I just bought a pair of these which should arrive in 3-5 days and I am really looking forward to testing these. The problem with Puma is that it is really hard to find a store that sells them in Western North Carolina/Eastern Tennessee.
Late to the party Edd but thanks for this review. I picked up this shoe in a NZ Puma clearance for 60 earth credits. Had no great expectations from them and went out for a long run. 30km on mostly well groomed trails with 4kms of road. Great shoe for me. Comfy, roomy, super grippy as normal with Puma and the midsole is perfect for long, slowish undulating efforts. I’ll be running the Taupo 70km Ultra in these in October. I’ve got 150km in them so am using them sparingly in the training block. That may be being overly cautious though as my Velocity Nitro 2’s and Deviate Nitro 2’s seem indestructible.
Thanks for this review, Ed. I badly need a good max cush shoe with a breathable upper for my training. I recently purchased the nimbus 25 and used it first time for a running event yesterday. By mile 3, I had to remove my ultra light socks due to the trapped heat inside the shoe, I'm just glad I didn't had any blisters after that. I'm looking forward to this shoe when it comes out on july.
Thanks for the review. Just picked up a pair of these at a 50% off Puma sale. $NZ115 (55 earth credits) should be perfect for my local long run on well groomed trails.
This shoe looks great, and the Optimus Prime colorway is a bonus. I've been disappointed with the More v4 because it's a little too soft. The Deviate Nitro 2 has a nice bounce.
Great vid, though be cool if you could compare the Foreverun with this. I'm doing a 12 hour track loop (yep, nuts) in August and am considering one of these... I don't run in stability shoes though the Foreverun is a light implementation of a stability which is what's attracting me to it :)
My puma fastr is the best fitting shoe I own..reminds me like running barefoot in the fresh turned fields when I was a kid..the only other that's close is the NB elite V3..the Nike epic react knitfly was similar..something about knit upper with no tongue and laces makes them disappear on your feet..this morning I was really struck by how great a shoe can feel..I probably better stock up on both the fastr and the NB elite V3 before they change them and ruin them..
Hey there, I am a BIG fan of the musical interludes at the end of every episode. Is there any chance you’d consider doing some dirt of playlist that consolidates all of your picks? It would be great to fire that up during my long runs.
Yes I am , and for anything over 14 miles I have been using the trusty ghost 15 , however it does not need to replace rather sit along side the former. I have two rotations now a Puma one and a mixed one . The ghost 15 belongs to the mixed rotation group .The Brooks hyperian Max is shortly replacing the old mizuno rebellion (race day is the rebellion pro) now that has gone over 400 miles. I need a long run shoe for the Puma set. Been of two minds (and still am ) at looking at the forever run or the Magnify nitro 2 . I have time, the {uma's are primarily for Autumn /winter and its starting to get warm.
Huge Bob Dylan fan! Some trivia: Bob Dylan wrote " Forever Young" from Planet Waves a year later after Neil Young wrote " Heart of Gold," which is on Harvest. He wrote that song to mock Neil Young because he felt " Heart of Gold" sounded too much like something he would have written and that he was imitating Dylan. Linda Ronstadt and James Taylor sang the backing vocals on " Heart of Gold."
@yianpap6093 2009 article in Rolling Stone Magazine by Bob Dylan biographer Clinton Heylin. Bob Dylan said hearing the song " Heart of Gold" bothered him that someone had a style that sounded just like him. Clinton Heylin has done an analysis of most of Bob Dylan's songs, and that's his belief since Dylan and Neil Young have a history of writing songs responding to each other.
@@jefreywith1f924 I see. I remember Bob saying that the song sounded like him, but not that he was mocking Young. Can't see it myself. Either way, my estimation of Young fell when he threw the fit and withdrew his music from Spotify because it was giving a platform to Joe Rogan...how democratic of Neil! Only to go back 3 months later. Most embarrassing rock legend in history.
