I truly wish more people would give this story a chance. On so many forums and such, people automatically turn it away without even bothering to watch it for themselves. Most people complain about the animation being lazy or sloppy, the plot being too complicated or too simple, and lastly how there isn't any action or fan service. I think those people have seen so many of the generic cliche filled anime's that now they assume all are supposed to be that way. (Think of In Another World With My Smartphone) Girls Last Tour is one of those original series that recalls back to when anime told a strong story. It doesn't need constant explosions or up-skirt shots to keep our attention. A simple setup of the girls sitting in silence listening to rain dripping down onto empty cans is enough to keep us coming back each week for more. It's beautiful, sad, hopeful, and humble all at once.
IMO the fact that most of the storytelling and the depth of the plot is left to the viewer is one of the best things of the show, not everyone is willing to spend time thinking beyond what they see
The show is iyashikei, anyone complaining about lack of action misses the point. It's more along the lines of something like mushishi, it's about atmosphere and relaxation with just a few events happening in an episode. This show is fucking fantastic.
Plus, i like imagining a life in this world. A life that demands nothing asides from your own survival, in a deep, deep quiet abyss with only one friend and the occasional chance meeting for company.

The first time I listened to this song with a headphone, i was lying on the bed. Then for some reason I just felt a great wave of sadness completely washed away anything in my mind, then I cried for minutes. That was the second time I ever cried in 2019. The first time was a day ago, when I finished the anime, and went looking for the manga ending.
I got soo into it, I got to love them in a different way, I felt so bad and sorry for them and at the end my heart was hurting for those little angels, yes I cried, I love this song and every time I hear it saddens me!
This show has insane atmosphere, it just recently made me cry and I don't even know why exactly... it was all just so beautiful yet it felt like everything was futile in the face of such a vast empty cold and uncaring world. I don't even really know what this show is about but it speaks to me somehow and even tho I can't understand what it says I just enjoy listening.
This rain song scene was definitely what first caught my attention, along with the Dab in the opening credits, and I've watched the series several times since then. For me, someone who has always been driven to write and create art and have many friends who feel the same, my favorite story of the series is right before the rain episode. It's the one where the girls discover the woman who has been building a plane, and her story seems a perfect metaphor for someone driven to create art or be a writer. People might not understand why someone has this drive, and they may think it can only end in failure, but as the woman says, what else could she do?
Hey man, I really enjoyed the video. I'm working on script for Girls last tour at the moment and I was actually planning on ending my video with the same scene, as it really resonated with me. I love how many different aspects of the show people are talking about, it really shows how deep this show is and how it does soooo much with so little. Thank you for uploading this, I think you may have gotten me out of my writer's block!
I'm happy to hear to like it. If there was one thing I wish I could of added, it would of been about the ending scene of episode 7 or 8, Moonlight. Because this series is always finding new things to approach and new ways to build upon previous ideas!.
I definitely feel like episode 5's ending sort of sums up what the show is about slightly better. One thing the rain ending had that moonlight hadn't was the two learning about how the world works by creating something from it. There's something very satisfying about using what you have at your disposal to learn and/or create. It just felt more organic than the two of them getting drunk. I still love that ending though, not trying to sell it short lol
Wait, they had a "Rocky friendship" in the anime? In the manga they've basically been friends since birth, and we're said since the beginning to be inseparable. When Yuri held her gun to chitto, in the manga that was depicted as mostly a joke, but also Yuuri telling chitto why she should've brought a gun. When kanazawa showed up in the manga, Yuuri raised her gun because Chitto found a still-burning cigarette and then told Yuuri to prepare her weapon. Seems like the anime missed quite a few marks and details. I believe the message of the story to be that things need endings to be special. All good things have endings, and their temporal nature is what makes it good. Humanity, the tour, the books, the kettenkrad, the music, and even food, all ended, but were seen as good. Eventually, even the girls live ended, but only after they got to their goal, and were happy with their lives.
Pyro Paragon when I made this it was like episode 6. There had been a couple scenes where I thought it was a bit rocky. Like pulling a gun and burning the book. I would change it now if I could because it really doesn’t mean anything in the video. Otherwise yeah I agree with ya on the rest of it.
Although if you watch closely that "concrete slab thing" is actually one of the later robots used during the war. It was a great video though and this anime is by far one of my favorites
Yuri didnt burn cheeto's journal she burned cheeti's fav book/novel if I didn't remember wrongly If yuri burned cheeto's journal that would ignite some hella war😂😂
I was expecting this to be about the scene where they watch all of the recordings in the final episode because seeing all the little bits of how everything fell apart and what the world used to be in contrast to what it is now hit me incredibly hard when I watched the anime fresh after reading the manga. I still think the best scene overall is the tankoubon exclusive pages of just scenery after zooming out from the ending, but the anime really nailed the video scene better than I ever could've imagined.
I have heard the theory that Yuuri tried to make a point to Chito, who previously said she doesn't need a gun. While Yuuri may come across as a dummy, I think it is more that she simply doesn't know how to express herself as she isn't well read at all and they left on their journey at very early age, having spent most of their lives in a seemingly military society.
I just like recently noticed rewatching the show..but the "concrete shelter". Isnt it a wreckage of one of the combat robots or whatever it was in the "history of humanity" part of the show? You could see them marching there. the things with two holes in the hull. Could just be a weird coincidence that its just some concrete that looks similiar but to me it feels like a wreck of that robot/machine

