- A feature film that imagines a dystopian America where Bibles are banned, Christianity is vanquished, and believers are forced into underground churches is set to release in theaters nationwide this summer. "Disciples in the Moonlight," starring Brett Varvel, will have a minimum five-day run in more than 1,000 movie theaters starting July 24.
The film's chilling yet captivating subject matter is certain to attract attention, particularly in a beleaguered culture in which religious liberty is a top concern for many. "Disciples in the Moonlight,' takes place in the not-too-distant future after the government has banned the Bible for its 'offensiveness' and replaced it with a government-approved version," a description of the film reads. "A small group of Christians are recruited to smuggle God’s Word to underground churches throughout the Midwest. With a ruthless federal agent in hot pursuit, the believers must choose between following the law or honoring and trusting God."
Varvel, who also directs the film, said the concept came to him 10 years ago, with he and his team working on the project over the past decade to help make it come to fruition. He calls the movie his "love letter to the church of Jesus Christ." "I believe this movie could be the start of a movement in our culture - to awaken people to treasure the Word of God and boldly proclaim the name of Jesus, no matter the cost," the actor said. "The time has now come to share this powerful story delivered by the most incredible cast and crew."
Varvel told CBN News "Disciples in the Moonlight" has long been a dream and passion project. His hope is that the focus remains on Jesus as people come to be entertained and inspired. “From the beginning, I wanted to lift high the Word of God as absolute authority, and something that we should hold highly as absolute truth." he said. "But, then also, the name of Jesus Christ, which is the only name under heaven given to mankind whereby we might be saved." Watch him explain.

Most folk’s aren’t convinced that a day is coming, that to have a Bible would be a death sentence! You are so correct! Even I sometimes get a little complacent! And this is scary, because I know this day is coming if I live long enough! As a Christian we all need to seek the light and word of God first, before anything or anyone else! We need to be the light of God founded and true to His purpose!

As a volunteer for the Voice of the Martyrs I look forward to seeing this. I am so glad God put this on Brett's heart. It's perhaps prophetic. Most of the Persecuted church believes American church turn is coming.
My wife and I have been long time supporters of VOM. We truly believe that something like this is on its way here.
We see how strong the faith is of our brothers and sisters in Christ in nations that persecute them. Such an inspiration to me.
Indeed it is & alot sooner than many care to believe, let alone, acknowledge; & its going to hit us much harder because the general mindset here in America is that it could never happen here...
Yet prophecy has predicted it, current events are foreshadowing it & the history of nations is repeating...
Some of us have already lost a great deal.

Went to a Catholic funeral yesterday and the priest quoted Jesus saying ‘ I am the way TO the truth and the life’. What? Good example of why we need our own copy of the Bible so we are not deceived.

@@DemosBrutus my solution is to NOT put tv and what hype words being slung around on the news over the Word of God and Prayer. Humanity is flawed and that is why we need a savior, this is a basic premise of Christianity. Even the church is full of human beings throughout time working out their own salvation. In the end we each face Judgement based on our own deeds in life. It is a huge error to throw out God based on a narrative spun on Christianity to keep people from salvation. The only way to the Father is through Jesus Christ, The only Church not man made is the Catholic Church. I personally have had enough of the world’s madness. I have submitted my soul to the teachings of the Catholic Church after 20 years of truth seeking. Also, there had definitely been mass killings of Christians from the beginning of the faith, so the argument is flawed.
The American Church has been very blessed and favored. This is coming to an end due to sin. In my country of origin believers are severely persecuted for both. Imprisonment, tortured
and loosing your job. I know this first hand. Pray, believe and witness about our Lord Jesus Christ. Matthew 5:44🙏.

I've been under attack and censored (here on UA-cam) because of sharing the Word. Please brothers and sisters pray for me I feel very isolated and alone because of this. I've been taken away and thrown into the internet prison just because I preached. I'm being very mindful of my words so I don't get banned even while typing this because it might be deleted. Never been attacked like this. I'll never stop sharing the Word but if I share those Words they silence me so how can I be heard and spread the message? I don't know but I'll never give up
Lately, CensorTube has been on a rampage of deleting comments, mine and others, for no rational reason that i can think of. I'm on the verge of no longer watching it.

_I am only one of thousands who over the last 10 years had been led to collect as many bible's as possible and place them strategically, namely areas of their homes containing all necessary supplies for those left behind to find, as we understood the day IS coming where the printed word will mean death. I was awakened one early morning about 20 years ago , by a voice , to my mind , which made me sit bolt upright , startled . READ FROM THE BOOK OF AMOS ,AND STRENGTHEN THE THINGS THAT REMAIN , ! That message still stirs me to this day , I spent a huge time reading it, praying , fasted over it , and the standout message to me is ,Yes , a famine IS COMING to the world, a famine of God's Word, and sadly today , the young people , will be victims of deep ignorance and will be easily taken advantage of , Ignorance is not bliss, IT IS BIAS . , which is territory for the abusers . PRAY , as never before , !❤

Sadly, I fear that this may well happen very soon in real life and in my lifetime, where the most likely place for this to happen is my native Ireland, historically a deeply Catholic country - the truth of this must at all times be proclaimed as widely as possible, as warned by Archbishop Vigano and by Andrew Torba of Gab

This happened in Japan a long time ago...if you watch the movie "Silence", it tells you about that event. There were a small group of Japanese people who were Christians that hid in a cave or village and were forced to say if they believed in Jesus Christ or they would be killed.

Yes, things are lining up. We take our freedoms for granted so often now. When it is lost... we will finally understand everything. We can't even begin to imagine how it could be like to experience it, until it's right there in our faces.

Unfortunately Christianity today isn't what it was when the church was 1st founded, & that's because it has been infiltrated by Roman paganism due to lowering the high standard of righteousness & uniting with pagans/idolaters. What's called Christianity today is nothing short of baptized Paganism or shall I say, Roman Catholicism, but the Bible is a religion; in fact its the only true religion, the only religion that came from GOD & so its the only 1 that can lead to HIM.
