I appreciate these videos that show EXACTLY what to set your sewing machine to… cos I’m a straight idiot who totally forgot how to do anything if I haven’t done it in awhile. Which for me, it’s been over 10yrs.
#### That's GOLDEN for beginners! 😲👏 *Could you make a video or short to explain what "length", "width" and "tension" refer to?* Like varying each one of them in turns and show the audience what the changes of result one gets? 😋 THANKS! 💐🤗
After a while the scroll part stops curling the fabric. You stop and adjust and that section looks like crap when you inspect it later. Works for short runs but if you have a really long hem - well good luck I certainly haven’t been able to get it to work consistently.
Same here xd. Have been sewing for over 10 years now and still cant get it to work. I prefer serging the edges first and use that as a guide for the rold hem and do it all by hand. I have way more control over it that way, especially with a curved hem with a circle skirt for example.
Been sewing professionally for over 30 years. That foot does NOT work. In a factory, they use a huge, far more complicated foot to achieve consistent results. Also it's almost impossible to sew from the very beginning of the hem. Far easier to do the 2 stage method of a rolled hem.
I’ve watched so many videos of people showing this but your video is the only one that actually really makes sense to me! The way you filmed this was perfect! Your camera angles, lighting, no (hand) shadows, explanation and wording are all perfect! Thank you! I truly appreciate this video!
I’ve an Industrial machine as I’m a Dressmaker & you just cut the corner & it’s easy to feed into the foot when I was a junior working in a factory that was my job hemming 😂
I was just looking at this foot today, but I didn’t have time to play with it and refresh how to set the machine and do it exactly. Thanks!! Finishing my project with this foot now!!
Just saw a guy hemming chiffon. He marked a line to follow about an inch from edge. Then, using a very narrow and fairly short zigzag setting, he zigzagged along the line over a strand of topstitching thread. He held the topstitching thread up at about a 45 degree angle. Then he pressed the 1" of fabric to the inside along the line. Then he zigzagged over this crease, pressed again, and trimmed away the excess fabric very close to the stitching. A tiny, tiny hem! Hope this helps you!
I always had an issue starting with that foot. I’ll give this a try. Also what if the fabric slips out of the foot in the middle of the work AND how about turning corners with this foot??? ❤
I have a brand new Brother. It worked for a bit. I made two quilts, a pillowcase and fixed a baby blanket for my grand niece. The tension stopped working properly. The thread is loose and happy looking. I never touched the tension knob! I have tried everything. The tension still won't work right. Ideas?????
I'm having same trouble with singer machine... only one tension works..that too on cotton fabrics...tried all combinations but won't stich nylon, thick cotton or silk ..wasted lot of cloth....🙆♀️ Please help .. I'm at my wits end..losing interest in sewing.
I just got a singer 4423 machine and i can NOT go as slow as you did in the video. The slightest push to the foot pedal and it goes crazy fast. This is my first machine and i dont know if its normal…
Feed dogs is a term used to describe the feed teeth that move the fabric when stitching. Sometimes the feed teeth are fixed on sewing machines and you can't lower them, or there aren't any cover options available for the machine (as is the case with the White sewing machines from the '90s).
Nice to see someone actually demonstrate how this is done instead of just telling you to use the foot and act like it’s magic
right i never knew how to do this
Yes and slow enough that you can follow
EXACTLY!!
The hem foot on my 1929 Singer works great! Saves a lot of time too.

Hey you're not alone with that.
I’m here too because of that. I thought I was losing my mind 😂
Yeah Me too 😅😅. These help so much!!
❤❤❤❤ love for mentioning the stitch, the width and tension for the sewing ❤❤❤ no one ever mention it !

Yes, please!
YES, PLEASE!!!
Hem foot? Who knew! Thank you for introducing and demonstrating. ❤
Such a good demo, your explaining was through and very good
This is one of the hardest things I’ve ever sewn. Still haven’t mastered this foot without my hem coming undone
Pls show how to turn a corner with the rolled edge foot.
You explain things better than any sewing machine CD
It’s nice to hear a voice rather than annoying music!

I had the exact same experience... extremely frustrating
My biggest problem was corners, which I still have trouble with on some fabrics. So I do them by hand. Otherwise I love thing.

