- In this rare performance from 2004, David Bedford had invited John Lennon's Original Quarrymen to play live at Dovedale School, where John Lennon had attended.
As well as a young Dave Bedford, it is a rare film including Eric Griffiths, who sadly died the following year. He appears with original Quarrymen Rod Davis, Len Garry, and Colin Hanton.
The Quarrymen had only begun to play live again in 1997, on the 40th anniversary of the historic meeting of 6th July 1957. They are still playing to this day.

ooooh.... woooooow!!!!!!!!
Glad you enjoyed it
A fantastic performance by the lads all in good voice loved it ! A great upload Dave one to cherish ! 👍👍🎸😎🎸BB Big 👍3
They were brilliant! Such a great night. Been friends with them ever since. 🎸🎵🎶
Len Garry always reminded me of Micky Dolenz, I think because of his charm! What a great voice, from what I’ve read he’s always had it but John would never let him use it in the old days.
Len always had a great voice. The problem was that, like at St Peter's, there would only be 1 microphone, so John had it!
I was thinking this was a cover band. But these are the actual Quarrymen? i'm absolutely amazed. Living rock and roll history. Good luck to all these lads.
These are the genuine guys! Real history. There are a couple of other more recent Quarrymen performances from the current line up too.
This is completely unbelievable. You've GOT the original Quarrymen (minus one of course). And final with Eric Griffiths. Colin does have the backbeat down. HISTORY ^^^^^ Thank YOU for hosting and posting.
A pleasure and glad you enjoyed it. More to follow from the concert too.
Thanks for sharing this of my dad Eric. Presume this was the last or one of the last times he played with the Quarrymen.
I remember how much he enjoyed it
I'm glad you could enjoy it. It was the only time I met him, and what a lovely man he was. There weren't too many gigs after this one before we lost him so suddenly.
I now have the honour of playing with the Quarrymen, mainly with Colin and Rod, occasionally with Len, and now John Duff Lowe's son Henry has joined us, too. We always mention your dad.
David
Hi David, thanks for the kind words re my dad. Glad to hear he's still talked about with good memories. All the best with the music. Cheers
@thebillygoatgruff My pleasure and honour. Rod and Colin often talk about their adventures together! Happy to play my part! And the skiffle music is still so much fun too.
David...Where did you get this? So Cool!
I filmed it myself back in 2004. More to come from the concert too!
