard and ends up revealing the caged system. Let me tell you; I'm no beginner but I can say that this guy is a great teacher for those that have just entered the guitar rabbit hole, and are nervously learning how deep it goes.
Thank you !! I know some triads but this video has really made things so much clearer for me showing how triads connect to chords and CAGED shapes.. Good job. I can't wait to watch more of your videos. Craiog Ewinger
Another fantastic lesson. You are incredible at explaining in a clear and concise manner. I saw a comment on the first video of yours that I watched only yesterday that said you are the best guitar teacher on UA-cam. I'm only 2 videos in and can already say I've learned more from you in such a short space of time than I have from any other channel. Much appreciated!!
I think this is likely the best pattern video for triads I've run across. Combining this with knowing the root or learning the notes of the chords is great. Thanks for posting.
I love playing triads and the open, airy simple sound it gives players. Your video was very informative. I've been playing for 24 years and it's always great to learn new ways of seeing.
Your series and everything you do is awesome. You really do take the mystery out of it and you make it fun and open up opportunities to play in different ways or to look at music in different ways. What a gift thank you.
Hey brother. I’ve been trying to understand triads for a long time. None of the videos I watched clicked with me. I came across your’s randomly. Finally, after spending hours and not getting it, I watched you and everything fell into place. Between the explanation, and the visual charting it seems so easy. Thank you very much for this. You have a new follower.
As someone new to the guitar and in my mid 60’s I found it very helpful in the way you simplified the lesson great stuff I look forward to your next video
Damn, when you took the blue note from 6 to the first string and it looped back to the original blue from the chord I was blown away. Amazing demonstration.
Quite a unique way to teach it, but one of the BEST videos i've seen on Triads. It matches how my brain works. I think it's a must watch if you know a little about triads, but other tutorials aren't doing it for you. This is a great way to visualize the fretboard.
About a week ago I watched your CAGED video. I encourage every to watch it. BUT TODAY I WATCHED YOUR TRIADS VIDEO! CLASSIC! YOU EXPLAING CLEARLY IN YOUR VIDEOS. THANK YOU!!! I will eventually watch all your videos. I will purchase your book soon.
The floodgates of my mind have literally been blown wide open. I too have watched many other vids on this topic but this is the best hands down. I will be watching many more of your videos. I can’t thank you enough!!!!!❤. BTW I love seeing the caged system just appear before my eyes.
Your teaching on the triads and how the caged system is formed is the clearest so far in my opinion. To further add that the triads are formed by the 1st, 3rd and 5th notes of the scale of each note would also be informative.
I am watching this again. I am around the five minute mark. Wish I would have found you or your method years ago. Would have save so much time and money. No one teaches this stuff. Simply amazing.
From reading the comments below I see I am not the one who thinks you made this lesson just for me. I never got it until you explained it. Great minds think alike. Thank you for this and all the other lessons on your channel. Big thumbs up from me!
Somewhere around 9:00 my head started to explode. Now, I have played for many years, mostly self taught, and know the different chord shapes up and down the fretboard. I have never used the term triad, though I of coarse knew of it. This video eventually gets you where are going, but with all the colors, and thick string/thin string, and this is the same as that thing, it got to be overwhelming to watch.
I wish I found this video earlier in my guitar journey… But I’ll still claim a success, as any lesson is better for reinforcing what knowledge I have about any subject. This video is well thought out and extremely useful for visual learners. It takes a simplistic approach without applying an abundance of music theory. For any beginner, that’s a major plus. Mad kudos! I’m subscribing!
This is by far one of the best videos I have seen on triads and a little about the CAGED system. The concept is new to me but I can understand it because he is a great teacher!
Thank You for a very simplicitic way to move around the fretboard, without getting too overwhelmed with theory. You explained it in a Less is Always More way to keep us from getting too confused, and remembering a bunch of info. Bah Bah Boom !!!
Killer vid, Super understandable. I went to my guitar and started soloing b4 finishing the lesson. (however I did complete.) And I been playing for years. Gonna follow more stuff. Knowing them on piano triads and now able to show on guitar too. PRICELESS. Thanks man.
I have played guitar for almost 50 years. i never knew what double stops were for decades. then i found out it was just two notes, which is what i learned is called a Dyad.
Same for me and I’ve been playing for around 40 years. To be fair, I was about 20 or 25 years in when I learned what they were lol, but still way too long
May i pay tribute… This is for me the very best informative video out there on triads, beautifully explained in a simple manner. I’ve struggled time and time again to understand triads etc, but not anymore.. Thank you..
Wow, amazing explanation. Can you please tell me what software you’re using. I would like to practice this my self for better understanding and results. Thanks mate.
The manner of presenting the strings and their relationship to each other was revelation for me. Now my scales including the various modes are easier to navigate up and down the neck.
This was helpful for me to understand where to find triads. I can see creating the other 3 triads (minor, diminished, augmented) on the same page and then doing one page for each key. Wouldn’t actually take long. The lesson I am looking for would be to relate triads to the pentatonic scale patterns. I can be doing lead and now I want to slide back to rhythm. If I am doing a key of C lead, what would be an easy C, F, G?
Good question. If you're playing in the key of C, use the C major pentatonic scale shape under the C shape chord, for example. Roots on the 5th and 2nd strings.
Excellent explanation. It seems the next hurdle is getting them under your fingers without having to consult a white board. Probably not too bad if you stick to it for a couple weeks. The ultimate goal - and one worth a video - would be how to find chords in close proximity to the triad you are playing. That's when this lesson becomes useful.

Brilliant video, thank you 👍 Only thing I don't understand is the thick thin terminology but I guess the colors makes visualizing the root string part vs the strange 2nd string interval easier.
That was an awesome lesson seriously thank you. I’ve watched a lot of videos about this topic and they seemed a little to much sometimes but this was like triads for dummies and I got the CAGED idea in the same video man much appreciated!!

Awesome now I have an understanding of triads and how they relate to caged system shapes
I’ve just learned why something I already knew, by the nice sound it makes, works. Thanks
