45 years on, the Dismissal is still Australia's most muiltifaceted crisis, even outside of politics. Gough Whitlam was such a boss that he became a lightning rod for the fate of Australia, forcing the true puppetmasters out of the shadows, even if only briefly.

This man’s above class, politics, tribalism - he’s rational, decent, and wise. And I know he wouldn’t like to be spoken of in that way because the humility is inherent in the wisdom.

One thing that i have always admired about Gough and i may be mistaken here but to the best of my knowledge he is the only Prime Minister we have ever had that has actually experienced what it means to face combat. He was Navigator of a Lancaster Bomber During WWII putting him in a group of servicemen who suffered the highest rate of losses of any service we deployed during that war. Additionally and again i appreciate that there must have been other factors but it was during his term that the Australian Troops were withdrawn from Vietnam. As an ex serviceman this alone stands him out as one of the greatest PM's ever, second only to John Curtain who fought tooth and nail against Churchill to return our troops back here to defend against the Japanese.

6 months, that's how fast the Japanese were in Northern New Guinea.
That's why Curtin, declared war on Japan independent of the UK and turned to the US to ally with for the defence of our common interests in our region.
When the, quoting Churchill, "Unreachable Fortress" Singapore fell they blamed the Aussie soldier's for it. Called us cowards.
We made up less than 10-15% of the defending forces stationed there but accounted for 75% of the casualties. No doubt some Aussies ran, but most of us fought and died.
The US, UK and Soviet's screwed us over in the peace deal too. We were there fighting the whole bloody war yet the US and Soviet's claimed more contribution.
We easily had over 28% contribution, they dismissed us as barely having 8%.
We also had to pay more for the lend leases of military equipment than any nation at that table. Double in fact.
Despite only getting dodgy surplus equipment, almost never on time either. We had to pay for thousands of Stens that almost always failed to operate correctly and were never delivered on time.
Heck, that's why we ended up just making our own from some scratch built SMG a lad named Owen made for fun before he enlisted before the war.
Was a better SMG than the Sten and was dirt cheap to manufacture.

Gough and Co. really pissed off the Establishment when R.F.X.Connor proposed to seek funding from unconventional sources.
I often wonder where this nation would be if we followed through and became more of a nation at that time.

Jordy: "Mmm... Noble... Well, looks like we're out of time."
Bruh. I wanna see this dude drop some well-crafted relevant truth bomb cameos in some of your upcoming videos... Rather than, say, some puerile dropkick UA-cam bogan wearing undies and a flag doing a shot and making faces. Plskthx.
