- From my Dutch Van Halen video vault: RARE and EXCLUSIVE footage of a MTV Headbanger's Ball report about Van Halen's 1995 visit to The Netherlands and their "Secret Gig" live gig in Arnhem (or Anaheim). They visit the popular radio DJ Jeroen van Inkel (former radio partner of Adam Curry) of Veronica Radio. Part 2 will follow, soon.

Left the Netherlands when I was 11, every time I get to come back to Utrecht, it's surreal.
I love they accent this is so different for me because I'm Puerto Rican so the me the hear about Dutch language never heard of it before God bless Alex and Eddie Van Halen

Eddie? No he had a strong American accent when he spoke Dutch. It seems to me his American on the other hand was flawless without a Dutch accent (RIP Eddie...;( ) But I am not American, so I could be wrong;)
Alex however has a fairly strong Dutch accent when he speaks American. That is very obvious being Dutch myself.
@@jhaj457 As a native English speaker, I can definitely hear a slight accent (almost a lisp) from Eddie when he spoke in English despite a thorough American accent, I could still hear his native accent.
Brittney King Thank you! I noticed his almost lisping now too! I didn’t connect almost lisping with speaking American with a (Dutch) accent though haha! :)

Everyone talks about their accent, whether its American or Dutch or a bit of both, but what to me always 100% shone through is their Dutch humour, particularly Amsterdam humour. I wasn't born there but the whole family was, but its incredible how their humour is so different from American humour. But its not even that Dutch in general, it's real Amsterdammer, which shines through in a lot of interviews. Which is incredible in itself seeing how soon in their lives they moved to the States. Their parents did a stellar job not only speaking to them at home in their native language but also the humour and little nuances and quips they have.

Where did Eddie get his inspirations for songs and the tones he came up with for them? Well, here is an excerpt from a January 1997 Guitar World interview Eddie connected. It was in an article titled UNCHAINED MELODIES by Steven Rosen. These are actual quotes by Eddie Van Halen given: “It’s a wicked feeling when a complete piece of music comes to you. But it’s not me, I’m just a vehicle and I really believe that.” “I ended up writing five songs that day including the music for Me Wise Magic. It blew my mind. I just didn’t want to believe I could do it without drinking.” “Then she had me do some yoga and meditation and some chanting. Next she had me close my eyes and imagine the room that you go to after you’ve had a six-pack of beer. Really try and feel that place. The therapist continued and said, Look you’ve been chosen to do this. All you are doing by drinking is blocking it. It’s a lot easier for them to send it when you are clear.

Also, Valerie Bertenelli is wicked as well. Valerie is an icon of show business and why is that? Yes she is pretty and she seems to have done a great job raising her son Wolfgang Van Halen. But she has been known to attend the Kabbalah Center and she wears a red string on her wrist which signifies allegiance to the devil. Just in time for MTV which debuted a few months later. Music and Television merges and Eddie and Valerie helped it a long. MTV went on to be a socialistic enterprise to destroy culture. See the 11’s? The family is Christian. Alex is in fact an ordained minister. They would speak one on one about their faith, but they never force it or beat anyone over the head with it. God never abandoned them through all the years of success, rebellion, challenges, and spiritual struggles.
