Anyways long way of saying that's why we have the Electoral College. Prevent the centralization of power and a couple cities from deciding every single election. Also, it's why we have the two-party political system. It's set up in a way that the political parties have to be big tents and open-minded and inclusive whereas in Europe you could have 20 political parties and they can afford to be uncompromising and hold radical / extreme positions if they want to. It's an impossibility in the two-party political structure we have. Every time it's happened the other party has won in a landslide
