Some furniture flips are more rescues instead of big money makers. That’s what happened with this dresser. I have a soft spot for campaign furniture and I found this one for $30. I probably overpaid for it considering its condition once I got it home. All the drawers were shot and the base had damage. I ended up cutting off the base and rebuilding a new one. I had to replace one drawer guide and make multiple adjustments on the drawers to get them to function smoothly. I was initially trying to strip it to raw, but that proved to be futile so I painted it out in black. Black and gold is a stunning combo and I think it really works.

And it really took a heart warming turn when you gifted this stunner piece to your good friend. ❤️ Sometimes, it isn’t about money but instead, doing what was right for the chest. Awe, I love that you were able to gift this work of love to someone you love. So, you have officially got me properly loving these pieces- I just picked up my first set of campaign nightstands- all you girl! I’m so excited 👏 I typically stick to the classic vintage mcm pieces. But the lines on these are so clean and that brassware against a beautiful navy or black- I’m so here for it!! It was also good to hear you talk about the profit margins and time delegations. I’ll admit I’m still spending too much time with every piece, I’ve got to make some adjustments. So that was helpful to hear. You’re flippin awesome ;)

    Wow!
I love campaign style furniture, too (and I, too, have a husband who says, "Tell me again why you need this...") The red and blue paint remind me of the tempera paints we used in second grade. I love what you did with this chest; the black is so dramatic, and the base and gilded feet are perfect.

Give you five! I really do appreciate that you tried, and managed to, save this piece that gave you so much trouble. I was hoping that you could bring it back to wood, but when I saw you struggling, I was glad you came up with a new idea. The result was amazing. And the feet!😊 I want to ask you something. Why didn’t you try to use your scraper from the start, before all the chemical stuff? If it is charp it often works very well on painted flat surfaces. And it saves both money and time. And, I don’t think you’re a bad person, trying to be cost-efficient, I’ve seen so much worse in this business! So overall, I really liked you, and what you do.❤

What a very lucky dresser! Definitely was just horrendous paint job…and desperately needed a rescue. To top it all off it was a great learning piece with the trouble shooting and all the drawer issues. The base really changed it completely. It seems it was destined to go to a special place…and it did! Job well done!
I ended up with a very sad chest of drawers that had been in an a once beautiful barn that leaked. ( barn was dismantled for its rescue). My other half was taking the the contents of the barn and old house to the dump in his dump truck. But he brought that chest of drawers home. Looked it up and found one that was used selling on a high end site for over 3000! I got it stripped (its paint saved it) but the bottom sat in wet hay and had wood worms. I now, after a year, have it upside down and am now contemplating what I am going to do! So this video has helped in getting me to started. I don’t do furniture to sell but most of what we have I have is not new! And we had to rebuild part of our house and aren’t quite finished! The old part was a 2 room 1886 schoolhouse and I think they must have served a lot of alcohol when they put it up!

I loved that you stopped the show to explain that from an economic standpoint, putting endless hours into a piece that has not makers mark or signs of being a top tier brand of furniture. I like the ‘ look’ of it. The gold trims dressed it up nicely. I was a bit concerned when I saw the red. Omgosh.

That was one of the saddest pieces of furniture I've seen. I love campaign furniture but no way to get back to wood so paint definitely the way to go. The finished piece has an Asian feel to it, at least to me. Great save!
