I had my 2010 fx35 do the same thing. My Fini would go into limp mode for a little while as I was coasting to a stop, or red light, and it would jump back into gear by itself. I changed my transmission oil 3 times after every 500 miles. And now it feels better. Change the transmission fluid regularly when needed.
I had to replace 2 transmissions because of this same problem. Now got another to do same p0720 and won't past 3rd. I'm starting to think now that these have the same problem as the G35 with the front brake circuit in the TCM, where u go in and solder the circuit back.
Some of you probably already know but if you have an extended warranty and your car is modified (mines: long tube cold air intakes, catless exhaust, uprev tuned) your warranty may be voided. I'm having an issue with my car not shifting out of third gear. I filed a claim, there inspector came out and saw l was modified so Mercury Mechanical Protection voided my warranty.

@@elkarim9929 took it somewhere and I believe he just replaced the tcm. It drove perfectly before but now sometimes slips going to 2nd and shifts harder than it did on heavy acceleration. Idk if that caused It or it could be from him using new fluid idk if he did or not.
Great knowledge video. Question: if a new valve body and TCM are installed that is blank (not programmed), can the vehicle still be driven in a limp mode (1-2-3 Gear) to the dealer for programming or will the vehicle not be drivable at all?
i gotta do this and the p0725 , u1000 and p1815 had a leak in my harness and or car and got into the ecm so i have to replace all that with the tcm appreciate this video and i really hope this is for thge p0721 as well i have the rwd is the 0720 for you estimation vehicle speed signal

Hello I purchased a refurbished valve body and put it into my Q50 2014 RWD and it’s working well The only thing is that when I pop it into manual mode, it won’t work correctly. Also, if I try to pop it back in to drive, the D won’t show up and it stays in the gear that it was in when in manual mode. Do you think it has to do with the valve body or something was not plugged in correctly? Thanks for your input

Was an expensive solution and seems to be completely unnecessary because it was not a mechanical issue in the first place. Seems to be common among Infiniti vehicles around the 70-80k mile mark.

You may be correct. I just had this problem on my Q, had to have it towed to dealership. Missed the powertrain warranty by 1 month. Now I have to pay. They are asking 2500+ to replace valve body and refill with 8 qts of fluid. They pulled a PO720 code but said the valve body is the issue. My car doesnt even have 60k miles yet. 😤. I'm waiting to hear back from Infiniti on final costs.
@@antonyh37 3 weeks later and I haven’t had another issue with it nor has the check engine light came on. I’ve got 88k on mine right now and it’s under warranty but they only want to cover it once it’s actually failed. So I’ll keep driving until then maybe I’ll get lucky and it won’t come up again for awhile
@@r2ba435 sounds like they are trying to ride it out to get you to pay when it finally fails. When mines fully failed I was in stop and go traffic. Didnt realize till I turned off a side street and it was just revving after 3rd gear.
@@r2ba435 if I were you I'd take it on a nice long road trip with Infiniti dealerships on the route. Make sure you have good roadside assistance beforehand tho. Get it done before it costs you money.

Good video I have a 2007 M45 with P0717 input speed transmission but I don't know where is located,my car it's shifting good just in 2 and 3 take more time and give me a big chock ,but when the car is running for a wile that's hot the chock is lees than the beginning, you can feel it if you put a lot of attention to that, I would like to know what do you think about that, the speed it's ok ,it's running normally, do I need to program that sensor after replacement?

Last i heard from someone I know he was quoted almost 2000 dollars. It was cheaper for him to get another transmission instead. At least thats what he told me.
@@gautorepair had a 720 today.. For the 7AT AWD it's cheaper to replace the valve body. The awd trans are between 1600 and 2500.. At infiniti in colorado it's 1750 out the door for valve body r&r and tcm reprogramming. Good vid man.
It varies from shop to shop. If you buy your own part do your self a favor and get it from the dealer. Tour not going to like the price but your going to save yourself the headaches
You need special equipment to program modules. A computer, a pass thru device, and subscription to the vehicle manufacturer. An alternative is a provider, such as opus with the rap2 subscription and they can program it for you remotely. However i have learned that on the Nissan 7 speed transmission the tcm is pre programmed.

My 2017 QX50 just started this exact issue, unable to shift into 4th gear. I’m bringing it over to Infinity this week for diagnostics.

The tcm is part of the valve body so you have to replace the whole thing then program
WHAT IF IT IS the transmission speed sensor? Then it shouldn't be as difficult as it seems for this car in ur video?
You still have to take down the oil pan and teardown some of the transmission to get to it

Nissan has the software in their Control 3 Plus system. You'll either have to take it to Nissan or a shop with Control 3 subscription.
