Thanks for creating a UA-cam video that isn't "click bait" expressing some negative opinion about either one of these ear phone is as often the case these days. You present the facts with real world comparisons of each and ask the viewer to decide. That's the fair way to do a comparison. Your real world comparison between the call quality was definitely discernible giving the nod to the OpenFit, however call quality didn't make it on my criteria list since I mostly listen to music. I ended up with Bose OpenAir Ultra from the criteria I established for myself: So I started out with Sennheiser Momentum True 3 earbuds. They irritated my ears so I returned them. Thinking that all in ear earbuds are not all the same I went out on a limb and purchased The BOSE Quiet Comfort II's and the same thing they irritated me but because I didn't know about the open ear category at the time I kept them living with the discomfort thinking that this is as good as is gets. Enter this new category of open ear head phones that I discovered. Hmmm these might be good to look into. So now as a experienced consumer I set up some criteria for open ear head phones and I wanted all the boxes that were important to me to be checked or I would take a pass: * They have to comfortable and not hurt my ears. CHECK * They have to be lightweight and less bulky like all the other open air head phones. CHECK * They must sound good realizing they won't sound as good as in ear head phones CHECK * They must be comfortable in bed when I lay on my side. These are the FIRST headphones I can wear to bed and fall asleep to music while wearing them. With all the others it's like wearing a light bulb sticking in your ear when I lay on my side. BIG CHECK * Noise cancellation wasn't important to me because I have both BOSE N700 and Sennheiser Momentum 4 over the ear head phones for noise cancellation when I'm mowing the lawn or on an airplane. CHECK While I would like these to be more affordable they check all the boxes for me and that's why I bought them. While the other open ear specs are better. I don't listen to specs. I listen to music and I think they sound great! David

Great and far comparison. I have both. I listen to mostly music with jazz and heavier bass (especially since I'm a bassist). However, as a seasoned adult (67) I wear readers and sometimes glasses. I have yet to come across anyone talking about Openfit and wearing glasses. I would like to hear your thoughts. My opinion is Openfit is more difficult to wear with glasses than Bose.
Excellent review and a big help for me in making a choice between these two earbuds. . I particularly liked your analysis of how and why the sound quality differs.
I went running with the Bose ear cuffs, and when you’re out running, the Bose will settle onto your ear lobe. The sound actually comes alive. I turned off the immersive sound to get a more direct sound. I wore the shokz buds to work and I started getting ear aches with the hook. The sound is really good. I found myself getting frustrated when I answer and end calls. Since the open fits are not snug in the fitting, when I tap the buds, I have to hold the bud with one finger and tap with another finger. The buds sort of hang or hover over my ear canal, they don’t sit snug. If it wasn’t for the price I would take the Bose any day. The Bose firmware update fixed a lot of issues, but I was not able to try the multipoint feature as I ended up returning them due to the steep price tag.
Thanks very much for this comparison. I am old timer die hard Bose fan, and I didn’t know they had this product. But I do have the Shokz and I’m very happy, I’m a bit confused with your review because I hear you say Bose is better, but yet all the points are in favor of Shokz. Anyway what really made a difference to me was the shocking difference in call mics quality, no way I’ll get Bose. Happy with the half price Shokz ( which I already have)
I tried on some of these in Media Market in Germany (Shokz open Fit) ..Passing through...I was really impressed and think I want an open ear for many reasons. I have closed earbuds and they have their place too. Being able to have several is sweet in itself!!! Thanks to your review I was very familiar with what to expect. Thank you for that!! Sam's has the Shokz on sale as of May 8, 2024 and will last until June 8, 2024. $30 off. Thanks for the sound test, that was awesome! I just purchased my pair today and the Shokz sound is awesome! They feel so light and they have not budge at all. I have very small ears and 99% of the ear buds just fall out of my ear every time I wear them.
Great review! Just would like to mention that openfit's case is more that twice the size of bose ultra open! Its giant and migth be really unconfortable to get it inside your pocket.
Great video and very helpful! I like the way you presented the information and comparison. The mic test was an important part for me as I want to have the best possible sound for the other party on a call. Keep up the nice work!
The multipoint is amazing for an office setting - they're great for being aware of your surroundings. I can pause my music or lecture and answer the office phone or pause to participate in a conversation with the person in front of me, but I'm able to still hear everything going on around me with my audio going.
For someone who'd only use them at home for some training and running. I only care about them not falling off and being snug when doing some exercises like bench press or crunches where you're placed horizontally. I don't care about taking calls with them, not the reason I would buy them anyway so would you say Bose are the no. 1 pick?
