- MotoMan kicks off Season 10 with an entirely new generation of one of the most iconic cars on the planet: The Porsche 911 Carrera. The 2020 Porsche 992 looks a hell of lot like a Porsche 991, only one catch: Everything is different, including design - which of course, was changed for function. MotoMan drives the 2020 Porsche Neunefler on Circuit Ricardo Tormo in Valencia, Spain as well goes on a deep technical dive to learn everything about the new Porsche 911 Carrera . . .

I don't think I have ever watched MotoMan and not learned something new about Porsche. Love It! Keep it up! Not a Porsche owner yet, but I will be, that I know.
One of the finest and certainly the most refined automobile in the world. Super presentation that best showcases the art of automotive evolution that the Porsche 911 exemplifies like no other car in the history of the car industry. If there is only one review of the 8th generation 911 worth watching, above all others, this was it. It was the 911 of reviews: historically contextual, technically relevant, viscerally engaging and entertainingly informative. An edutainment production worthy of the perennial automotive icon that is the 911!
WOW! Now even more humbled. Thank you!
MotoManTV Well-deserved. Every other car channel journalist seems to take the evolution of the 911 for granted. Then they inevitably emote a hesitantly awkward or lily-livered expression of impish disappointment for the rarefied predictability of the car’s incremental evolution, which is compounded by their feigned or wistful hopes for dynamic revolution: as if such a posture was calculated to impress, or more likely positioned to resignedly conform. Yet the greatest insult that pervades respecting the ‘Icon’ is that it has become too competent in its function and overly understated in its form, and by extension immoderately perfected to the point where objective criticism appears to be more or less forced or fabricated-how seemingly vexing for the accidental journalist, not to mention the consumers of automotive journalism. (That’s like saying my Patek Philippe watch is too accurate, rather than recognize it for the evolutionary marvel that it is.) The sublimeness of the newest 911 leaves most journalists flabbergasted, which is as forgivable as it is understandable. With the 911 we are witnessing one of the greatest technological achievements of mankind, which is the continuous evolution of an original automotive design, from a bygone era that still retains the power to inspire as well as to compete successfully at the highest levels. This way of doing things in the car industry defies conventional wisdom while at the same time this singular tried-and-true formula enshrines a sense of nostalgia that looks back reverentially and simultaneously drives forward confidently. Most other journalists are painfully hesitant to cast caution to the wind, and wholly embrace the uniqueness of the venerable 911, for fear of compromising their inviolable credibility. It’s always a double-edged sword for any automobile journalist to exercise the courage to give-way, unreservedly, to their instinctive passion for the iconic 911. An ovational or slavish tribute to virtually any car is apt to invite an avalanche of rebuke from fans as well as trigger a potentially irrecoverable cost one’s credibility. Ergo, the art of paying unapologetic homage to the 8th Generation 911, without compromising one’s integrity, requires a blend of studied objectivity, intrinsic justification and factual heritage-all of which the ‘Icon’ can apodictically deliver in spades. With that said you have, in my considered opinion, reviewed the latest 911 for what it truly is: a quintessential masterpiece that is never quite finished, without resort to unnecessary hype or unwarranted detractions-as it should be. Again, my pleasure...my apologies for being long-winded.
Your videos are amazing as always. By far the best car content out there. Your videos have tech, humor, and awesome reviews all mixed in and executed perfectly.
Thank you!
Thanks. Your channel is really the only place to go on UA-cam for comprehensive, accurate and honest information on cars.
Thank you for taking the time to do quality work.
Thank you for noticing . . . Means a lot!
That 996.2 in the shot keeps looking better and better. Small, analogue and totally underrated.
It's a beautiful underated car, remember the GT3 rs 996.2? that car is art
Exactly - in my opinion every generation gets larger, heavier, more insulated and farther away from what made Porsche great. 996 is starting to come around in popularity as the "ugly duckling" 964 did, but remains a fantastic bargain.
