1 is the most sensitive and accurate setting. 2 is less sensitive and let's the boat wander a bit more either side of the course setting. 3 disengages the internal compass and uses the optional wind vane attachment to make the boat self steering relative to the wind. This is an autopilot for a sailboat but it works well on my trawler. The number three setting is useless in this application.
Silky Jones It's an oldie but a goodie. You are exactly right about the speed of 7 knots. Not fast by today's standards but I don't need to take out a mortgage for fuel.
Hello, is your steering a hydraulic one? If so what is the displacement of your boat, please?
Erman Yerman
Yes the steering is hydraulic and the boat weighs about 6,000 pounds. That is what I estimate it to weigh as I have never weighed it.
Autohelm 3000 for $20. I'd call that a bargain and a smart purchase. Nicely done. :)

Marine swap meets are great places to get deals on used goodies.
You started by saying you would set it to #1. What does that mean, and how many other choices are there?

Bill, are you the owner of Torphins II ?
Does anyone have the manual for this autopilot?
Analog hunting auto pilot. Ill show my age but I cut my teeth on Wood Freeman hunting auto pilots. What is the range of your craft? Assume 7 knots.
