    Have both black and blue versions. This knife is Kizer quality, which means a well-tuned detent equating into great action, awesome fit and finish, and a very comfortable design! Heck yeah I love this knife! Olight's designer did a fantastic job!

    I grabbed one in blue, used the $10 off code they had, so it was around $40. I think for the price, it is really decent. Not only was it Olight's first attempt at a knife, but they actually tried in my opinion. They sought our a decent OEM, put some thought into the design, and chose a decent budget steel. To me, that mattered. They did not just choose some generic junk knife and slap their logo on it.

    Bought the ZILLA and LOVE it. Will take a chance on the DREVER soon because the 940 is too much for me right now. Thanks for great review!

      Thanks. This is the only one I’ve been able to handle. Need to try to get the others in sometime to show.
      Thanks for watching.

    Interesting thoughts. I find the flipper tab to be quite good, and I've never had a misfire. I agree 100% with your comments about knife steel. It's a hell of a knife for the price, in my opinion.

      Thanks appreciate your opinion. Perhaps the flipper tab issue is more just me…totally possible.

    I bought one when they first came out and I honestly love it, I don't carry it to work because I don't want to destroy it lol my main work knife is a kershaw link, but for a weekend carry or out in the woods carry its great. I agree with you about the steel, I do like my higher quality steels because I actually use them and sharpen them myself but for the drever being olight's first flagship knife I'm honestly blown away at how nicely and simple it's design is. That steel is not the best but by far isn't the worst I've owned. It sharpens easy enough and for the mild use mine gets it holds an amazing edge. Over all I give it a 7.5 out of 10

    I have the black one, and I really don’t understand your dissatisfaction with the flipper tab. Personally, it works just great for me, and I struggle opening it with the thumb tabs, so I’m going to go out on a limb and chalk this difference of opinion up to differences in personal taste (for whatever that’s worth). I’m happy I bought this knife, and it’s my current daily-carry selection.

      That’s great. I’ve said this before….flipper action is VERY SUBJECTIVE a lot of time it really is personal taste.

    I’m a fan and think I’d be a buyer at $150 with s30. M690 is a pretty good steel, I just like the proven corrosion resistant of s30 or s35vn, ok maybe just a bias that really means nothing, but I’m very impressed with this blade. Very well execution for a first offering by olight. They pretty much hit all of our knife nut talking points on what we like.

      Absolutely. Upgraded steel would be awesome.

      @Derk Werning I’m not sure I want to pay anymore for an Olight knife.. even with upgraded steel. I like Olight products, but there are so many good knives out there with high end steels; I kinda like having my drever more as a novelty/light user. Nice review btw.

      @@edc4fun fair statement, I see and can agree with you on that. Cheers

      @William Kerry I say that and then Olight drops a titanium framelock, s35vn clip point with a flipper and a thumb hole.. lol

    It reminds me of a bestech for some reason. Your hundred percent right about the steel and the heat treatment matters more then people give credit to.

    Thank you so much for this review! So far, I have not really been a "knife" guy, not nearly as much as a "gun" guy, lol. But I am seeing the value of a decent knife for many situations. I have several Olight gun lights and flashlights, am a big Olight fan, and now I have to have this Drever! Today is 9/20/21, their website says it will be available for purchase on 9/23/21, so I am camping on their doorstep in hopes of getting one! Btw, about that flipper, could one not take a small triangular file and deepen those grooves a bit, give it more traction? That is what I will do when I get mine!

    • @DirkWerning
      @DirkWerning  3 роки тому

      Thanks for watching. Good luck on getting one. And YES a file could be used to depend the grooves providing more traction. PLEASE keep me posted if you get one and how you feel the flipper tab works and/or if you do a little file work yourself. Would love to hear.

    It is my understanding that a Mr Jeremy Howard personally designed, machined, built, assembled, QC checked, and hand delivers each and every one of these knives to the buyers home. But you said its built by Kizer…I think I may have been bamboozled!

    Olight isn't the first. Fenix make the Ruike knives which are very good for the price.

    Hey Dirk,so I was curious about the availability of this and it’s unavailable at Olight (which I’m kinda surprised and then not) and it’s going for $89-$100 on EBay! I’ve heard good great reviews for this blade and in my opinion I really like it as it seems you do. Also I have one Kizer blade and it’s the October and I have today it’s got fantastic ergos and action! Have a fantastic

      Can’t speak on the availability but yes I like it. For the price point it’s a solid option.

      It’s back in stock on the Olight website now. They sold out before the end of the flash sale.

    But how does it perform? Knives are for cutting, not flipping. Any hot spots? Thick behind the edge?

    The last $50 knife I bought sits in a drawer and is all but forgotten. I see nothing here that makes me think this would be any different.

    Is it made in CHINA, if so that's a hard pass for me

    • @DirkWerning
      @DirkWerning  3 роки тому

      Made by Kizer and yes I believe they are in China.

  • @jonnyl2001
    @jonnyl2001 3 роки тому

    $50 price point is possible if either you have poor/cheap components or very low waged employees/slave labor. Things that China is known for. The costs have to be cut somewhere.
