- I advanced the ignition timing a bit. Didn't want to blow it up so it was about 4 degrees and on a stock black ignition box. you can hear it crackle in the exhaust from it. enjoy!
I advanced my timing and you're right it was worth it
Nice
Watch out for those piston rings ...
ohhh yeah lol.
I wish there was an adjustable timing map to get the ignition dialed in for both high and low rpm. Anyone messing with dirt bike ignitions?
Is it really worth it to advance the timing?
If you have the right pipe, and other variables, yes. Just depends on if you want top end or more low to mid range torque
@@wtmotobikes8838 I just ordered the firestorm zeda 80 engine today
I got that same bike with motor on it its amazing noice video
Nice lol rip/ride, ggz
So you’re in the Pacific Northwest too? What octane do you run after advancing?
Yeah I’m down in the valley near Albany Oregon. I run 91 in everything. If the compression is less than 150psi I won’t bother with higher octane than 91. But when I race I usually run straight 110octane fuel mixed 40:1 because I usually run higher compression along with advanced ignition timing.
Mine pops alot at full throttle what can I do
Either your to rich up top and need to jet down or your ignition is to advanced and you need higher grade fuel. I’d bet on the first one tho
Is it good for long trips?
Honestly, not really. It’s more prone to problems if you run to advanced
What exactly does advancing it do
Fires before top dead center as the piston comes up. Adds low end torque.
Engines in general are probably retarded. Advancing it can be useful, but I think there are problems with piston integrity, fuel not burning fast enough since carburetors don't atomized like injectors. Higher revs outcome. Valve springs for 4 strokes should be stronger. Ignition coil too. Putting 2-4 degrees is good.
allows the spark plug to fire and burn the fresh charge air/fuel mixture in advance before the piston reach top dead center. because of this, you're allowing time for the air/fuel mixture to burn and expand longer during the combustion process. in benefits of this mod will allow you have more torque throughout the entire RPM range. the down fall of this mod is that you risk blowing your motor.
@@iceyaj3167 you won't blow the motor if you only advance the timing a normal amount and don't hold the rpms high for a long period of time 2 strokes don't like that
What did you do to adjust the timing?
that is a great question. let me make a video about it real quick lol
There are plenty of videos that show you but you just file down the woodruff key some and then you can turn the magnet either way. Turn towards the back tire it will advance the timing turn it towards the front tire it retards the timing