My biggest beef with any of the newest bluetooth/open fit headsets, is the fact that you have to carry the freaking case around with you if you want to shut them off. Can you please tell me if the Bose open fit has the ability to power them down or disconnect them from your phone by utilizing any of the buttons on the earbuds themselves? I don't want to have to pull my phone out of my pocket, pull the drop down menu and toggle off bluetooth when I want to disconnect the earbuds if I don't have the case with me. I like to leave bluetooth toggled on at all times and power the devices off individually if need be.
I’m down to try these. I got some of the Bose for a discount and they’re slick. I find that I use them Way more than my AirPod Pro 2 just because they don’t fall out of my ears and they’re quite comfortable. But the Shokz just seem better overall.
I had the Bose and loved them except for the call quality, it was horrible. Hated to return them, but the call quality was that bad. Hope they fix this.
Great review. I use the Shokz OpenRun Pro for working out but not ideal for my daily driver. I'm going to have to try the Open Fit. Word on the street is that OpenFit firmware update includes multipoint connection. The Bose are too expensive maybe during next Black Friday the price will come down $150-$200. The Shokz OpenFit mic performance was better.
No idea if that's only for me but the bose open ultra work way better if i slide them down as much as i can towards my earlobe. The sound is way louder and they i have the most comfort that way
Good review but you are wearing the Bose wrong. To get the best results the speaker has to be pointed correctly towards your ear canal. There are copy cat ear clips that you can buy in Indonesia ( I am on holiday ). I bought my wife LenovoThinkPlus XT83 II recently costing approximately US 8 Dollars including postage from China. It arrived 5 days after we ordered it. Look like the Huawei ones. My wife has been using them for 3 days , sound and battery life are good enough for listening to UA-cam etc. We don't care about the microphone. Volume is a bit low if you only wear one compared to Shokz Openfit. Very comfortable. Just found that Baseus also have similar ear clips, I have ordered them for me to use , the Baseus ones cost a lot more at twice the price ( 17 US Dollars ).

I wear glasses and find that open buds that wrap over the top of my ears get really uncomfortable. I jumped on the Bose Black Friday sale and love the Ultra Open design, way more comfortable.
I loved the shokz as far as comfort and call sound quality but ive been through 2 sets of shokz and my wifes shokz all quit on us. They're good until they stop charging or wont turn on. I had the open comm which were awesome for me being a trucker and the open run all of them died in less than a year of having them.
What about wind noise when riding bicycle? By the looks of things I would guess that the Shokz would provide a more "silent" experience as they go more inside the ear. The Bose`s looks like they are more outside of the ear. I feel that all these reviews are forgetting this issue.
Good video, I really appreciate the audio test with the traffic. The real world test is better in my book to me. The audio did sound better with the shockz open fit to. But this 100% helped me make my decision
After watching so many reviews I see now that sound quality is subjective. I bought the Oladance OWS Pro and returned them because I also bought the Shokz Openfit and immediately loved the sound of the Shokz. It was very evident to me they had better sound, not even close. Yet in some reviews it is backwards. The Shokz got a really low sound quality score and the Oladance get top score. And here is another shocker for anyone interested in reading more. I really seek to find best sound quality on over ear buds. I don't like earbuds that stick into my ear canal. Therefore I've had a few: I even just bought the Bose Open Earbuds Ultra and was hugely disappointed, will be returning them. Every reviewer I saw said the sound quality was WOW on the Bose! They even compared it to the Shokz Openfit that I love and they said it beat the Shokz. So I bought it to try it for myself. I was really excited, something that will sound better then the Shokz?! Nope! Not to me. The Bose have a really sharp harsh sound, I don't like it, is that sound quality? They don't even have a nice bass sound like the Shokz. I've tried using the EQ but they are not even close to sounding as good and warm as the Shokz to me. Maybe I don't know what sound quality is but to me the Shokz Openfit have the better sound then the Oladance & Bose I've mentioned here. I have had and used all kinds of expensive earphones and still use some inside the ear earphones but very rarely this past year. I'm really into over the ear ones now. I’ve owned $500 wired in ear Shures 535, $400 Ultimate Ears Triplefi 10vi in ear phone buds, $550 AirPods Max, $250 AirPods Pro 2 and other cheaper ones. I hold these expensive models in high regards. The best one being the Shures 535. But what I’m striving for now is the best over earphone, not-inside you ear earphones. And it seems I will just have to try them for myself because everyone’s taste is subjective. In reality I really don’t need to keep searching because the Shoks Openfit really impress me. I think I just need to ignore reviews that say they are low sound quality and stop looking over the fence searching for a greener grass.
Took the Bose back because of the microphone. I really liked the design but the call quality was really bad. Hope version 2 is much better as I would definitely pick those up.