@@fionaneale3784now I'm off to go hunt to find out what that looks like on a commercial machine because I'm curious!
This would be great for blouses, scarves and doll clothes.
Finally I see how this should be done !! Thank you

oh THAT'S how people make these so neat! I tried doing this for a cloak I made recently and it was a NIGHTMARE
Ugh, thank you, this is so easy to understand
If you stitch onto the edge of your fabric, you can use the thread tails to pull the edge through the foot, without trying to pre-roll it!
Excellent! Keep the tutorials coming x

Thank you for this video. Very helpful
Thank you, your video is easy to understand and very helpful. I always get scared to try new foots so thanks.
Oh this is a MUCH easier and neater way to get it started than the way I learned before, got to try this!
Thank youuuu!
I had no idea this existed. Thanks for making this video ❤
Such a great tip!! Thank you...
Thank you 🙏🏽 so love this
Wow, great info, thank you!
Beautiful! Thank you!
Thank you very very much for this information ❤
I always snip a 45° corner off the start of the material and feed it through the foot.
Thanks alot you cann't imagine how it help me and so useful for me❤
Excellent! Thank you!
Thank you so much!
😲 I had no idea... fantastic
Ahh I can’t save to my playlist!! 😭😭😭. Thanks for the video!!
Me neither sadly
Whyy
Thanks! Wouldn't ever have thought to put the pin like that.
Love your videos!! What caught my attention, initially, is that you are using a machine identical to mine. 😅❤
I just started sewing like three days ago and WHAT 😮❤
Does this work with perfectly sewing binding tape as well
Thank you🎉🎉I think I have that foot and will try🎉🎉🎉🎉
Finally I found someone who actually demonstrate how to use this foot from the start 😭
I’m glad it helped!!
And this also works for hems slightly further in on the fabric? Or only in the 2-3mm range? Are there foots for wider hems?
Omg can you please do a video on how to use the foot on chiffon and do a 1/8 baby hem? It's driving me crazy at the moment 😅

That’s so cool!!
Suhweet! Thank you for the tutorial. I've just got a new machine, and I want to learn how all of the feet work.
Which machine u r using?
Very nice! 🤗💙
Awesome, thanks!
Does this give you a certain size hem or can you adjust it to make it really small or really large?
Beautiful
Is possible to go around corners?
I would love to learn how to sew a summer dress. Its to intimidating though.
I always had an issue starting with that foot. I’ll give this a try. Also what if the fabric slips out of the foot in the middle of the work AND how about turning corners with this foot??? ❤
Thanks 🎉😊
Hi! What’s the name of your machine please?
Very professional. I will give this a try. 👍
jessica i have the same machine you do, how did you get the metal instead of the plastic holder for the foot
Nice!😊
so good
Such a good tip, I've tried the stitch and pull the thread through and that never works
❤❤❤❤❤do brother presser footd fit singer machines?❤❤❤❤❤
I didn’t know you could use it farther from the edge like that!
Is this foot only for Singer machines or can I get one for my Kenmore??
What’s the needle size?
I usually use universal size 80 or 90!
Ty.

What sewing machine did you demonstrate on?
I just got a singer 4423 machine and i can NOT go as slow as you did in the video. The slightest push to the foot pedal and it goes crazy fast. This is my first machine and i dont know if its normal…
Could you use this with lace, and feed dogs that can’t be lowered?
What's feed dog?
Feed dogs is a term used to describe the feed teeth that move the fabric when stitching. Sometimes the feed teeth are fixed on sewing machines and you can't lower them, or there aren't any cover options available for the machine (as is the case with the White sewing machines from the '90s).
Everyone makes this look so easy and no matter how many tutorials ive watched i still can't get it 😅
Good video..
Thanks for this I’ll definitely try it! I had tried on my own and couldn’t get it to work🧐
I have been sewing way to long to not have known about this foot. At least I got really good at hemming with a normal foot though.
Is this the same with a circle 🫠
NICEEEEEEEEEEEEEE❤❤❤❤
Use zigzag stitch. It will look prettier
If it's straight, yes, but if it's a circular hem, Omg, is a pain sometimes. That's why I prefer another metod for that.
Where do you get a foot like that?
Amazon
Where it gets very tricky is on round curves or pointy edges 😕
Ive tried using the foot many times it never works for me
I have such a hard time using a rolled hem foot. I keep trying though.
I have trouble with using that foot across a seam. The rest of the hem looks nice, but going over a seam looks terrible!
Was recommended this video again 😂 I never did figure out how to get it to behave at a seam. I just hand roll the hem these days
I never use that presser foot but looks complicated
Or use a magnetic guide
What's that ?
Wowww
❤❤❤
Still doesn‘t work for me, after a while it unrolls each time, i bought a set of six… now i use an iron and the foot with the leading edge
❤
Fuck yes
😍
So the cloth must be folded twice? If you dont have that type of presser foot?
Neat
Wish i could use it but the foot costs $70
Is this singer 2323?
Singer 4432!
I swear i am not master in sewing but i think im not that bad but never ever i could use this foot it is just a mess
Meh. You sew a hem when the garment is finished - so how do you get to the end when it's in a circle?
Hey sister ... is your figure fine now ??? It feels like injury is intense .
