As always i read all the filtered comments so please have your say and let us all know how your fishing and coastal life is going
Nice to see that you gently put the place back into the sea 👍
Another great video. Lovely looking plaice, hopefully it'll fill out of a size for the table before it's caught again.
But I am going to stand up for the humble whiting, it gets a right knocking from UK anglers. The number of recipes for Merlan show just how good it can be.
Yes 👍 the whiting does give a good rattle too a least. A recent pole on the channel gave dogfish and silver eels a worst rep than the tings so it’s not everyone’s least favourite here. Thanks for your comments George
Never give up! Well done buddy!
Ha ha yes thanks

I’m just following what you taught me , your voice was in my head when I wanted to go home sulking , I know it’s only a small plaice but still another top tip acted on 👍
@@SaltwaterAngler 😁💕
Nice one Matt. The effort paid off. The plaice are thin as rice paper until end of April. Hopefully some will remain in May, after the trawlers have hoovered.
They are thin , it’s not always the car though so not sure if some just don’t spawn or just put on weight really quickly ? And as for those trawlers 😡😡
That looked like hard going Matt. Well done of keeping at it in the cold - deserved the plaice. Many more to come I am sure.
Thanks Brian - it’s that time of the year isn’t it ! Dab and plaice coming soon we hope
“Yeah, got one”…. Good job mate - I would be happy with that too and some free gear too, bonus!
Thanks Gavin 👍
Well done for your perseverance Matt. Soon as you pick up that fish you almost forget the first couple of hours drowning worms 🪱
Ha yes that’s very true !
Was always told never fish a beach until night time, great to see one being caught during the day . Fair play for sticking it out and saving the blank
There’s truth in that but those sight feeders love the bright conditions
Great video and session, paid off in the end.... you have a new subscriber, well done
Hi Stephen thank you for subscribing. Hopefully some more fish await us
Loved that vid Matt(Mr saltwater) I've always fancied Brighton I love Hastings 👌👍👍be safe mate+Happy new year 👍
Thanks Mick , the only thing with Brighton is all the people on the beach 😂! Should have some better fishing to report soon
Oh thanks Matt I look forward to it mate be safe 🙏👍
Well done for sticking it out in the cold and glad you got rewarded. Loving the drone footage!
Thanks mate, it’s quite useful the drone I want to use it to spot bass shoals in the summer
You can’t beat a blank saver, good work 👍. Love the hat too 😂😂🐟🎣
Thanks Kevin , I have a collection of rubbish hats !
A plaice and free fishing gear!! Nice video👍🏻👍🏻 really must get back down to Hastings at some point 👍🏻👍🏻
👍 cheers Lee - yes Hastings can be good on it’s day just not so much at the moment
@@SaltwaterAngler I used to fish it when I first started sea fishing, broken pier in old town and obviously on the pier before the fire.... Had a 20 year break due to family and work and now decided it's time to get drowning some worms again! Hahaha
Heck yeah never give up
It’s so true
Well done matt put time and effort in 💪👍
Thanks Robert , always a hard time of year for us all
well done matt, got the target species, small but perfectly formed. the boy dune well, on a very cold day. good video as usual , take care and regards patrick chapman.
Thank you Patrick - better days ahead as we head in to spring 👍
Good video cobber i used 2 catch plaice useing hermit crabs fishing the old Hastings pier in my teens would collect them in good numbers under the pier after digging lug ,try useing small glow sticks instead of beads my granddaughter came up with the idea (IT WORKS) keep up the good videos. Happy catching from AUSTRALIA Nick
Hi mic yes good tips there. I do often use glow socks and when the plaice arrive in numbers I will test which is best
@@SaltwaterAngler find green works best .Happy catching from AUSTRALIA Nick
Nice to see you out there Matt, always enjoy your easy going videos. Well done on your target fish, hope it’s the first of many. Cheers
Thank Stephen as always for your comments. Let’s hope for a few More plaice in spring - the video was getting a lot less easy going before I caught 🤪
Nice.
👍
Awesome Great video, Thanks
Glad you enjoyed it
Well done sticking it out in the cold.
I bought a Diawa Kanzaki on your recomendation and I love it, a real cracking rod, CHEERS
Ah glad you got one, they were out of stock for a while. It gives me a lot of confidence - very consistent action
God video.
