@@sugoish9461 Waxed lightly weathered cut copper stairs is considered the item with the longest name in the game. At least, it used to be. I'm not super up to date on item names. Edit: It's name was changed in game, so now lingering potion of the turtle master is considered the longest.

I think this new gamerule should default to false when updating an old world to 1.21, but should also default to true when creating a brand new world
or it should default to true no matter what, it's not the first time mojang makes an update that breaks old stuff anyway, so I guess it would be fine
Defaulting to true always would be for the best. As long as that gamerule is there, you can just.. Disable it. If you don't want your old contraptions to be broken that is.

The parity though, that's such a Mojang thing to do though. Instead of fixing the source of a problem, they just go after the product of it and hope it lasts a while.
Honestly, I can't tell which one is the case because they are both classic Mojang moments.
False by default does make more sense (at least for now) given that it wasn't fixed for so long and people got used to expecting that behavior

I think the reason why Mojang didn't set the gamerule to true by default is because it instantly teleports you, getting rid of the vanilla portal delay, and it ONLY does that when riding an entity, which I think they don't like because it is inconsistent. Mojang could either get rid of the portal delay entirely, or apply the delay regardless if you are riding an entity or not, however the latter will make minecarts not able to "connect" or keep their speed between dimensions, unless they make an exception for them.

At the risk of sounding like a 🤓, you can't get struck by thunder. Thunder is the sound that occurs after a lightning strike. That's like saying you got hit by a car's motor juddering and not the car itself (though, scientifically, this isn't the best example, as the car could move regardless of what sounds the engine makes whereas thunder ALWAYS succeeds lightning).

*1-tick delay. Right now it _is_ a zero-tick delay, making it almost useless.

They used to be 1 tick, so 0.5 redstone ticks, which was useful, but now they're the same speed as droppers
It kinda makes sense it is as slow as the other redstone... but it doesn't need to be
I just wish one day they'll add block specifically with this functionality
I still think the idea I saw the other day in one of your comments of waxing the piston to make it silent (or make it fishy) would be the better option

I think it's important to note that the portal nausea effect gets completely skipped if the gamerule is set to "true," so I think it's likely they set it to "false" by default in order to make that remain mandatory

This is great news! I have a bunch of songs I'd love to have in minecraft, but it's difficult to choose when you're limited to the amount of discs in the game... Now I "just" need to figure out how datapacks work and hope I can make my own.
Still sucks that they changed the copper lights. Would've been nice to have a very simple single gametick delayer. It'd make it much easier to build fast and compact redstone contraptions.
Hopefully they change the attenuation distance of some of the other redstone components for consistency with pistons

I like that pistons are a quieter version of the same sound. Also the limit being 8 blocks is good for hiding things behind walls. Maybe 4-6 blocks would allow silent mechanisms to be quieter but also small

The technical players who'd want the game rule false to maintain builds, are the ones who could more easily change the gamerule. I think it should be defaulted on, I can't think of a easy build that would need it off.
They should’ve just made the new sound louder to assert dominance.

Being forced to use your imagination with block hacks is more creative than just having pre-made hand railings. The entire point of minecraft is being given few blocks with endless ways to use them, not vice versa.

I kind of liked the new piston sound. Sounded more like small lego machinery which was pretty much what I built
I feel like the sticky piston should have the new fishton sound and the regular piston should keep the old sound since it fits thematically and most loud redstone builds use more sticky pistons than regular pistons anyway, so it'll fix the sound issue