I never got the horizontal dash layout either, but that explanation definitely make sense, and makes me start to like it
Thanks for sharing some of the tech details that nobody else has talked about yet. You had mentioned that you were impressed with the turn-in, and didn’t understand why it had improved so much. Other reviewers had explained that it is due to the substantially widened front track of the 992.
It's a bit more than that . . . Will cover the suspension in the coming TECH REVIEW on Saturday . . .
Great review, thank you! Small note: Wouldn't call the S the "base model". Keen to see what that will look/ feel like though, once it is released...
I like how he gives respect to each car company’s culture
Best revue over all comparing to others! 👌👌👌
Always an excellent review. I like the shot of the cut up angle. 🦅🦅🇺🇸
The 50th Anniversary is one of my favs. Porsche just nailed the look of that model .
This is what I call review..from the materials to technology...deep details, thank you
Thank you, Andy!
more engineer interviews please
Just engineers? Something tells me you will like the progression of season 10 . . . :)
What a breakdown! Thank you MotoMan!! Manual!
Loads of geeky stats love it, possible one of the best 992 videos I’ve seen, little things like turbo 4mm increases and alloy percentages!
Excellent review! Only negative I find with the car is the 3rd brake light. I can learn to live with it. :)
I'm not the biggest fan of that either. That huge negative space on the ass is a bit bothersome too; taillights to body work proportions are off. Cheap screens for gauges.
I’ve never heard a turbo motor make such a beautiful induction sound.
Because Porsche has added artificial sound for the first time.
Excellent video, good job
Great review MotoMan
Welcome back, M! Helluva starter for season X! Starting out with a bang. 👌
Ideally, a self contained system like the LaFerrai & NSX would be the way to go, but I have feeling it'll be similar to their E-Hybrid line up. Worst case scenario will be a plug-in system mated to a 4-cylinder engine to compensate for the additional weight from the batteries. Either way, prepare for the visual assault of acid green badges splattered all over the car.
My car is tax-free, M ... :)
Well, technically the first owner paid a tax it for it when s/he bought it new in New York 11 years ago. The second owner paid 5% customs/duty fees when he imported it 6 years ago. We're are the owners number 4.
As always, excellent work, M.
Thank you, Amro . . . As always, great to have you on the journey!
@@MotoManTV cheers!
I'm living in Ireland and have a Gen 2 997 base Carrera PDK. Road tax per annum is €1200 and is based on CO2 emissions. It is the only version that is €1200 of the range, all the rest in the 997 range are €2350 per year. As for electrification, I'm open to see what Porsche come up with Hybrid wise, when you see what they did with the 918 Spyder it shows how good they can make it. As for a 911 and total electrification that is a different scenario. Not sure what to make of that just yet.
Thanks for all the great video's Mr Moto Man! ☺👍💙
Just like what VW engineers said back in the day. We don't make the beatle look better. We make work better. So does the Porsche 911 today.
Can’t wait to buy a cpo Carrera 992 S in two years. Hopefully I can find one to my spec used. Currently own a 981 Boxster S, love that car to death but after you own an entry level Porsche, you just want more... Porsche??! If that even makes sense. Can’t wait to sit in the new interior also. Mines is starting to look a bit dated
He’s bacccckkkkkk!
Thanks for the great review on this new 992 version! I’ve had 911 since 1999 model 996, 997.1, 997.2 (GT3RS). Recently sold the GT3RS. (6months ago). To me, GT3RS gave me the most visceral driving experience, the car was very responsive but good for short 45mins trip. I know the greatness of the new 911s, but somehow Porsche are making it too much of a big grand touring sporty cars. That’s okay. One must look for the GT3 models for more driving sensation. But what a shame that Porsche owner can’t able to see the beautiful engine from Stuttgart!
🦅🦅🇺🇸
Taxes for 911 in Finland seem to be from 62 kEUR to 83 kEUR. Not sure, if u could have a new 911 in any country with the amount we pay as tax alone...
