Well.....I already found mine. when I was 13, i got my first dog I later named *Jack*. He was the best dog I had ever seen and we stayed together for 15 years. As the years pass by, Jack helped me with my emotional crisis being my Only friend.....I was given an interview for joining the battle against Isis, I wasn't a single bit exited knowing that I'll have to leave behind Jack for a couple of years. I accepted the offer.
The war zone was tough, I had to drink out of an abandoned house in the ruins just to survived, each day as i get ready to move out, i always bring with me a picture of me and jack when i was 14 thinking that I might *Die* any moment from either a grenade or gun shot wound but i soon knew that I wasn't the one dying that day. I'd became friends with a Vet that took care of jack when I was deployed into combat and he sent me a grave chilling message
"I have some bad news....Jack is dying" I was still at the camp when I got the message and i still had a chance to leave, I lied to my commander that my wife was pregnant at the time (I had no wife) i had to persuade him even went as far as pointing a gun at him begging for him to take me back home...I was kicked out of the military. the flight took days and as each second goes, a little part of me dies knowing that jack might be Dead but as i arrived God gave me one last chance to wish him goodbye.
i never cried so hard in my life holding him in my hands as each second pass, his old fragile hair starts to fall out as each tear drop sinks into his skin but that time, I already knew what would happen. years after his death, i started to lose my mind while i remembered getting into a heated argument with my friend (The Vet that took care of jack) i'v lost everything at that point.
here I am watching dog videos and making this comment just to envy myself.
I know you'll be waiting for me in heaven jack, and i will be coming with you soon

I loved adopting my 2 dogs. Neither one of them were old (they were both about 2/3 when we got them) and one of them came from a home where an older lady had her + 20 other dogs. It caused my dog to be really shy and kinda scared. It was so rewarding seeing her come out of her shell. Now she’s super happy and energetic.

I'd love to see something on training a puppy to use a dog door. My frenchie is afraid of small spaces and will NOT push ANYTHING no matter how hard I try to teach her, she just wont. I can crate her by simply moving the gate closed enough that she cant fit through the opening, she wont try and escape.

I've loved them since the moment I watched your original videos with frisbees and after meeting several, I fell madly in love with them. I couldn't get one until now because I know they're high energy and need a lot of stimulation, but I've taken up a career in dog walking so I know I'll have a lot more time on my hands to be able to give this dog the best life it can have and it'll be able to socialise well due to my job too :)

Your so true about the dogs personality. I've bred border collie and nova scotia duck tolling retrievers for over ten years now, and my puppybuyers never get to pick out the puppy themself. I analyze the dogs energy level and personality, and match the right puppy with the right owner. They don't even get to choose the gender of their new dog. (unless there's a special reason) Thats because many puppy buyers thinks for example that a bitch is a surten way, and while some bitches might be that way, it's not the norm. Many dogs doesn't fit that description at all 😊 they don't come with labels. Although that would have been awsome, but it doesn't work like that. The puppy that comes closest to the personality the puppybuyer wants. Might be of the opposite gender of what they imagined themselves, so they have to be open minded.
We often think that a dog is a surten way because of the breed, the gender, the breeding lines or even the size of the puppy in comparement to the others in the litter. But its not necessary thay way at all. Sometimes a bitch is calmer than dogs, sometimes they are more cuddly. Sometimes more interested in their owners. Sometimes the smallest girl in a litter is the most careful and gentle type. But, i repeat - sometimes. I've seen the smallest girl in a huge litter, be the toughest of them all. With the highest enery level, and that barely got tired.. Like.. ever 😂
I've seen the biggest dog puppy be the calmest most cuddly affectionate of them all.
I've owned a rehoming senter for dogs, taking care of dogs, trained them and got to know them (and did my personality analysis) before I united them with suitable owners that was right for the dogs personality and energy level, to be sure it was a match. Cause the number one reason why people didn't want their dogs anymore and gave them away for rehoming, was because it was the wrong dog for them. I took this experience with me, to my breeding, and it's been amazing. Right dog in right home comes before selecting the gender, the breed, the dogs looks and other superficial things. Its the dogs personality your gonna love for the rest of his or her life ❤️
    Good luck 😊

Hey Zak! I love watching your videos and I have used them a lot for training my new 4 month old male golden retriever puppy!
I had a question though about food aggression. I have tried feeding him from my hand, putting my hands in the bowl, and even getting him a maze bowl to slow his eating down but all of these methods have still led to him snarling at me every meal time.
I'm really running out of ideas and I would really appreciate some your help!

While he is eating... walk up and add something of greater value to the kibble, like turkey or cheese, walk away and repeat several times during the meal. That way he doesn't view you as a threat of taking his food away. As he gets more and more comfortable, add touch to the scenario. Walk up and touch then add the turkey/cheese. Take it slow.. you just need to build the trust.. it will happen.

