For those who didn't see the full mini-series, or simply don't remember, the Visitors installed new and extremely strong security doors outside the room in the medical where John (The Supreme Commander) would be speaking. That way, if there were any attack on the hospital, that room could immediately be locked down and would be extremely secure! Unfortunately, the rebels hacked into the controls and were then able to close the doors as needed. The rebels were able to gain access to the room using bogus passes, and then once their attack began, they used those same security doors that were supposed to be make the room extra secure, to lock all of the additional troops and guards out of the room! Such irony! Security forces locked out by their own new security doors! Anyway, once the resistance fighters took out the handful of guards who were actually posted in the main ballroom, they were able to unmask John on TV without much interference.

I remember seein' this when first aired in the UK. I was about 8 and this scared the shit outta me!!!!! V is awesome and I'm still watching it today!

I saw the original series' before the remake, and this still seems better.
Probably because it doesn't use CGI for every shot.
