I had the V1 but my pinky toes were pinched and blistered. Wide feet. Main difference for me is the WIDE option in V2. Game changer for me. I'm almost retiring my first pair of Glideride 2 (since they ran out in my size for MONTHS and MONTHS I only used them for races). I'm a slower run/walker and these are my best shoe ever. Finally they got new shoes in and I bought 2 pairs of the 2's in my wide size :) I have ankle dorsiflexion issues - and these are awesome for that and other foot issues. Love them!
Have a few pairs. Love them. Also, they are very stable. I don't heel strike and they work fine. The fit is great. Definitely no ground feel and built for miles. I wish they had a heel tab as the rounded heel top and snug fit make them a pain to put on!
Thanks for review Edd. Currently my rotation consists 2 x Glideride 1 & 2 x Glideride 2 - just love the Glideride! Ran a 23 min 5km in them the other day! Not bad for someone the wrong side of 45!
338 I bought this one. Only concerns were back counter and slight rubbing over right foot. Boy.. how I was wrong! A week running in them and big smile on my cheeks. Wish I had a way to cut off bursa part left by Renew Run Nike shoe. So even with a bump on a heel and Glideride 2's firm counter nothing really. Peg 37 gave me such a nightmare. I don't use running knot on Glideride 2. Holds really good. My left foot is like at home. Right one always giving off weird sensations, in any shoe really. Like there is space although I know there isn't . Mind playing tricks on me. It is low back injury. Upper have stretched, no rubbing at all. I got this one for 98 eur. People notice shoe on street. :-)) To me it looks like boot. And I love it. Thank you Asics A6X! Novablast 2 when I add more Earth credits. Hope your arm is good, getting better Eddbud!
I like you even more now Ed after this music recommendation. I must be honest and say that I don't like a lot of what you recommend (sorry but really dislike generic indie bands like The Fratellis, Kasabian, etc) but Scott Walker is fucking ace. Scott 3 is my favourite but I like them all even his more weird shit like Tilt, Drift and even his final album Bish Bosh. One of the very best.
Underrated shoe. The whole Ride series is underrated. I got both the Evoride 2 and Glideride 2. Def. awesome. The rocker design definitely helps with efficiency even just a little bit. You get less fatigue.
I have quite an arsenal of shoes for every occasion. In so far, the Glideride 1 and 2 that I have bought using my own earth credits have been the ones that bought me through my own Marathon trainings. Albeit, heavy and slow, they have kept my feet functional enough to write this response. They are still alive and kicking and for anyone looking at buying a shoe for the long haul, the Glideride is definite a must for Marathon rotation. But specifically, I gravitate to the Glideride 2 now for anything from 20 mile and above for my long run. Don’t penny pick about the savings you get from Glideride 1 as the 2 gives more bang for the buck!
Really enjoying your reviews, Edd! The GR2s have been a revelation for me as a runner with hallux rigidus - the stiffness/rocker takes a lot of pressure off the big toe joints. On that note - is there any chance you could give shoes a bit of a squish squash squosh when you review them? Sort of pushing them from the front to see how stiff they are? It's really helpful in getting an idea if they'll work for those of us with sore toes! A lack of retail stores means it's hard these days to feel and try on most running shoes before you order a pair.
230kms on mine and I am going to get some gait analysis tomorrow. Need a bit more support, they work best if you go faster than 6min/km so they might end up as my fast shoe. Eddxitlude ended up an interlude today anyway, I like the running footage on the end.
I love my GlideRide 2 but it is missing some extra support for my arch to evade overpronation. Nothing severe like a Kayano or even a an Asics Gel-Cumulus 23 but some thing close to a Nimbus 23 would be enough . The rigidity of the heel counter of the GlideRide 2 is not enough ... Great video !