Yes, WEIRD anime, I put it off until I realized episodes were ongoing recently so I just finished it. 12 eps, the OPs and EDs are nice too. Yuu is a masochist... I like how a few of the EDs are unique. I always like when an anime doesn't simply use the same OP and ED all the way through.
imo it really helped build yuuri's character as kinda a wholesome psychopath, there are a lot of scenes that make it pretty clear that she possesses very little empathy

The message sent is not about hopelessness and how happiness is fleetin in my opinion. The show put the Chito and Yuu, the symbols and beauty of appreciation next to a world of hopelessness and let the audience decide which one wins. I gotta say appreciation wins and that’s the message we get from the show
I got soo into it, I got to love them in a different way, I felt so bad and sorry for them and at the end my heart was hurting for those little angels, yes I cried, I love this song and every time I hear it saddens me!

Should probably mention there will be spoilers in the title no matter how small they are. It’s also double the case when your title has “and why you should watch it” which gives off the assumption that you won’t be talking about anything that spoils it, otherwise your expecting people to watch it with things divulged.
Its the only anime I've watched. Honestly only watched it because the manga was good (not going to spoil anything but the ending was interesting in the least). Basically found it because of the kettenkrad.
If you like this show you maybe should try out Kinos Journey from 2003. It is similar in that it has a slow paceing and philosophical undertones, though the atmosphere is almost dream like and it is a less loneley journey.
And it ends with magical beings doing some kind of cleaning-for-the-life-renaissance thingy, without humans obviously. With the exception of the main characters, humans in the series don't show interest in forming groups, it's like each have their own goals without being interested in others (it's like loneliness doesn't affect them as it usually does on average humans, who are social beings) though given the particular experiences and trauma they may have been subjected to, it wouldn't be unlikely either. It is never explained why most humans dissapeared though the obvious answer must rely on some devastating chemical-biological weapon that may have affected 99,99% of the population leaving those few 0,01 wandering and scavenging around. Nevertheless this melancholic series ends with hope (for earth) without humans (and all things that humans did will simply decay and eventually dissapear with the particular help of those magical beings, maybe a metaphor for nature).
the manga ended, you should read it. Ps it wasnt a nuke or chemical attack that ended humanity. I can tell you if you want to know, however still read the manga. P.S. the map maker had a wife.
I planned to watch it during my big first few anime binge, but I wanted to keep it Hulu exclusive, meaning my focus has been on Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood (the only one I've finished so far), My Hero Acedamia, Death Note, Madoka Magica, and Fate / Zero. I'll check this out after finishing Fate / Zero (the last one I'll watch because I found it's first episode pretty uninteresting, and it's the only one on my list that I feel had an intolerable dub.
If you’re trying to watch the staple anime of each genre, Elfen Leid and Angel Beats are both very popular and good as well. You have a pretty solid list though, (except for my personal hatred of Madoka Magika. But that’s besides the point).
Noah Tetreault I posted this forever ago. I've watched a crap ton of anime. Not Elfen Leid though. And I've only watched one episode of Angel Beats. As for Madoka Magica, I personally love it, but I'm not big on the characters. They feel too... Single-purpose.
That was my problem with Madoka Magica. The characters are very bland. It’s a solid anime, but a bit overrated imo. Maybe I went into it with too high expectations.
Is that the 3D gem show? Because if so I do plan to watch it, I think CGI is very much the future of anime. Although my technical understanding of the CGI are lacking.
Cuzziemodo Well they use 2D for a lot of detailed scenes, which you wont notice at first glance because it blends in really well, and all the backgrounds are really well drawn 2D
Try it, you will only regret that you don't watch it sooner, I guess. Houseki no kuni is my anime of the year 2017, even above March comes in like a lion and Girls last tour. For an anime watcher it's been a great year!
