  • 💥RACE RECORD💥
    Team Liz 🇦🇺🇵🇬
Friday 26th January 2024 at 10:14 local time, Liz Wardley crossed the finish line in English Harbour, Antigua after 44 days 4 hours and 47 minutes.
Backed by the deep, sounding horns from the super yachts, excited crowds filled Nelson’s Dockyard as rumours circulated that something big was about to happen. The cheering and applauding continued as Liz proudly raised the NEW RACE RECORD banner. 🏆
From beginning right through to the end, Liz’s campaign has been a detail-orientated, smooth-running machine. Her years of experience as a sailor, with more than 500,000nm (now 502,681nm!!) under her belt came to her advantage. Skills and performance brought to a new dimension in the race and it paid off, taking more than 15 days off the previous race record set last year by Miriam Payne (59 days, 16hrs & 36 min).
While stepping on land, Liz’ legs gave way as a result of 18 hours rowing through what has been some of the toughest conditions we have seen this year. After a minute she got up and family were ready with hugs. The crowd once again went wild as Liz stepped onto the podium where the new Race Record for the fastest time by a solo woman was announced. To add to the excitement, she arrived just in time to celebrate on Australia Day. 🇦🇺