High praise indeed , thanks 🙏
Great video, nothing worse than freezing your bits off all day and catching nothing at least you got one that makes the day worth it and that's what keeps us lot going out there in the bloody freezing weather lol
Yep very true there’s always hope .
@@SaltwaterAngler It's just amazing how one fish, any fish can turn a day from a fail into a great day fishing. Fisherpeople are truly a different breed!
That’s so true. When I was editing the video I could see how-annoyed I was getting then after I caught I was mr happy all relaxed and keen again. A lesson learnt😂
Another enjoyable video Matt! Haven’t fished the south coast for sometime as I live in South America. However I hope to give it go end of the year when I visit my family in my hometown Hastings 👍🏻
Nice one ! It can be a great place to fish
Plaice and a lead. 👍
Need to get some gloves Matt. 🥶🎣
Gloves are for wimps..... Yea ill use some ! I actually tend not to use them as i need my fingers for the cameras but will go fingerless- Thanks as always Ian
Nice one Matt, just had to happen when you think its all over they bite. Thanks for the video mate. 👍👍👍🎣🎣🎣
Cheers Glen, yes down to my last lugworm too !
Quick ❤ Matt were you waiting for it LOL.
Great video thanks Matt! Target achieved! Bit grumpy, as stuff going on, and can't keep up with UA-cam as I normally do. As previously mentioned, I don't do Multipliers, but have you had any dealings with the Penn Fathom CS specials? Lots of folk raving about them on the forums. Stay safe & well - Dave. 🎣🎣👍👍
I don’t know the fathoms but happy with the 525 here. It’s a good intro in to multiplier world and much easier than my older multipliers even the 7ht.
Well done Matt, always nice to get the target species
Thanks Ronny it might of been small but was worth it 👍
Cant fault you on the half Pendulum, a good all round cast to get you to the fish. don't get to disheartened the fishing is not good anywhere.
Thanks Mike , yep I’ll take that as a good session this time of year. Better days ahead
Wind from the east, the fish bite least!
Mostly true !
buena jornada compañero a seguir dando cañazo un saludo eso essss
muchas gracias. aprecio que hayas hecho un comentario
Been blanking a lot lately, not giving up though, can’t wait for summer!
Good good ! Toughest time of the year won’t be long and skate, smoothound and the bass
Nah if you wanted to catch fish in Brighton you have to go to Brighton marina I was there on Sunday on the East wall caught 3 plaice but once the fish were really biting the wall was closing around 4 o'clock there was pair of fisherman who I kid you not caught 30 plus plaice on 4 rod on 2-3 hook flappers using fresh yellow tails that they dug themselves the proof is on My uncles Facebook group which I will send what it's called
Thanks mate, yes as I said in the video I saw the pics come in to Facebook. It seems we don’t get them in such numbers further east. In addition that marina can really produce can’t it.
You will have to use some fingerless gloves, at least your hands will be warmer that's what i used to use.
Stay Safe,
Barry (Wirral)
Thanks mate , I should of asked for some for Christmas 😂
Hi Matt. A lot of anglers now choose to put the rest at right angles to the beach as opposed to straight out.
Any reason for that?
Cheers
That’s very observant . Often youtubers may hide a mark so having rods at a right angle would show what’s up or down the coast more when filming ?
Shorter rods I prefer at right angles my self
A lot of match anglers seem to do it. If you're sat at the foot of the rods it's easier to see a knock to the side then away from you. You'll probably find that if you have your rods pointing directly at the sea you'll choose to position yourself to one side of the rods for a clearer view of the tips - but that puts you further from the reel and you'll react slower.
@Non-Stick Pan its easier to see bites,if i was coarse fishing i would do the same
Always fun to watch Matt. Did the Plaice take the gutted worm? I like the camera viewpoint from the tip of the rod! It makes you look like the bait 😆 tight lines.
Cheer Paul the plaice was on ungutted lug once they arrive in better numbers I’ll try and figure out what type they prefer
@@SaltwaterAngler look forward to catching one myself. Interesting thing about sea fishing is that the catch is always different. Last weekend caught a nice Thornback Ray.
Where did you get your blow lug?
This time from Hastings angling centre but pevenseys, anglers den and Tony’s tackle also recommended
@@SaltwaterAngler nice one thanks for answering, keep up the good work with the videos, they’re enjoyable to watch and it’s interesting to see other people’s ideas and tackle choices