I despise 3D animation, but even with this handicap Land of the Lustrous was something that has stayed with me afterwards. A good show can entertain you in the moment, but a great one becomes a part of you forever.
Im not trying to argue, but please explain to me what was good about this anime ? After watching The Promised Neverland and Made in abyss, I read that it was the (kind of) similar style... I abandoned at the 5th episode. Honestly I tried hard but found it really boring. No story, no punch, no nothing. We only have been presented 3 characters, and the 3rd was shown for only one episode... No much dialogue, and the show is really slow paced... Did I miss something ? Or could somebody enlight me on what is great about Girls Last Tour ? Thank !
Whoever said it's like promised never land dead-ass lied to you. Kinda similar to MiA maybe, but this is a lot more calmer and slower paced. You've made it 5 deep and honestly I don't think you'll enjoy the rest of it if you haven't already. So i'll just say what I enjoy about it. I love the slow pace - the show is basically an Iyashikei set after the end of the world - and because we only get two characters we get to spend a lot of time with them as well as understanding how desolate the setting is. having only 2 main characters and a couple side characters is an honestly refreshing take on anime. There aren't too many shows that do this, even fewer that are able to keep each episode engaging with only 2. But because of that, you can't really go into GLT with expectations of action like in MiA or the tense thriller scenes of PNL. GLT is just not that kind of show. What GLT is though, is a slow paced, thoughtful, melancholic and often times tragic anime. An anime which does take its time to get to its point, but those points are soft and beautiful, like the rain scene. There's nothing to miss and there's nothing to say which I think will drastically change your mind. The show is just not for you and that's completely fine. MiA was not for me and that's something I just have to deal with. Same thing for Romance anime. I don't think i'm missing anything, it's just not up my alley. There's nothing wrong with not liking GLT. You gave it a fair shot and it wasn't for you.
@@Cuzziemodo Thank you for your elaborate answer thats appreciated and it helps. I guess it's effectively just not for me like you said. Just to precise I didnt hate the style i was just feeling like i missed something since nothing seemed to be happenning?? But I got your point. Thanks !
Good video, but if I may offer a piece of advice: you speak too fast. I was hardly able to understand you (english is not my native language, but I'm quite proficient with it). Also, you should not speed up scenes from the anime, it gives everything a too rushed feeling.
is it just me that think yuuri burnt chito book on purpose, cause yuuri take chito's statement about knowledge and documentation as a mock for her. since yuuri barely can read/write and only good on shooting guns. but then she apologize since she realize the best thing she have is chito, just like she show on an episode where they in gods temple and the light suddenly out.
@@234pg786 they are friends from birth. Given their looks as well (blonde with blue eyes Vs Brunette with brown eyes) quite unlikely they're blood related.
I didnt like the scene where Yuu pointed the rifle at Chi. It just came so out of left field, even so early in the anime, and just seemed so wrong. We're talking two girls raised with some semblance of military discipline by their grandpa. That destroys the "it was just a joke" excuse, one of tge first things they would have been taught was you dont point a weapon at something unless you intend to shoot it. So that leaves what... She was really willing to kill Chi over half a ration bar? It makes no sense, snd goes faf beyond "oh haha Yuu really likes food." The only blemish on an otherwise great anime.
Shows like this don't survive long. Too deep and almost no action. Kids won't watch these type of show... just as why majority of the westerners never heard of From the New World (Shin Sekai Yori), another show that focuses on humanity.
While they don't run long they will be remembered fondly by those who watched them. While not manny watched it, Kinos journe (2003) is unforgotten by those who experienced it.
The author drew a spin-off short comic where they are college aged girlfriends so I strongly doubt there was ever any intention of them being blood related lol

