I have a feeling that Anthony has daydreamed about his heroic defense-against-home-invasion scenario roughly 75,000 times, but in principle, I can't honestly fault him. If you're interested in home defense, a gun make sense. And if you're going to have a gun at the ready to defend yourself in a home invasion, then having a detailed plan makes sense too. Odds are, in a real home invasion, nothing is going to play out like you think it will, but I still prefer people put some real thought into stuff like this.

It’s because Patrice knows that most likely the invader will be black, and thus they side more with their race than the idea of a law abiding citizen. In Patrice’s mind, and a lot of other people’s minds unfortunately, they have the belief that in order to prove that they’re not racist, Whites MUST ALLOW black people to harm them and rob them. If most home invaders were White Patrice wouldn’t care, but because they’re more likely to be black, Patrice sides more with them and the fact that Anthony is prepared (in Patrice’s mind) is ONLY because he’s racist, and not because he wants to protect himself. I know very liberal Whites with the same mentality, where “How dare you defend your home against a poor oppressed member of society, let that black burglar take your things to atone for your ancestor’s actions!”

A lot of people think that being harmless means you’re a good person, and being prepared for violence means you secretly want to harm innocent people. It also makes them uncomfortable on a subconscious level because it reminds them that they could be a victim someday and they aren’t prepared.