Nice review. love the video
Perfect workshopping for sports cars enthusiasts
Great report, now we know it’s safe to buy one!
Great video as usual; Does it sound any different or louder than a 991.2?
There won't be a better review of this vehicle than this one
Please decrease the loud music volume so we can hear you.
When electrification arrives Porsche will need to particularly pay attention to 3 things: Power will need to be evident in terms of very impressive immediacy and linear delivery( to a point), Range will need to be close to 400 miles to compete with Tesla, Charging will have to be fast, convenient and to hold a stagnant charge for weeks at a time if necessary and lastly Top Speed better be 911 like! Cheers.
Steven Sturgill lol the cayenne hybrid and Panamera already gets 60mpg + some even reported 87mpg+ that is smacking a tesla practicality, I can travel from Atlanta to NYC on a single tank! 12 hours of driving 950 miles of travel and still maybe have a qtr tank left. Welcome to the future!
I'm living in Turkey and we have %160 tax on engines bigger than 4.0 and we have the same tax in electric cars such as Tesla because they put them into luxury class so buying 911 is a great option but new 911 is $440.000 in Turkey
Naturally aspirated + electric motor is the best solution in my opinion.
Maybe that will be a thing in the 992 GT3/GT3 RS?
ABSOLUTELY RIGHT!💯👍🏻
Can we talk some more about that incredible brown interior on that convertible? It was fantastic!
rycuddles yeah I agree, the brown interior looks mint!
Can’t believe you found something similar between a hyundai elanta eco and a 911! That too in the aerodynamics department! 😄
Mercedes also does that. It's not just garbage cars ...
My Dad had a 1968 911L when I was in High School. For some reason, he never let me drive his car.
smart man
Moto you have the Porsche connection!
Love the 992, grew on me from the launch. The retro lines on the hood, arches and that horizontal dash, all cool tributes to the 70's. Not easy to touch the lines of a 911 with every gen, Porsche did well. The old purists on rennlist however are pathetic with their over the top hate.
I agree, the rennlist haters are rather sad.
@@66vapor66 - I'm picturing Grandpa Simpson yelling at clouds for some reason. Some people don't like change, that smell of righteousness is a disease.
I’m not a Rennlist hater but don’t like the rear end styling of the new one. I’ll keep my GT3 Touring, 991.2 MT Cab and Spyder which all look better than this car.
@@Closertotruth2 what a lineup you have, bravo.
I don't like it either. I'll keep my minivan.
Now on my fifth porsche with the 992 911S and I live it. 8th generation with 8 speeds it’s so much fun.
Love, love, love this new 992. I can't wait to get mine.... Have placed my order already. :-)
Lucky bastard lol

Thank you for your review. I appreciate your insights. I want a manual 992, ideally a T if there is one, but am concerned about the shifter. Two manual 991.1s I have driven had shifting action that seemed rubbery and imprecise. If you can, in your upcoming review of the manual 992 please address how improved its shift action is compared with the 991. Thanks!
Absolutely will do when available. However, while I am unable to show an actual manual 992 - I do address the transmissions in the upcoming TECH REVIEW out this Saturday.
Great video!
I would like to see a naturally aspirated Gt3 9000 rpm with the option of manual.Just to have a different driving experience from the passive automatic. In Denmark you pay about 180% tax. In Sweden cars cost about 50% of the danish price- somewhere around us levels I believe . Then there will be different taxes to reduce driving for the environment and road tax .Petrol cost an arm and a leg.
Why waste your money on a 911 Turbo S when you can get a 911 Carrara S!💯👍🏻😁
What I would like to see from electrification is what Mercedes did with their new 48V system. Just a simple torque-rich pancake electric motor placed up against the transmission and an intelligent method for tapping into it. In the new Mercedes GLE 450 and GLE 53 SUVs, they use a straight-6 base engine and jack it with the aforementioned electric motor. The results are - as best as I can tell - significantly faster than some diesel equivalents but the same efficiency. So Porsche could use it to add punch and also add efficiency, is what I'm getting at.
