This medication was my absolute lifesaver. I respond terribly to SSRIs, my body is very sensitive. This medicine worked from dose one for my insomnia and debilitating anxiety. I’ve been on it almost a year and a half witu no need for a dose increase. No weight gain at all (I’ve lost 15 lbs in the last year in fact), I look at life much more positively and have a lot more energy, am more outgoing and social. This is a Godsend. To anyone struggling to find their medication or combination PLEASE do not give up, it takes a few tries as it did for me and I was so discouraged but there is something that works for ur brain chemistry 💖
Exactly the same experience with Mirtazapine as myself, it really has transformed my life for the better, I was prescribed it for anxiety attacks and insomnia but it has made such a difference to every aspect of my life.
Me too, after trying 10 other antidepressants since the 1990s i finally settled on this one. I don't believe i can ever come off it though as the depressive tendancies and automatic extreme worrying are too enmeshed in my personality.
I was just put on 7.5 and the first 2 days I wasn’t feeling well. Now it’s been over a week and I’m feeling better. I can now get a good night sleep. And enjoy a good meal. Thank you for this video. I have learned alot watching you. Thank you
How much r you on Why is Seroquel bad? I’m on a few nights 15mg at night Today took half in morning and other half in afternoon as I get bad anxiety heart racing panic attacks
As it increase sleep time i am using 30mg mirtazpaine 1st week i feel awkard but after that is works wells now using mirtaz 30 after that will slowly lower my doses and than stop medications .you can use walkalert 50in day u can consult with your docter
I am Italian. I take mirtazapine to counteract the early awakening insomnia that made me ill after several years of shift work. I currently take 7.5 mg of mirtazapine along with 2 mg of melatonin. the treatment works. mirtazapine saved my life.
Gamechanger! Ten years of trying different antidepressant medications, with the most horrid side effects. Finally came upon this, helps me rekindle my love of food, makes me feel normal again.
20 yrs all the SSRI's from Zoloft to Prozac done Absolutely nothing but gave me a crook gut. This medication almost worked instantly! I'm kinda pissed this was never an option earlier on! Thanks for the Vid.

@Ohkeh640 never had seraquil myself (I don't think) but it seems to zombify ppl. I never even suffered full on panic attacks I was actually suffering opioid withdrawal. But since having been given anti anxiety meds I too now know what a panic attack is, like you're drowning or dying but you're not. Absolutely horrible feeling. This medication seems to only have 2 main side affects for me hunger and morning drowsiness. Otw it's just a slight mellow feeling taking the edge off things throughout the day. I tried to go up on the dose but felt a bit weird at times so I stuck with the low dose. I can think much clearer and actually do basic things without being as frozen or paralysed with anxiety. This drug doesn't seem to zonk me throughout the day which is great. Hoping I can take it short term n get on with things after that. Cheers.
Thank you so much for this video and the comments below. I am severely underweight, I have no appetite and have been depressed since 2015. One day my mom was taken away only to die in 2019. I left Florida and moved to Tennessee and my new primary care doctor has prescribed me this drug. I don’t really have sleeping issues but The loss of appetite and depression stand out. I pray this works for me.
I've been on mirtazapine for 7 months now, it increased my appetite and sleep. In 7 months I gained 16kg in weight. I started at 36kg and I'm now 51kg, never been more happy with meds
Am also taking 3.75 mg but not daily but its taking longer time to sleep but morning grogginess is there? If we continuously take, will the grogginess go away?
I am in the UK (well Wales) and have just started on these last week, started on 7.5 to give me some peace from my crippling anxiety (I have suffered regular mental collapses since 19 on and off) they have helped to an extent however find myself sleeping in up to 11:30 (bare in mind a lie in for me is 8am) and struggle with grogginess for 1 to 2 hours after afterwards, one side effect I have had from them is increased aggression/burst of rage over silly things on and off, I have just upped to 15gm the aim is to hit 30mg and the rage seems to have got worse so will be speaking to my GP/MHP about what to do next (as I dont stomach SSRIs very well since turning 40), and whilst not helping me with regards to the anger issues, I just wanted to thank you for the best and most informative video I have found on UA-cam, It has helped on many other levels of understanding, you have yourself a new subscriber, thank you
Try boxing if or a punch. My testosterone is ..feels.. so low rage would be a good thing but I don't know how bad your rage is but we all know how a few seconds of rage can do more harm than years of drug abuse. I played online poker and my god if you want to experience the full range of emotions that is one place to experiment. I hated being a loser and that drove me to control my highs and lows and although Xanax won me tournaments in real life there is honestly no need for medication in controlling your rage. All these meds catch up on you at our age and take any bit of good out life there is ✌🏻 Poker will mess you up but it has a lot to teach you about life. I got made a fool of one year and was going around angry until I wandered into a casino and remembered all I learned about controlling my emotions and realized that I had let an "opponent" get me angry causing me to make catastrophic mistakes in the game. My god ... I'll never forget that moment. I wish I had an opponent now cos I have zero motivation. I want money but I'd rather watch UA-cam than walk across the road to collect it. Side effect of the poker I'm starting to think
I had a breakdown after havin 2 giv up succesful horse career due 2 congenital heart disease & other health issues. then suffering from crippling anxiety depression (cldnt leave house 4 4mths) I now hav take diazepam 2go the house. Hav 2 b careful with meds I take. Plus side Mirtazapine only thing that knocks me out (45mg). Downside makes me feel 'numb' & detached hardly ever cry now use 2b so active and work outdoors now hav 2 push myself to go out with my beloved dog.
