      My Gene test told me the same thing but I had bad side effects with cymbalta and effexor which are in the same class so I wonder if pristiq is paying these gene companies. The test also said I was more likely to have problems with Wellbutrin than anything else, but it has worked better with left side effects than half a dozen other things I've tried over the years

    I was on 150mg per day pristiq for about 7 years for anxiety and depression, I honestly never noticed any negative side effects the whole time except if I forgot to take it on time in the morning I would get brain zaps in the afternoon to remind me I'd forgotten to take my pills. I eventually decided I'd been on medication for long enough and it was time to get off, I tapered off the pristiq over 3 months and the only withdrawal side effect I got was again the annoying brain zaps which continued for a month or two after I had completely finished tapering off.

    • @ats-3693
      @ats-3693 Рік тому

      @@PillagingGinger Brain zaps are a common side effect when you discontinue an SSRI or SNRI, its a strange little zap feeling kind of like tiny electric shocks that happen occasionally, I felt them in my head but also arms and upper body, for me they weren't awful but a bit annoying, if I didn't know what they were I would have been anxious about them but I was told to expect them and read many people get them when coming off an SSRI or SNRI.
      When i was on Pristiq I would get the brain zaps in the afternoon if I forgot to take the pills in the morning they would be my reminder that I'd forgotten to take my pills, when I tapered off and stopped taking Pristiq I had them daily for a couple of months, it never really bothered me though.

      You will want to move to a similar drug, like Effexor, at an equivalent dose. Pristiq cannot be reduced in dosage because it is a time-release capsule. But Effexor can be dosed at different strengths. Then taper down the strength of the Effexor over time.

I did not taper, cold turkey after hernia surgery. Literally went into hypomania, like an extreme intense feeling, a very intense forceful brain almost if that makes sense? For like 4-5 weeks. Nothin helped, they gave me alprazolam, quetiapine, pregabalin….. literally did nothing. Finally it went away just with time.
