The Gliderides 3 was a great shoe, glad ASICS didn’t give up on this shoe. Your video was a nice testament to how great the shoe was only overshadowed by a great Novablast v3.
I ran my first marathon in the Superblast. It was definitely the correct choice. It is excels at marathon pace quite well without a plate. Not to mention, I recovered much faster post-marathon.
@@Ben-yw8behad superblast 1 reached 400miles and superblast 2 that just arrived, i can say theres lot of improvement in upper and ff turbo+ sole. And I agree, non plated shoes gives quicker recovery. Thats why I avoid plated shoes if theres another option.
Thanks for the review Mike. I had all the 3 series of Glideride. Heavy and built like a tank for cruising. Really loved them very much. Hope the Glideride max lived up to the lineage of its predecessors.
Thanks Kofuzi really helpful. You obvs have a relationship with Asics. Any chance of nudging them to make more of their line fit us bigger footed runners. I'm a Euro 50.5 and the Superblast that I want isn't in this size. Please can u help us flipper footed runners Great channel Andy
Originally wanted the Superblast 2s, but they we're sold out. These started to grab my attention. I think they look good also, and I thought they would be a good enough option, but then Puma came out with the MagMax is White 🤤. Then they sold out once I wanted to pull the trigger. Even though Asics just restocked, I've already made up my mind on the MagMax. ❤
Nice. My current rotation is: NB3 (daily), MS4 (tempo, threshold), SB1 (LR w WO), SkyP. But I need a fast turnover shoe for hill repeats, fartleks, track work, VO2 max. I thought of the Hyperspeed. I appreciate a recommendatoin. Thanks, Mike.
I still have the Glideride 2 and ahar is still intact. The upper is going to waste away but the outsole is not. Definitely a 2000km training shoe. The heel/midToToe feeling that Kofuzi is describing is very much present in this pair.
It's great to hear that the Pumas are so good and that they secretly inspire you. They're like a secret favorite. Puma should not be underestimated. Asics are also super great sneakers alongside other big companies.
Ran a marathon in VF3, caused me footpain at 27K. Ran another marathon 3 weeks later in rather new Novablast 4, much tougher course, no issues, 13 min faster. I even ran 90K the week postmarathon. Will do a 1/2 in Superblast 2 on Sunday, aiming for a good experience instead of a New PB. You think SB will be faster than NB4?
These give me massive nimbus lite vibes like they could have totally just called these nimbus lite or nimbus elite. Feels like asics version of a cloud monster hyper. I will say these seem less versatile and the price point seems kinda higher then expected. Compared to the rest of market these seems to be more of a recovery/daily trainer rather then a performance trainer. I guess that’s refreshing in a market filled with 40mm plus and carbon/nylon plates. Having a shoe that feels comfortable and not as aggressive is nice.
Can't wait! Tried a few shoes after having to retire my OG GlideRides and missed out on the V3's. Interesting point on the perceived sinking into the shoe feel, could be an attempt to pronounce that feeling for the bigger guys instead of them just sinking into the midsole quicksand style, like I did with my Nimbus 25's.
Oh boy. Hope this means there will be a new evo-ride. (First shoe I bought when I started thinking about running shoes seriously, after watching the kofuzi video on it. And boy, I loved that shoe and would take a fresh pair no hesitation - for a reasonable price that is).
Thanks. Very detailed and excellent review. Had version 3 and didn't love it. Kinda boring. Might try these. Love my SuperBlast 2s and NovaBlast 4s. I will have to figure out how I justify the GlideRide Max purchase to my girlfriend.😆
I can't remember which video I had a long and borderline silly discussion of how soft is a function of time. feels like it would be a good time to have that link handy
I love the novablast 3 for my daily trainers. What would you recommend for a mostly downhill marathon? I’m running the Las Vegas marathon in Nov and it’s all downhill 😅
@@wonkydonkey7899 Max Stack Wars! Not complaining, but it’s kind of wild that this is “normal.” I busted out an old pair of Nimbus 23 the other day, which is cushy as ever at what feels like half of the stack height.
@@italiansurprise I suppose these days all the running shoes from major brands have about the same stack height or higher, so visually it makes this shoe very typical and normal looking. 👀

I am stuck on either trying other brands, going for the superblast 2, or these. My superblast are just about to hit 600km and still feel good so I am in no rush.
Hmmm 🤔 I’ve just started using my third pair of the Glideride 3, so they won’t need replacing for a long time. But I use them as my daily trainers/ long run shoes and More v4 for recovery runs. Not sure I’d be replacing the Glideride 3s with this new Glideride.
You are in contact with Asics when reviewing these shoes, right? Could you please add the info if the shoe will come in size 14/15 when doing reviews. On paper the Glideride Max sounds amazing but so did the Superblast 2 and that one is only size 13
My question is, how much longer will Asics keep pushing Gel? At this point with the super foams, the Gel is basically irrelevant besides being a marketing tool. Additionally, Gel in the heel would be utterly worthless for anyone but an extreme heel striker (that is, if the Gel does anything at all.)
ForeverRun is such an underrated shoe, eats up miles and very dependable/comfortable. Nearly bought a second pair but decided to try something new instead.
I go straight from NB3/NB4 to SB1 and require nothing in between. But I like living in a world with more options rather than fewer. Will probably check out FFB Max when it inevitably hits the NB5.
I have the Superblast and I am about to receive the Novablast and will use the two to train during the fall and winter. I cant decide yet if I will go for the magic speed 4 or the metaspeed sky to round out my 3 shoe rotation next year. Im leaning towards the magic speed since I will both train and race in them. (10k-HM) does that sound logical? Edit: this might be the wrong video for that question but I wrote it during the lineup explanation.

That's interesting . I absolutely hated the upper on the original. I just could not lock it down, even after tightening the laces so much that they left marks on the top of my feet. I saw the knit ones, but thought they must have just been more of an alternate colour/material. I don't need them, but i'd actually like to see more shoes with alternate uppers, even drops, not just colours. I know it would start to get pretty niche, but with shoes being so expensive, I'd love the choice. I'll take the Kinvara Pro midsole with the Triumph 21 upper thanks.