I'm so glad someone else has said this!! I raised this with my GP when my dose was upped to 15mg and was told "that's not possible because that's not a side effect of mirtazapine" but upped my dose to 30mg because I was still feeling pretty low. Now I've been on it a year it seemed to have mellowed out but I still get flare ups of "irritability " i.e rage, lets be honest, every so often. How have you got on with it now?
Could the rage be associated with peri menopause? From my research and talking to friends and family and being in a few Facebook groups, the rage, along with the anxiety is very common in women approaching peri menopause. Also it’s very common for peri menopause to start in late 30s early 40s!
@@Cat-uq7kj I came off them and swapped to amitriptyline which did not cause the same issue, since then needed to add sertraline each morning and have the combo that finally works, hope you have found equilibrium also.
Wasn't right for me, but reading the comments gives me appreciation for how different we all are. I got terrible RLS and night terrors with sleep paralysis.
The issue for a lot of people, is when you first start taking it the sleepiness. So if you're working at the time it can affect that. When the sleepiness during the day goes after a few weeks, it actually helped me a lot at work, reduces anxiety and stress and gave me a drive to work hard.
So the sleepiness goes away? I have only taken it a few weeks. I eat all the time, and I am always tired and sleepy. Fluoxetine made my insomnia so bad. I\'m not taking anything so I'm feeling tired and fed up with everything.
This drug saved my life. I was rushed to hospital with LC and was delirious for a week, pushed out of hospital in a wheelchair. I was bed ridden for 12 weeks. I went though hell as my autonomic nervous system was wired. I was waking up with electrical shocks, panic attacks. I then was prescribed 7.5 mg for sleep and wow, awesome. The sleep calmed my system and helped my body repair
have you noticed any weight gain? Also, just curious if you were effected by grogginess in the morning. Thinking of taking this but one problem I have is not being able to fall asleep until late and severe trouble getting up in the morning
Did the exact same thing for me. Are you still dealing with any symptoms? I get like flare ups now and then ever since getting Covid in 2021. Starting to think I have hyperthyroidism.
@@aw8one Yes, still many symptoms it has affected my brain and nervous system the most. Nausea just typing this. Needle stabbing pains in my eyes, involuntary neck jaw and head twitches. Still insomnia, days were I can’t go out. The martazipne is a god send though. I’ve also still got tachycardia and if I walk for more than 500 metres I’m paying for it the next day. Slow progress
I started 5mg for insomnia and it made my sleep excellent! I lost a lot of weight on Prozac and mirtazapine helped me reach a healthy appetite levels. It also helped me with clonazepam withdrawal. Truly a right med for me.
Mirtazapine is great as a sleep aid and antidepressant. However, I gained so much weight, I had to come off it. People should approach this med with caution.
@@lazylurker2842 Yes, eventually. But I do now have to watch what I eat, to a degree, and exercise, which I've never had to do, to make sure it stays off!
It can be countered with calorie control. I've lost over 20kg while taking Mirtazapine through diet and exercise and have visible abs for the first time in my life.
@@noloveforthehaters Same here, well, not quite abs. But I have been able to lose 13kg since I started taking Mirtazapine and keep it off. I will say though, if I so much as look at a hamburger I'll gain weight🤣. You just gotta be careful, but the sleeping effects are more than worth it and you can maintain or lose weight on it.
I can’t imagine life without it, the sedative part happens on low doses, but with a higher dose it doesn’t make you sleepy. Works great for me to keep my thoughts in order, and keep the anxiety at bay.