But dude at the end when they sad that Yuu and Chi are 2 last humans on the planet... 😱
Read the manga from chapters 33-46 to get the full story where the anime leaves off
I suggest it....But prepare to cry!
im waching girls last tour!
I also liked the scene when they got drunk and danced
"as 2d as 90% of the animation" *uses completely 3d scene*
@@nisteven pls spoil me
WELL SAID! Just like watching this anime, for a brief moment in time. It will be taken from us. Time to move on.
you must read the manga for sure, the ending is really beautiful. its really fit for this series
Best world at reality
Noah Tetreault I was still fairly new to anime, so my expectations weren't really there.
Hey man you should try out Land of the Lustrous and make a video out of it, the direction and art are amazing.
Indeed, I got the final episode of Trigun left and then onto houseki no kuni
I despise 3D animation, but even with this handicap Land of the Lustrous was something that has stayed with me afterwards. A good show can entertain you in the moment, but a great one becomes a part of you forever.
3:36 she accidentally burns a book (the kappa i think??) not her journal
"Potato girls is die"
Thanks !
I have a question...
WHERE I CAN WATCH IT???!!!!
Don't know if you've watched it yet, but you can try watch it on 9anime
@@shahrulikram4123 7 months ago, I literally forgot the anime, also, THANK YOU SO MUCH-
I just finished watching this. >
mate this scene last for 13 episodes what u talkin bout???
Good video, but if I may offer a piece of advice: you speak too fast. I was hardly able to understand you (english is not my native language, but I'm quite proficient with it). Also, you should not speed up scenes from the anime, it gives everything a too rushed feeling.
Marek Petters I completely agree. I'll work on that for the next one and work on voice for the video

nuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu
is it just me that think yuuri burnt chito book on purpose, cause yuuri take chito's statement about knowledge and documentation as a mock for her. since yuuri barely can read/write and only good on shooting guns. but then she apologize since she realize the best thing she have is chito, just like she show on an episode where they in gods temple and the light suddenly out.
OHHHHHHHHHHH ARE U LOOKING THAT GOOD GOOD?
All anime girls last tour isa great and best scene UwU
I ship them 100%
Dappis They are either sisters or cousins, read the manga
It makes no sense, snd goes faf beyond "oh haha Yuu really likes food."
The only blemish on an otherwise great anime.
I would love to watch this, but I'm too fuckin poor to afford it, anywhere I can watch it for free?
EverydayFish just google it
I just watched ep 1 & 2 and it feels so boring... wat episode that will make me hooked?
This one is from episode 5, if not. Try episode 8 or 9.
Yes
Po Pa Po Pa Po Pa Pan!
Great
Where can I watch it? ;-;
Hidive and Vive
yeah bro
Where can I watch this show
on Amazon's 'Anime strike' channel
Yeet
Cuzziemodo I've watched this anime and this is a great anime but one thing is great about this show is that the fandom is still great

Uwahhh
Here's one thing you missed. The black haird one is flat, the blonde has breast
Mainnya hebat
That isn't the dab 0/10
The dab has been beat out i.redd.it/ug1ab2j3q1701.png
I think they’re sisters
The author drew a spin-off short comic where they are college aged girlfriends so I strongly doubt there was ever any intention of them being blood related lol
.
0:57 or Gay...
Cornelius Korn nah
Nero Santiago definitely
Yes.
I mean... If somebody call that fingers entwining scene at the end "just friends", that's some serious denial right there.
Manga is big sad
I think this anime should be held in the same light as anything by Miyazaki, it's just that poignant.