I saw my dog at a no kill shelter that Id never heard of before, but had great reviews from folks that had adopted from them, we took a chance and went to meet a particular dog( I knew I wanted a large dog, either a mastiff or a dane) they had a dane mix but he had issues. We met Cash and it was love at 1st sight..he and I were playing and it was all good. (this shelter will not allow an adoption without a really good clear bond taking place within a hour or so...also they do a very intensive background check on adoptive "parents" and want references from several people as well as from your vet.) all in all a great shelter. Cash is the most amazing guy ever (Great Dane/ English Mastiff combo) he's only 11 months old but he's a fast learner and fits in well with our family. He's still a work in progress on meeting new people ..especially men (he was abused and we are fairly certain it was by an adult male) he loves women and children and other animals..also is very protective of the whole family without being "dangerous" with others..he just lets them know "I see you and dont know and until mom says its ok.......you arent coming any closer to us" lol...which is what I wanted. (we live in a decent sized city ... and I wanted a buddy but I also wanted a dog that would be able to not only sound a alarm but to protect if need be.......without being so aggressive that he would be a danger to have....I have a amazing dog and I would suggest to anyone out there looking for a great dog......puppies are great....but young dogs and adult dogs can be amazing as well ... give them a chance and usually you wont be disappointed if you have done your homework on the mix or full blood breed and ask questions about their quirks and behavior..they are just like us.....they dont like certain things, people ...smell...actions...if YOU do it ... it will be a positive experience for everyone and a homeless dog or puppy will have a chance at a great loving home.

VERY true that huskies are level 3 dogs.. that is why so many end up at shelters.. people do not realize this dog will do much damage to your home without a LOT of exercise and stimulation, even then they are challenging, but great dogs of course!

Great video. 'Scent games' and nosework' games are so underutilized as a form of enrichment for our dogs. Unlike physical exercise, it is, in fact, mental stimulation that our dogs need every single day.

My first priority is having a low shedding breed because of my allergies. I grew up with poodles and poodle crosses and didn’t have any issues, but I have to take pills when ever I got to visit friends dogs. Then I look at energy level and size. My bf and I are hopping to get a dog or puppy in the next year (if/when the right one comes up).

My senior german shepherd has issues with aggression to other dogs. Females specifically. She used to be military, which is why- as she grew up in a kennel with high levels of pent up excitement and aggression. But this caused her to be passed around a lot and now she has trouble bonding with people. I can be away for three weeks and she doesn't even lift her ear when i return. She just looks at me like "Oh, it's you."
My dad's dog however- she's a piece of work. Fiercly loyal and extremely energetic. She fears nothing and usually wants to be the first to enter a room. She's incredibly smart but if you don't establish your dominance she'll run you over. When she was a puppy she'd chase us and bite our feet. They both are so incredibly different but are overall extremely good dogs.

    • @lazypuppo

Carson MX Whatever you want for your puppy :). Sleeping in the kennel is a good habit to start though! It helps to shape good behavior and manners, it helps to keep your bed cleaner, it helps your pup a lot during potty training, gets your pup used to being in there in case you have guest that don't like dogs. I switch between my bed and the crate.

Thinking of getting a puppy, do you have a video on treating food aggression/ preventing it? I've had tons of dogs before in my life but thankfully I've never had a food aggressive pup.. not even adopted dogs. So I need to prepared to deal with it if my new dog has it 😅

    • @lazypuppo
      @lazypuppo 7 років тому +1

wendigo I heard hand feeding them as pups helps a lot to reduce food aggression. Also teaching "leave it" and "out/drop it" using positive reinforcement when they're young puppies greatly helps too. If they do develop it and you need to get the food item from them, hold up a treat of equal or higher value to your dog and trade it for the one they have. If my dogs are chewing on bully sticks, I'll bring them a spoon with peanut butter on it and ask them to drop their treat (drop it) and come towards me (here) and while they get their peanut butter treat, I can take the bully stick without any nasty confrontation. Taking food from your dog anyways is rather rude, so it's best to trade them for it :).

Yorkies are under the terrier group which are a more independent group of dogs(I own a Jack Russell Terrier and he's a handful) they tend to need a little extra attention when talking about socializing and mental training(tricks, sniff games and such) and of course excercise. Maltipoos can both be considered type 1 and 2, it all depends on your lifestyle, since the maltipoo is a dog that will try to adapt to it's owner(in most cases, all dogs are different)

Dogs normally choose you, it shows their love for you, if the dog doesn’t jump for you in the store, then a dog isn’t interested in you, the dog just doesn’t want to be your friend or they need time to warm up to you, if you get a puppy, then it’s your chance to build its personality, and tell them, what’s wrong and what’s right.