How much r you on Why is Seroquel bad? I’m on a few nights 15mg at night Today took half in morning and other half in afternoon as I get bad anxiety heart racing panic attacks
Some of the side effects ive found at the beginning was restless leg, very lucid dreaming, and can also making you feel a little foggy in the morning, but luckily all of those side effects have disappeared over the next few weeks
I have been taking 15mg each evening and my sleep has been vastly improved. ( Due to not waking up every hour ) I am thankful to my wonderful Doctor for prescribing this medication for me. I am even starting to see blue skies through the dark clouds after four doses. My last anti depressants which i had been taking on and off since 2010 was Escitalopram in different doses had lost its effectiveness. I want to get back to my old happy humorous self and this may be the start it. I hope this anti depressant works for you! Peace, love and happiness to all! 😊 💖👍🏻
My anxiety was so bad it was making me suicidal. I was prescribed Sertraline by an idiot doctor who failed tell me that it makes anxiety worse to start with. Before I went completely crazy another doctor prescribed Mirtazapine. I am 8 months in and though I am still slowly improving on the depression side, Mirtazapine is almost a miracle drug when it comes to anxiety. I went from a skaking wreck to a relatively calm person from the moment I started the medication. And I found that I have still been able to LOSE weight with my disciplined eating habits.
I was prescribed 15mg Remeron at bedtime as an off-label med for gastroparesis. It has helped relax my digestive system as well as helping the gut/brain connection.
Thanks so much for making this videos. I learnt a lot about all kinds of medicine. After watching this, I actually mentioned it to the psychiatrist of my relative who then prescribed it to my relative. And from day one, he is sleeping much better now. And anxiety also gradually goes away, and it's only been 2 weeks. Before that, another doctor was prescribing Lorazepam and Trazodone which didn't help that much with the anxiety and stopped working after a while for the sleeping as well. Really appreciate your education videos. They save lives.
I have been on Remeron for 10 years. I have been scared to quit. But I decided a while back to stop. I had extreme insomnia and suffered from overthinking at night. But for 10 years I have been very overweight because of this drug. I binge at night, which also led to bad self esteem and another type of depression. I have been drowsy and had no energy for years. I can barely remember my life without it. For a couple of days I felt weird and unstable. Shaky. But then I all of the sudden out of nowhere feel happier and a type of joy I haven't felt in years. I also lost all my cravings instantly. It is really weird. I think Remeron is a great thing for a while to get you back on track. However I think 10 years have been far to long so you lose sight of who you used to be. For me, I should have probably quit years ago. And for some it probably works wonders over years too :) I think these kinda drugs there is such a huge variety of experiences. And you can only really know until you try it yourself. Dont lose yourself like I did. I am happy to be out of it now and to find who I used to be again :)
i completly get where your coming from i was on the stuff for 9 months and its hard to describe to people who arent on it, but the best i can say is that part of your brain which motivates you is gone, i was so diffrent as a person while on it, i lost all emotion and i didnt see anything wrong until i realized one day that on my daughters birthday that i felt nothing a complete indiferance of emotions, i couldnt even cry anymore, and i aplaud you for coming of it after 10 years, it truelly is a nightmare drug which only people who have taken it will understand, because it made me not depressed but also made everything else disapear which you kinda need to be a fuctional adult, and i do wish doctors would stop recommending this because its cheaper and less tested then the alternative.
This medication works incredibly well for my depression. I tired sertraline and citalopram (ssri’s) for four years before getting on mirtazapine, and they didn’t do anything to help. The only side effects that I get from mirtazapine is weight gain and vivid dreams (that sometimes manifest as nightmares, but not often enough for it to feel like a problem) but I’d rather be overweight than depressed at the end of the day. Mirtazapine also does wonders for helping me get to sleep, and feeling well rested in the morning. It also acts as a strong anti-histamine which has cleared up my allergies and hayfever so I no longer have to take tablets for that anymore.
@@pcorp09 I got what I could only describe as “brain zaps”. It felt like my brain was getting these mini electric shocks and it got worse when I moved in any capacity. That was the only major physical withdrawal symptom I got. It lasted for a couple weeks. But besides that I didn’t really have any other symptoms.
@@HapVic no, it doesn’t make you numb at all. It’s so different from ssri’s. The best way I can describe it, is that it brings you back to your “normal” state. The first thing I noticed for me after I started taking it, was that I started to enjoy listening to music again, and then it was all just upwards from there. It hasn’t solved all my problems. I don’t think I’ll ever go back to who I was before depression. But at least I’m not waking up every morning wishing I hadn’t. I enjoy my life now and look forward to things.
I have battled chronic maintenance insomnia and anxiety for some time. I finally went to a psychiatrist who prescribed martazapine. It is really helping me out, I’ve been using it for 5 weeks. It took some adjusting, the sedation effect was really strong for the first week but at the same time I felt restless: during the day I felt groggy and at night I’d wake up and fall back to sleep constantly. Natural sleep vs sedation feels very different. However after about week 3 I feel adjusted, I’m sleeping so much better, feels more natural. Hopefully after another 2 months I can start waning it off. Did not know that weight gain was an effect. Oh well, I was underweight anyway so great! Thanks for the video.