Yea definitely, the call quality was terrible, callers couldn't hear you and they sounded far away, also the app was buggy too, I took mine back as well
Yeah, they definitely sound better further down the ear, I do think they're slightly more comfortable the way he wore them though so I tend to change the EQ setting based on position. There's way too much treble further up to a point where I have to dial the treble down to -10 to compensate for the fit. But I do really like how I can change the sound and comfort based on the fit
Hey looking fwd to future videos, I’m a Mail carrier and outside 6-8 hrs a day, I have Bose Powerbeats pro which I love but looking for over the ear and wondering which u think I should look at. Thank u for the videos I have been watching 😊
Personally i dont recommend bose because of the noise floor, theres a high hiss when I play the music, its pretty annoying when im trying to hear some quiet music or some asmr when im trying to sleep. I go to the store and test other bose ultra open earbuds and they all have the same problem. And bose ultra's mic is so low quality so i doubt that they mixed the mic function with the stereo function. So every time I play music, bose automatically open the mic and the high hiss comes out. Jesus that's the same problem with other bose QC headphones ,when they open their mic the same high hiss noise floor shows up. And the price of bose ultra doesn't match up with it's quality . But still it's really comfortable to wear and use , I really hope they could fix the problem by updating (cause I bought my bose ultra in Bic camera in Japan, and they can't refund me because it's bose's problem ,they did nothing wrong. witch make sense to me , bose published a production that have issue and seems they don't have a plan to fix it up. 😢)
The Shokz mic was hands-down, dramatically better. I have these and have been pretty happy with them. I use them for just ordinary things like talking on the phone. I don't have to hold the phone or use the speakerphone. People find it hard to hear me on speakerphone...too much distortion. These solved that and I can walk around the house and talk. I also like them for walking the dog while listening to music. I can still hear people and cars that may be behind me so I haven't noticed them yet. Don't want the dog darting out toward a car! I actually forget I'm wearing them. They are pretty comfortable. For the price, I think they're a good buy. However, I don't really love the touch button. I haven't mastered it yet. Sometimes it seems to work and sometimes not.
Bose clearly spent all their budget on hiring celebrities for their advertising and skimped on their product quality. The microphone was easily beaten by the competition.
@@itsmedggalo2013 I'm not sure if the difference quality sound is that big. I think the quality in this type of headphones is relative and we should consider that the c30i cost 4 times less than Bose
Shokz , I picked from HK in one of the store at Decathlon. 3 Months later the product stopped working. It won't disconnect from the phone or Mac even after it's inside the charging case. The product is so bad that even though you manually disconnect its still goes and connect to the last known device. The battery drys off ... and left ear bud won't charge and right ear gets charged because some contact issue with magnetic. The product is failure ... and they sell at 60 // 70 or 80% discount . This company uses all 3rd grade chip and usb software made by some cheap company. How one can compare to product like BOSE !!! . The SHOKZ customer care took my product back.. more than 2 weeks still no sign of delivery or responding to emails. Observe the way the keep pushing new products every quarter ... these aggressive measures if the put on quality inside the product it will be worth time and value.
Purchased the Bose earlier this week. Mic/Call quality is Atrocious. Bought the Shokz OpenFit this evening and will pick up tomorrow. Returning the Bose. Thanks for the review.
I really like them. The mic quality is so much better and they are very comfortable. If you are going to use them for phone calls, the OpenFit is the way to go.
Just got the Bose for Diamond 60th Edition from QVC for $250 including tax ($20 off for new customer) and I gotta say: total disappointment. I don't agree the sound quality of Bose is better than the Shokz. These Bose are going back. I was at least hoping the sound quality would justify the price. I have heard other reviewers say the sound and the fit of the Bose were A+. The only thing they win is the design and fit. The design is cool how it hooks, but that is all. Shokz is hands down better and they feel great wearing them for hours.
I don't know why regular calls are barely audible and music and everything else is fine. If you are a person who receives a lot of calls or spends a lot of time talking on the phone, DO NOT BUY THE BOSE OPEN ULTRA. I bought the Bose and my only complaint is that with very little surrounding noise you can barely hear the calls. For everything else they are excellent. If your goal is to have headphones to go to the gym, listen to music without worrying about them falling out of your ear and that are comfortable, then the Bose are for you. But regular calls are barely audible unless it is quite quiet.
Had both but my girl laughed asking why im wearing earrings when trying the bose out. Def not a good look for some men lol. the shokz look/sound better by far and are only $139 rn.
Wholly cow! Bose should be COMPLETELY ashamed with that difference in microphone quality. From what you showed BOSE should have just left the microphone off and not made such a crappy attempt!

Thank you!
After watching 50 videos on everything I Just purchased the Shokz open run pro 2 in orange will be shipped in 8 days
Took the Bose back because of the microphone. I really liked the design but the call quality was really bad.
Hope version 2 is much better as I would definitely pick those up.