Maybe it doesn't lean because of the PDCC?
The brown interior at 9:25 looks sooo amazing! Combine it with Aventurine green and you’ve got an eternal classic!
When you open the moon roof on a car, people draw a lot of attention to you.lol
Ok ..I live in Sydney Australia..pricing here is just stupid for luxury cars. New 911 992 carrera S base price starts at 265,000 AUD. (USD $190,000) and there there the tax. Luxury car tax is AUD $59000 on top. So a total of $324,000 or $232,000 usd without any optional extra goodies.
I would move...that's ridiculous
I understand that the engine has been moved forward by 20cm / 8 inches. I wonder what that has done to the
weight distribution? If you equip this car with the manual tranny how much less will it weigh? If you then order it
with 4 wheel steering (but still only rear wheel drive) will that also help keep the rear from slipping out?
Finally the PDK is now 8 speeds and a half second faster to 60mph, but I think since they added more HP and torque I would say the manual will be very fast enough and be $5,000 cheaper which I prefer.
Impossible! Moving the motor 20mm would be news. 20cm would be approaching a mid-engine layout! Perhaps you are thinking of the 911 RSR?
Only the engine MOUNT has been moved forward 20 mm - briefly touched upon in the episode. They also removed one of the cross-members.
Add it to help performance only!
Lovely video, amazing Car :)
useful and very interesting vid , thanks. spoiled however with too many adds in my case. This maybe a new UA-cam strategy but if it is it will fire back - there are limits for everything and when content is published free one ad maybe tolerated but not several
That's the reality of today's steaming environment. The real issue: UA-cam is a dying platform for independent media producers of all sizes. This is why we have expanded to Google, Apple, Amazon and others. At some point, there is a high likelihood that we will either drastically reduce our presence here or not support it at all.
Thanks for the feedback MotoManTV. I agree and have taken notice.
Very nice. And 992 is beautiful :)
Wow. The 992 is a great shape.
I wish they trade the turbos for electrification, we would able to have the NA experience, power and the efficiency that most legislations are asking. Here in Brazil we have a tremendous high annually tax for the cars that is topically 5% of the calculated value of the car, but in some states you have a 50% discount on it if the car is Hybrid, unfortunately that's all for now.
hope this whole pressure on cars calm down, 911's still sound great.
one day they will probably make a hybrid version, and many people will appreciate the lower environment tax. For now let us enjoy just this much advancement until we get used to it
Yeah, no thanks.
In Ceara there is no discount on Hybrids - All imported cars mostly 100% more expensive compared with European prices :-(
Love these Turbos so easy to modify, easier on the gas, Low end torque so sweet
You didn’t comment on the stubby PDK selector. That seems to have a lot of haters.
Welcome back
I like the flared haunches but cannot get with the rear end especially the exhaust area. Just doesn’t look that good imo.
My name is Juan Albors from Puerto Rico with 992 2022
Where are you from Motoman?
How often does Porsche produce the GT2-RS?
Still can’t see myself getting onboard with fully electric vehicles. Don’t care how fast or efficient or whatever they are; the fact is that I’d rather ride a bike to work than drive an electric car
I guess you never drove an good ev
Base? Are you saying there's not going to be a less expensive / lower hp non-S Carrera?
Nope. The featured car in this episode is the most base you are going to get. A 2WD, 443 HP 3.0 TT Flat 6.
992 looks waaay better than the 991 imo and I actually like the 991
damn guys your cam is really bad my phone would make that car look nicer... otherwise nice video
Name of song plz 14:34
That would be the incomparable Dirty Hollywood. 'I want to fall in love'. Fitting, no?
I don't like the dashboard. Nice car for the price.
You need more subscribers
That fucking intro was killer, which leads me to ask, just how good is Conor Mcgregor?
