Recently finished the manga. I saw the chapter list of the last volume, and the titles "Loss", "Sleep", "Silence" and then "End" absolutely broke my heart even though I had no idea what they were about yet.
I've found this series this year, and it hit me HARD (especially the ending of the manga). One my favorite quotes from the series is "We should learn to cope better with hopelessness."
Girls Last Tour is so special in that thinking about it makes me really sad but I wouldn't have it any other way. Reading the story and watching the anime, I can't help but go "HHH THESE PURE WHOLESOME BABIES DESERVED BETTER THAN THIS." But even so GLT is a really beautiful story and it'd be a shame to not have it. And for full effectiveness, it only works in favor of the series that Chii and Yuu are so likable, that you wish they'd been born a couple hundred years earlier. Their journey wouldn't have been nearly as impactful if I wasn't sad to see them go. Tsukumizu is one of my favorite mangakas. Considering she's only really done GLT so far (and that anthology comic thing for Gakkou Gurashi,) that may seem premature. But her art just generally really resonates with me. You can find a lot of her work on Pintrest and Pixiv. And she's got a Tumblr too. Of course, I really enjoy her art on an aesthetic level. But also just the tone of her artwork. A lot of her work is rather melancholic. Though it's never really sad per say. (Except for that ONE picture... HHH.) But I digress. I didn't know there were people refusing to finish GLT. While I guess I understand not wanting to say goodbye to Chii and Yuu, they're depriving themselves of a really beautiful, and heartfelt experience.
I don't think it was too many that felt that way. But I have seen it pop up a few times. And yeah, I definitely know how you feel about tsukumizu's art, loved the part in the Gakkou Gurashi Anthology comic too!
I just finished reading the last chapters and it was a very bittersweet ending. It’s comforting in a way to know that they tried everything they could to survive, I think they were relieved of a heavy “burden” knowing they did everything they could and now this is their deserved closure and rest. They don’t have to worry about anything anymore, they can just finally let it go and drift of peacefully side by side. While I’m still very sad and have cried because of the end, it’s a warm, gentle kind of sadness wich I can peacefully accept and let it wash over me. It really is a great and special kind of story.👍
I finished the manga long ago. And I still having heart break everytime I remember that ending... I dunno man, Tsukumizu Yuu seems like the most pessimistic author I've ever known, but that's what made her stories memorable and melancholic. Also my respect for her grows stronger knowing that she'd drawn fan art of other things I like such as Nier Automata, Houseki no Kuni, Touhou, Made in Abyss,...
I was knowing tkmiz art long before Girls Last Tour became popular, and now I have all its volumes printed in my native language standing on a shelf. It really feels like she has some deep understanding in what I can barely catch, but still what an unexpected yet deserved success for such eccentric author.
Im usually the kind of person that avoid spoilers for future sequels but seeing comments that chapters left is not enough to cover another season so i decided to finish the manga. Oh man, its the hardest cry i ever did after a long time.. Hope WhiteFox made it into an OVA or movie, I would really like to suffer with Chito while on a hot tub..
I JUST finished the manga as I finally got an English copy of volume 6. I remembered seeing this video in recommendeds so I watched it, and it certainly gave me a much better understanding of just how great the series is, and I'll probably never find something as amazing as this again. ... Yeah I'm just gonna go into the corner and lie down...
Im glad the manga gives what i wanted, when chito legs got injured we get to see yuuri drives in kettenkrad for first time, they smoke tobacco, and wear different clothing.
One thing I greatly appreciate about Girl’s Last Tour is that it’s not simply a story. Along with the good, the bad, and all other moments in between there is one aspect that feels... unnatural to me. Acceptance. Remember history but don’t backtrack.. don’t look back. Keep moving forward even if there are no answers or roads to take. As the author states trying to find the answers towards a collective happiness can be tiresome and seemingly impossible but where can we start? How do we make a marked path for others to follow in this big twisted world we live in? The best place to start is with ourselves and hopefully we can help others we cross paths with over time. Thanks a ton for this delightful Girl’s Last Tour video! This kind of story telling is a real diamond in the rough of anime for me.
eggcellent one my good boi. i wont finish this videos spoiler section (yet) cause i havent red the manga, but the first half of the video already impressed me
Holy shit urban really out here making videos with his actual voice in we need to step up bois (anime is at its best when everyone you love dies dont @ me)
I need to get back into that saddle. Honestly, think what's kept me back is that the show/manga feels like something you want to experience while you are cozy, not being bogged down by every little thing in life. It's sweet, yet sad, but also philosophical.
I actually recommend just throwing on an episode when you get home from work/school. That's how I watched it, and it was really nice. As for the last two volumes of the manga, it's a very quick read.
I think I should make a video about one piece now... saying Finish it! Fucking finish the story already holy crap.. it has been going on for so long.. just finish it already..
I still having heart my breaking, long after i read the manga wishing it would be a more happy end. But it make me see hope in the dark, even when thing feel to hard to handle.
I agree completely, the story just doesn't have the same weight without its closure. It's actually a shame we'll never get to see an anime adaptation of the last two volumes, that would be absolutely beautiful.

Why are there wars? The answer is that, sadly, there are really two different kinds of humans who are in constant competition with each other. We have radically different views of reality and strategies for survival that are not compatible with each other. Thus conflict. Hard times create strong men, Strong men create good times, Good times create weak men, Weak men create hard times. And the wheel turns.
This is an amazing video but I feel it'd be way better if not for the colossal spoilers of what happens at the end. If not for that, I'd be showing this video to all my friends that haven't yet seen the mangas ending.
I decided to read the manga 1st then watch the anime. It was a beautiful work and glad I chose to write a school paper on them. I don't think the girls passed away at the end of the manga though. Yes Chiito and Yuuri are going to die but that isn't shown as they might not freeze to death but may starve to death which leads to some pretty dark areas.
The end of the mankind wasn´t the war but the believing in a world without nature! The mankind has gambled the right to exist with the elimination of the woods and the animals. The war was only the logical reaction! Or do you believe in millions of people wich are sitting peaceful around the last potatoe?Chi and Yuu had no chance to survive or to grow up when they left their "grandpa" and he knew that.Chi cutted off the last potatoe and blew away a whole level with pushing a button...the typical story of a humans life!
For a minute there, I thought you were demanding the anime to continue until the manga end. I do agree if your a really big fan of the anime then I suggest continuing in the manga. TBH, if they both died that night then it probably would be the more merciful way to die. If they continue living they'll just end up suffering unless some unlikely miracle would to happen. Even worse if one were to die before the other, we already learn how they would be without each other. I theorize after they passed, their pet Nuko would be the one to devour their bodies and become fully grown.

Honestly I don't accept the ending because I don't see why life had to come to an end. There were a few people who could have survived and restarted humanity. Sigh, great series, but the ending was unnecessary
That "life has meaning because it ends" bullshit is one of the multiple coping mechanism humans came up with to deal with their mortality, I get it, but it makes me so irrationally angry. You really think an eternity of potential happiness would be worse than an eternity of most likely nothing?
I’m trying to understand. Did they go gentle into that good night? Or the fact that they were moving towards their goal all this time means they did NOT go gentle into that goodnight?
There's a lot of confusion surrounding that. Granted I think there's a Wiki page somewhere that says he, I don't think there's a sited source for that. We're kinda just left to assume. Since their true gender isn't really known, I usually go she/her because of their little avatar character.