Yea I'm not sure what Bose is doing with their microphones, they all sound hollow and inconsistent
Yea definitely, the call quality was terrible, callers couldn't hear you and they sounded far away, also the app was buggy too, I took mine back as well
I love the shokz but I have killed everyone of them about 5 pairs 😢 Lost connection , one stopped working and stopped charging .
I think you’re supposed to wear the ultra open lower in the ear than you are wearing in your video for better sound quality.
45 degrees, not parallel to the ground.
Great review man, much appreciated!!!!!!!
Danke für den Vergleich.
Hey looking fwd to future videos, I’m a Mail carrier and outside 6-8 hrs a day, I have Bose Powerbeats pro which I love but looking for over the ear and wondering which u think I should look at. Thank u for the videos I have been watching 😊
So is 249 a deal?
Are you specifically looking for an "open" design without a silicon eartip?
I love my ultra open and qc ultra..I can never listen to music in stereo mode after listening to Bose immersion mode.
thanks man. excellent review.
A vs between these Boses and the Huawei FreeClips would be welcome.
🙏🏽
Ps: Even though I think the Huawei are much better for a lot cheaper.
best wireless earbuds

Very good review mane the shokz are so nice!
Which of the two has the loudest sound?
Damn The Shokz mic 🔥🔥!
Helpful mic test, thank you
All I could think about while watching was: WHERE DID YOU GET THAT SHIRT FROM?
potbofficial.com
thanks for the honest feedback
OMG ! The "Open Fit's" microphone are Dramatically better. Which happens to be obd of my main concerns for work.
Bose clearly spent all their budget on hiring celebrities for their advertising and skimped on their product quality. The microphone was easily beaten by the competition.
Good video!! Can you do a comparative between soundcore C30i, this Bose ultra and Huawei Free clips?, I think is more similar dispositives
C30i is a knock off of Bose. It will give you problem on connecting to your phone. And the quality of sound is midlevel
@@itsmedggalo2013 I'm not sure if the difference quality sound is that big. I think the quality in this type of headphones is relative and we should consider that the c30i cost 4 times less than Bose
Great review!!
Are The shoks true multipoint ?
great video, thank you!
Where can we buy that shirt you wearing from?

I’m listening to this on my Huawei free clips which I love ❤
Shokz is on sale atm, so yeah theyre half the price of the Bose.
Good review sounds like the shokz are the winner
That was a really insightful post
Thank you !
How are you liking the Open Fit so far?
I really like them. The mic quality is so much better and they are very comfortable. If you are going to use them for phone calls, the OpenFit is the way to go.
Test drive at 5:45 - the Shockz beats the Bose easily for mic quality
Just got the Bose for Diamond 60th Edition from QVC for $250 including tax ($20 off for new customer) and I gotta say: total disappointment. I don't agree the sound quality of Bose is better than the Shokz. These Bose are going back. I was at least hoping the sound quality would justify the price. I have heard other reviewers say the sound and the fit of the Bose were A+. The only thing they win is the design and fit. The design is cool how it hooks, but that is all. Shokz is hands down better and they feel great wearing them for hours.
The Shokz OpenFit are simply AMAZING!! The Mic Outdoors was NO Contest!! Shokz All Day!!!
But regular calls are barely audible unless it is quite quiet.
what did you go with
What they won’t tell you is replacement for a missing earbud is impossible. You’re better off with an apple AirPod at least it can be replaced.
For someone who is wearing spectacles which one is better?
I'd imagine the bose
appreciate the review. the Bose is to expensive, and should be perfect for that price. the poor mic quality is a big negative.
I bought both and I wish I bought the shokz first. Hands down shokz are way better
Had both but my girl laughed asking why im wearing earrings when trying the bose out. Def not a good look for some men lol. the shokz look/sound better by far and are only $139 rn.
Greetings to you from Saudi Arabia, thank you habibi 🫶❤️
Greetings to you also!
Shokz mics sound better
Definitely
700th LIKE 👍
Good lord the Bose mic test sounded garbage… if my friends sounded like that i would’ve just hung up on them LOL
Shocks sounds much better on the phone mode!
That mic test wtf!!!
Shockz mic is much better.
Anybody that says the Bose is better than the Shokx is obviously a fanboy or girl..
HUAWEI free clips 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Bose call quality is trash. I had to return them
Wholly cow! Bose should be COMPLETELY ashamed with that difference in microphone quality. From what you showed BOSE should have just left the microphone off and not made such a crappy attempt!
🏁🏁🏁
Bose for the price sound garbage. Wf5 are far superior
I bought the Bose and i must say don’t waste your money on the bose
@@user-oj8ss4zq3x I think it's great.
i think your positioning bose ultra open wrong
THE SHOKZ SOUNDS THE BEST WHEN TALKING, REAL TALK
The Bose open earbuds audio lag is HORRIBLE.
Thought Charles Flenory was doing reviews 🫠😭