In Australia we are tax to hell............about half the RRP on the road of a Porsche are taxes
I only would desire an electrified 911 if the weight is not ungainly and it makes the car less squirmy in wet conditions/sharp corners and it contributes to additional performance AND braking capabilities. Most EV fan boys seem to forget 0-60 mph is just half of the important metric. 60-0 mph is equally important.
want to wait till the hybrid comes out
to fulfill my dream~~~~
Porsche...making it more difficult to replace regular maintenance items since the 1930’s
like new width but not price
I want a 911 to do what the 918 can do electric wise
Where is that song from? 14:35 anybody?
I might be in the minority, but if they add hybridization to the 911 I want more fuel efficiency. I like driving, I also like saving money. Just hope they make the hybrid just as much fun to drive.
It's inevitable but natural aspiration reigns king: see 911 GT3
Just bought a 2019 Porsche Targa 911 4S, love it!

I drive old honda, it would be nice if someone get me one of those or any porsche. I will never to be able afford one of this wonderful cars :(
I guess I am the only person who is not looking forward to electrification.
Cannon Powers I’m super looking forward to the future mini 918s. I’m actually grabbing a 2019 cayenne hybrid until Porsche releases the 911 hybrid system battery. You must embrace perfection not cling to old imperfections because you’re “use to it”....
@@erick2good It is not about being "use to" to something, but rather loosing something that I am impassioned about with cars.
Agree Cannon. I like what is current, especially the NA sound of my GT3. I will avoid electric cars as long as possible.
No. I'm not looking forward to it, either. Know what a new battery pack costs for a 918, P1 or LaFerrari? £150,000, £170,000 and £200,000. They have to be changed every 7, 6 and 5 years. Which means a hybrid 911 is going to come with a huge increase in weight, complexity and cost whilst losing its manual gearbox permanently. For a bit of torque infill. Hurray. As for emissions based tax costs? If you need to save money, buy a Cayman or a Boxster.
No interest in electric either. Its fine for some cars, but not a 911.
Will there be an ehybrid version of this?
Probably on the 992.2, remember Porsche still haven't make the Macan Hybrid yet, I'd think it will come before the 911.
@@danielmaia3559 Yeah I was actually expecting for a macan e hybrid to be launched early 2019 but I guess we'll have to wait. Thanks!
Yes aluminium, now when I go to buy one in 20 years I won't have to worry about rust !
ARE THOSE RED WHITE AND BLUE STRIPES I SEE THERE ON THE EUROSPEC PLATES?

Electrification in form of a light-hybrid system would make it possible to og back to NA engines. That would be great!
Porsche just evolves with each 911. Ford builds up expectations and ultimately disappoints with a lame new Mustang
I can’t wait to see the new Turbo S. May be interested in upgrading.
For the love of god... GET RID OF THAT MASSIVE CUP HOLDER
You can take it out! And one of the hidden cup holders in the right side dashboard is still there! :)
Seger Giesbers good. I hope there’s a “cup holder delete” option :)
the videos quality ...
Nice video overview, thanks for the great content. Keep up the good work...Yeshua (Jesus Christ) is the way!
Porsche has caved in with all this DIGITAL b.s. I enjoyed your video. But I dislike 70 percent of the car. N/A 991.1 for me!
Send one to Greta.
Problem: the 992 is DOG slow.
3XX ft-lbs of torque in 2020???
Is Porsche serious???
How 'bout 750 ft-lbs at this price.
Sloooooooooooooooooow.
torque such a poor measurement of power, besides it still does 0-60 in 3.2S so I don't know why you are piping up
@@robbae9307
Torque isn't a measure of power because power is irrelevant. Dynos ONLY measure torque bcs torque is all that matters, they apply a simple equation to plot horsepower from torque.
F=MA for the Porsche drivers who flunked physics (100% apparently, or they wouldn't pay $150,000 for heavy VWs making 340 ft-lbs). That means...
A=M/F
Acceleration=Weight/Torque
Thats it. Nothing else matters. Thats why 911s are blown away by everything in their price range, these days.
