Just bought a new 2019 Escalade & got a great end of the year deal. Having had 2 of the previous model Escalades I knew I wanted another one. They continue to set the standard for luxury SUV's. I got a black one this time and it's currently having a ceramic coat put on to make it easier to clean and maintain. It looks absolutely gorgeous! Looking forward to it being my daily driver!

I'm torn between an Escalade & Range Rover SPORT. I know, different classes but I love both! Drove a Supercharged V8 550 HP Rover SPORT & it was AWESOME. Drove a 2018 Escalade (not sure the trim) and it was AWESOME. I guess it's going to come down to which one is more reliable, less headache.
I’d rather have lighter adapters than USB ports. You have more options with the lighter adapter, especially if you want more than one thing plugged in at the same time

i was thinking of purchasing a cadillac, but no longer, i CAN NOT support a company we aided then gave us the middle finger, they do not care about the customers just the share holders, so now i am going to purchase the Lincoln Navigator Platinum L edition
I would buy a Lincoln Navigator over this in a heartbeat. This is a rebadged GMC. The newest Lincoln Navigator and Aviator SUVs are not just rebadged Fords. There is no comparison between the GLS and the Escalade. Would purchase a GLS vs. an Escalade any day.
I checked this out at the LA auto show and I thought it was nice until I checked out the navigator. They are in different leagues. I couldn’t even believe how comfortable the Navigator was. Do yourselves a favor; if you’re in the market for a large luxury suv check them both out. You’ll see what I mean.
It’s not I’m a service advisor at a cadillac dealer and the amount of things I’ve warranty repaired for customers is insane. 20k miles down the line and you will see
I love your review because it’s really objective . I have the 2018 Luxury and it does have USB ports right under the digital controls for the second row seats. It also has a regular prong type socket to connect a conventional plug on the lower left close to the floor. Plus on the right rear in the trunk also 2 USB ports that people in the 3rd row can reach. It’s surprising that the 2019 doesn’t have them. Is it possible you just missed seeing them? They are not easy to see in the dark interior. From your description I don’t see anything that the 2019 has that the 2018 doesn’t have. Unless you get the Platinum that has the extra bells and whistles. I agree with you on selecting the Escalade I considered the Mercedez 450 but everything was a lacarte. So if you wanted USB ports you had to add it, if you wanted a v8 engine you had to go up to the 550. In the end I thought I got a better deal, more comfort and definitely more bang for my buck. I went from 2 previous Yukon Denali trucks to this and I don’t regret it for a second.
I noticed the ones that maintained their vehicles beyond minimum have a much better experience than those that simply keep up with the oil changes. And given the size of the engine I’d use at least mid grade fuel with the fuel injectors cleaners and octane boosters. My vehicles have been lasting longer than the ones I didn’t look after the fuel system regularly (monthly) at least
since the USB ports are up front; with cig lighters in the back; you have to buy those cig lighter with USB; so that you can charge phone and tablets; lets hope the car dealer provide that type of accessory.... anyway good review; it's my dream car, plan on purchasing toward the end of year, for 2021.....
Have you had any major issues on your 2018 so far? I’m considering a ‘19 ESV Luxury. Seems like the 10 speed transmissions were less prone to premature failure.
For those with families or thinking of loading this vehicle with people, you should know that the third row seats are useless for anyone but a toddler. An adult...even a small person has a hard time fitting in the back seats (no foot room whatsoever) with the second row seats in the normal down and locked position. This is because of the live axel that needs room to travel. The ford offerings (expedition / navigator) use independent suspension with the RWD differential attached to a fixed location. That single change gave designers a lot more latitude in carving out room for the 3rd row seats. Try sitting in the back seats of both vehicles. You will see an incredible difference. For the GM's, I just fold the third row seats down with the highest and best use of that area being for cargo rather than seating.
i had to replace my engine at the cost of $8000.00 3 years ago on my 2011 escalade with 117k miles due to a lifter collapse issue that caused a bearing to come out of the block, very disappointed, i just bought a 2018 escalade with 42k miles it runs great but im concerned

I have a 2016 Escalade ESV that I purchased brand new off the lot and its the biggest piece of junk I've ever bought. Terrible ride quality, countless transmission problems, and the transfer case eats itself alive when in four-wheel automatic, forcing me to always drive in 2-wheel-drive.

GM has not done enough to make the Escalade fully luxurious. As a former Range Rover owner, the Escalade’s ride quality doesn’t come close. You can feel the shutters that come through the cabin when you hit big bumps, but they have tried to mask it. It needs to get away from the truck ride quality and get better interior finishes. I wish it had a VSport engine or something and an independent rear suspension.550 horsepower at least. Also, 4WD should be standard on all of their SUVs since it is not full time 4WD. The technology package is decent though and I love the sound of my V8 engine after putting on a Corsa exhaust and cold air intake. What a beautiful sounding engine!
