It's wonderful that you have taken up clearing and helping to maintain these old trails; it's easy for them to disappear into the forest. They need care and attention - thank you for doing that. From a former Parks Canada Trail Crew chainsaw operator I do appreciate it.

An average mountain hiker on good trails can climb up and down 3000 feet/1000 meters in a day, a very good one 5000 feet/1500 meters up and down, to do 8500 feet/2500 meters vertical and 10 miles/16 km there and 10 miles/16 km back in one day without much of a trail is extremely exceptional. By comparison, if you climb up the stable, well-defined and vegetation-free stairs to the top of the Eiffel Tower in Paris France, that is just under 1000 feet/300 meters vertical, and about 1000 feet/300 meters horizontal.

I climbed Mt. Ha Ling near Canmore and I was in my 20s, decent shape with a little belly, played sports all my life but when I got to the bottom my legs gave out and I collapsed to the ground. It was the strangest sensation. That was skree hopping on the descent for about 10 minutes and the rest hiking.

Dang! That was a good effort! Did that one back in Aug 2000 as a 3 day trip with 2 others, very similar conditions and weather. No gps, only a map, no technology to help find a way, no online resources. Started at km 60 at a large boulder, went way above Fynn Creek following a forested ridge in. Not too bad for bush. I flagged it but plastic flagging doesn't last 22 years. more like 3! We had the advantage of an early ascent start from camp and hard frozen snow to the top. To get up and back in one day is a hell of a push, so good on ya! Boy, that glacier is sure smaller now than back then. The glacier on Joffre too. Soloed it about 1987 and that glacier looks like a mere smudge of ice now compared to what it used to be. Keep on peakbagging!

And Rocko is definitely in her element. Love how she doesn't care that she's a small dog, she just figures out how to keep going over the terrain. It's also incredible how much energy can such a dog have. I thought she was done on the summit but she was clearly just saving energy to do zoomies on the way down. You two are a really good match.

If you knew anything about the World beyond talking to friends about NOTHING, watching stupid TV shows and whatever it is you see on YT, you would know there are LOTS of people who care about nature and participate in nature sports, be it a walk in a city park or trekking the Alps, Rockies or Himalayas, or any other mountain range. What sort of life do you have, anyway, that you swoon and croon over what F.F does and lecture to the rest of society about how fantastic and how "full" his "life" is, obviously compared to YOUR "nothing" life??? Do you have a boring, mundane, repetitive job somewhere, a boring commute staring at other similar boring people, do you live in a simple residence in some boring city like Edmonton Canada or St Louis USA, or maybe some small town in the eastern or southern USA or the midlands of England? Does climbing big wilderness mountains or sailing a small boat across vast oceans to tropical islands constitute a "full life" to you, because before you saw these things in YT videos and YOU never DREAMED such places existed and you never IMAGINED that some adventurous people actually do these things? I climb mountains but I do not consider THAT to be "living life to the "fullest". For starters, it is dangerous, in case you don't know it, there are 100 things that can go wrong and some of them might surprise people like you such as whole scree (gravel) slopes start to move downhill and taking you with it, and a dozens of other hazards like rockfall, crevasses, electric storms, dead trees collapsing, handholds pulling out, hypo/hyper-thermia, personal injury in a 1000 different ways and low but serious possibility of a wild animal attack, just for starters. How about lesser nature-oriented or "outdoor" sports as they are called, like swimming, surfing, paddle-boarding, canoeing, white-water kayaking, day-hiking, cross-country skiing, mountain biking or downhill skiing?? Do you have any knowledge or comprehension of their existence?? I do all of these things, but seeing as you do not even know there are a lot of people in this world who like and do these things, DO NOT croon and swoon and bleat and pine to the rest of us that you are just "tickled pink" beyond all belief and express publically with what sounds like a GAY admiration that this FF guy "has a life" that PEOPLE LIKE YOU cannot even imagine, just because YOU represent the majority of mundane people in the world, regardless of where you live, but I'll guess, and say it is some average place in everything. Even though I am a mountaineer myself, doing exceptional things in the "Great Outdoors" does NOT mean one has the "fullest life" imaginable, there are lots of people who have "full lives" because they like the arts or science or religion, or mechanical / technical / electrical things, or team sports like football or hockey, or personal sports like golf or tennis, or they travel near and far or have a great home and garden, or they have wonderful children or a great spouse, or a great job or career, so STOP BEING SUCH AN AMATEUR PHILOSOPHER MORON and stop crooning and swooning to what sounds like a GAY LEVEL over who FF is and what FF does like you can't BELIEVE IT and STOP TELLING THE PUBLIC that "he lives life to "fullest" because lots of high-level mountain climbers or small-boat ocean voyagers never see their 40th birthday, in case you don't know that (FF is a scrambler which is half-way between a hiker and a climber). He also does not have a toilet or a shower in that 10 foot by 5 foot van, so i don't consider that to be "living life to the fullest" like you and others constantly bleat on these comment sections with what sounds like wistfully searing eyes about what YOU think is his "amazing and full life" because like so many people YOU have absolutely NO LIFE................. you silly and despicable poor thing.

Oh man, that side eye shot of Rocco at the end! I’m glad you enjoy all this and felt safe. I would have been lucky to get myself up there and back let alone carry a dog and take pics backtracking and while hiking! Love you’re safe and happy and healthy!

Loved it! I'm so glad you keep an eye on Rocco. My cousin hiked the Sawtooth Mountains with his dog frequently, and one day she got herself in a situation. Before he could get to her, it was too late. I would be absolutely devastated if something happened to your girl. My husband I keep up trails in the Boston Mountains of the Ozark Plateau, so I really appreciate your work making safe adventures possible for other hikers/climbers.

Every time is really great. Which is harder on your body, going up or coming down. I climbed only one hill in my life as a little kid, I was about 9, it was 1949 and i think we were in Wyoming, everyone was getting ready for the drive and there was this hill and there were horses half way up and i thought why not, so up i went, not very far and i realized that it was too high for me, so i turned around and thought i could just come down, i sure did like a rolling ball, so as i watch you , brings back memories of my coming down head over heals, Love every minute of your videos. You two make a perfect team.