@@patrickney846 true but most neutral shoes have the midsole a bit more rigid near the arch to give a better support for the feet. Shoes like Nike Vomero and Pegasus , Asics Nimbus/Cumulus , New Balance 1080/More ,Adidas Adizero Boston and Adios. But for some reason the GlideRide 2 don't have that but the worst shoe I have ever tried is the original Nova Blast that had no support at all anywhere and I would overpronate and oversupinate just by walking. Asics makes some amazing shoes but the GlideRide can improve more in the future for runners that have light overpronation . Like I said, most neutral running shoes do have at least a tiny support to help the arch to not collapse.
I had the V1 and didn’t get along it because of the aggressive plated rocker in the front. Round about mile 6 my hip would start yelping like a dog that got into a bee’s nest. The rigidity of the forefoot is too much. I found the same issue with the Endorphin Speed. Funny thing is the Endorphin Pro doesn’t bother my hip at all. 🤔. Great review as always EDD.
I'm still running in the original GlideRides. I had quite a bit of problems with my calves and I tried several shoes, but the GlideRide rocker sensation really worked out the best.
Hi there, got the Glideride 2. I thought it will be a good recovery shoe but at slow (jogging) pace it feels like a brick.. Going faster to long run pace it becomes excellent. Stable, comfortable and my legs feel fresh as if I have a day off even after a long run.. Quite amazing. Now I need to find a lighter shoe for jogging /recovery with some stability..
Maybe the musical interlude is more of an outro or a hidden track! I enjoy your insights as a fan and a musician. You ever include any heavier artists?
Not tried GR2 but the GR1 was innovative I thought. I could genuinely run 20 miles and feel like I'd run 14. Despite the weight I could run quickly too, probably because the very pronounced rocker propels you forward.
Is the upper still pretty dense like the GlideRide v1? I find it rather hot and only wear them in winters now. For slow slogs I find them rather, well, slow and not at all responsive. However, I discovered last week that these shoes really made me fly when I had to break into a sprint to get away from a potential road rage incident. Long story short, I took a pic of a dangerous driver to report him to police; he started chasing me and I took off feeling confident I could out-run him. Well I broke my own 1 mile speed record of 2.54 min/km. This was the first time I ran these shoes at speed and WOW! did they help me fly! I will next use them for my speed intervals while the cooler weather lasts. The plastic plate in these shoes gave me a distinct feeling of propulsion at that speed. Certainly a surprise package for me. I just wish the upper was more breathable so that I could wear them during the warmer months.
I think there is a definite difference between high stack and max cushioned though both eliminate road feel max cushion is when you sink in and there is little to no energy return where as you can still get energy back in a high stack shoe. I guess that where durometre comes in.🤷♂️😳 I think they should be using the cushion tech with lower stack heights personally.🤔
I picked this one up after another reviewer mentioned it....saying it helped w/ his IT band pain which is something I battle in the higher mileage too. I've got only 1 or 2 runs in it so far. Jury is still out.... I'm not used to shoes this stiff and rigid. I'll give it a few more chances and see if it can win me over too. Definitely not as a daily shoe...but just here and there.
@@i.p2088 I've not run in them enough to know...only have used them a couple times. I think doing lots of squats and lunges is a better bet for fixing IT band issues, and working on flexibility. I did a 20 miler yesterday and got through it w/ no IT band issues....and I think its because of the leg strength exercises I've been doing.
Edd looking for some advice. I've found these Asics Glideride 2 on sale for £80. But should I get these or the Puma Velocity for £70? I've just retired my Clifton 6 so want a new pair for daily use. Cheers 👍

Hi Ed. I had to give my glideride 1 away as the rocker was so far back and so aggressive they gave me hamstring issues. Do you think it's less aggressive in the rocker. 👍
This is a confusing shoe. It’s heavy/max cushion that wants to go fast. I could never work it into regular use. Too much plate. I couldn’t really use my toes.
@@EDDBUD 🥳🍻 congrats on the England victory. And for the review of this one. I have v1 and like it but as you say it’s for certain uses. I’m on my second pair of gliderides, it’s never let me down and a solid long run shoe in my rotation.

Agree with this completely, I have been considering putting some padding into the arch under the sockliner.
I think it’s down to the low profile of the collar.