Hi eddbud 👋, just 200km in the triumph 20 and 115km in the glideride 3 , have the nimbus 25 ready to replace the triumph as it took all my heavier running and I'm starting to feel my foot shape in them , picked up a annoying achilles injury atm out of the blue 😑 so no running atm 😑 was hoping to wear out some shoes 4 new rotation
Ah Yeah!!!! Great to See your pedal board Edd. I've heard only good things about the Topanga. Great choice of ZVex too. And my Favourite Delay that "I used to own", The Alter Ego X4. Great shoe review aswell, if that counts for anything. 🤣🤣🤣🤣.
A guitar channel sounds like a good idea👍. I have to follow it😀. 15 years ago I collected guitars. A slightly more expensive interest than running shoes😱😁.
@@EDDBUD But you can be lucky like running shoes 😀. Trade my old Nintendo. For a Gibson RD Artist from 1978 ❤️. Got the best Guitar to play on but it's pretty cool😉
Thx Edd, as always. I'm currently looking for a lighter easy pace long run (> 10 mi) shoe to add to my rotation. The Magnify might do the trick (although the 10 mm heel drop will take getting used to). I currently use the NB More v4 for only up to 10 miles because it's really heavy. For long runs with marathon surges, or for fast uphill-finish long runs, I use the Speed 3.
For long runs Brooks Glycerin 20, it works well one of the best lasting shoes out there and the nitro foam in it is just the right firmness. My Glycerin 19s got more than 800 miles in them before the foam died, the shoe itself has no major wear and still plenty of rubber on them.
Agree 100% , glycerin 20 has been my daily since fall and the upper and outsole are still going strong . The great cushion is now starting to die but man what a great lasting shoe …
Got the foreverrun nitro recently to replace nimbus 25's and enjoying them much more, feel a bit more structured and the grip is so much better. Any advice on adding the magnify into the rotation? I didn't get on with how squishy the nimbus were and worried the magnify would be similar
Long run shoe is currently the Puma Velocity 2 or the Adidas Boston 9. Some good rest and a light sprinkling of race pace this week and you'll be more like a white yacht floating in the blue waters of a Caribbean bay ⛵👊
Please fo this comparison! I'm eyeing the Magnify but the Triumph seems to be universally loved and is coming down in price significantly since the next model is on the horizon
I have 200 plus miles and the Triumphs are still as new. I've even got another pair still in the box I like them that much. Best long run shoe I've worn in an age.
The specialty of the Triumph is all based on the insole. Remove the insole and go run in them. Completely different shoe. I actually took the insole out and put them in my cumulus 25 and found a significant increase in bounce as well as I find the cumulus way more stable. I'm certainly gonna give these pumas a go just based of looks and I'm a sucker for knit uppers.
hi Ed, you have tested the Puma Magnify nitro 2 and the forever nitro version. What shoe would you prefer if it comes to easy long runs and why? Is it suitable for 35+Km?
You should test cushioned shoes using the pedalboard. Something like "it's so cushioned i wouldn't wear it on a gig, cause i cant feel those true bypass switches click" 😂
How would you compare this to the Velocity? I picked up a pair of Velo's last month & love them! Thinking about picking up a pair of these as well. I'm 100kg+ had no issues going up to 8 miles on Velos, was wondering if these would be better for the longer distances for me. Just looking for an additional shoe to help me with more mileage
Thanks for the review! Looks like a fun longrun shoe for the offseason when I dont necessarily put many speedy miles into the runs. My current LR shoes are the Velocity Nitro 2 and Brooks Hyperion Tempo. How do you see the Magnify compare to the Velocity? Any major differences?
Thank u for the reply, really appreciate your clarification, would you consider puma forever run and magnify nitro 2 in the same category, if its which would you suggest ed
Hi @EDDBUD. I'm thinking of getting either the Magnify Nitro 2 or the Forever Run Nitro. I already have the Deviate Nitro 2 and loving it 😀. Which of these shoes is the one for recovery runs and the one for long runs or is there one of them that does it all? What do you think?
Nice shades you're wearing. What are those? And are they transition sunglasses too? Thx for review and entertainment. BTW, my wife said the same to me about my "flipping shoes" 🤣

Not many shoes are ok for that temp!
Good morning!🎉

how does it compare with the puma forever run? which one is softer and more cushioned? and which one do you think is better?