I use 7,5mg per day for insomnia. Works wonders. After one hour of intake, you will fall asleep. I do wake up in the night tho, but I will fall asleep basically immediately after that. Always have an audio book runnin to mitigate my tinnitus, and never remeber where it left off.
Nice to know, and I am taking that into consideration when I take the medicine. I was going after the fact, that the CMAX was about an hour after intake.@@rocksoliddude1
Mirtazapine helped me through a rough time and helped me manage anxiety and depression and to get to sleep at night. Unfortunately, it caused me to gain 40 lbs in less than a year. I also felt tired, low energy all the time. I decided to go off of it this summer. It was rough but I am feeling pretty good now.
Thanks for sharing your experience. Do you know if you gained weight because you ate more (I know it increases hunger) or did you eat the same amount and still gain weight ? (I've heard it can also affect metabolism)
I experienced this as well when I took 30 mg. Other antidepressants as Paroxetine caused gastrointestinal problems and weight loss. Now Mirtazepine 7,5 mg -> a little bit of weight gain but not to say bothering.
Thank you for your review. I am on the so called California ride as my doc put it and you have referenced. And as a person that until yesterday was missing her mirtazapine for the evenings for 11 days. I must tell you - this morning after finally refilling my perscribtion yesterday - I have woken up again with a bright and positive day ahead like i can tackle it 🎉 Unlike when suddenly i realized I dont have any more of the mirtazapine and my days progressively became darker, more disgusting in outlook and reception, and generally very anxious 😟 Anyway, I'm from EU - and the world is not spoiling me or us - so here to tackling this world through dark humor again 😂🎉
I have MDD. I started lexapro but it leveled off and i was still struggling. So my doc just added this to my lexapro. I took my first one a bit ago. So remeron at 15 mg and lexapro at 20 mg. Hoping this really helps! My BMI is down to 15 from the GAD so im certainly not worried about the increased appetite. I need that part of it lol. Thanks for the info!
I had that with lexapro it worked well for 5 month then completely stopped working then tried prozac and turned into a zombie sleeping 18 hours a day now I am on setraline is better but the fatique in thr muscles is horrendous and the insomnia is back 6 hours to get to sleep from when I put my head on the pillow. I tried effexor first that was utterly mind bending the worst of the lot. Time to try something new.
@@jenniferlee9029 it didnt. The remeron has side effects and i was constantly sweating. Like soaked sweating. So they put it as a reaction and took me off of it. Lexapro is doing nothing alone, however still taking it. My current doctor just took another job. So now i have to get a new one and start over i guess. I did gain like 10 pounds in 2 months though. But lost it after i was taken off. They just added more lexapro. So now i take 30 mg.
I've been on this medication for years, not being able to take regular anti depression meds because of extreme headaches, after I first started and got used to it it was fine, but recently had a string of events that drug me back down to depression, the remedy was to go from 30 to 45 mg. Starting tonight with the change & staying hopeful
This pill has changed my life. I am still using tentralox but it’s too expensive. This medication is so affordable and works so much better. I was given a tablet but then asked for the disintegrating tablet like my dad has and it works 100x better. Thanks for this video!
I been on this medication for 2 years its saved my life. But i don't want to be on antidepressants for ever. And what they don't tell you can become dependent on antidepressant. I get moodswings thinking its all in my mind i want to find myself again. Heal and move on but i scare of withdrawals symptoms. I ended up getting covid this week And i thought that was in my head too. No it was covid.
I been on Mirtazapine for 5 year's on all doses - mostly 30 or 45mg. Also taking Sertraline 200mg. I am still having depression and intrusive thoughts and anxiety. Doesn't keep me asleep very well. No weight gain as I have no appetite, in fact struggle to put weight on and can loose 30 pounds or more in few months when my head is bad.
You should be on a low dose to help with sleep I take 7.5g and it works for me I have been on higher dose 45g that just kept me numb not able to do anything. Does these meds just keep you numb?
Vitamin B1 helps with racing thoughts, but Magnesium Glycinate might help more with your anxiety and maybe the intrusive thoughts after the anxiety is under control.
I am so glad you are so versed in this medication, I had a partial thyroidectomy and was depressed afterward, I cannot tolerate the neausea with SNRI's but mirtazipine helps neuroepinephrine and seratonin it helps me alot and helps me sleep, however i do have a problem with weight gain and this may be why....Thank you for this video information.
Your videos are great thank you for all the info! I would recommend going easy on all the text effects and the background music it's a bit distracting. Since this is an educational video, I would enjoy the videos more if it felt less gimmicky. Nevertheless great content!
@@LevelheadedMind I actually love the text effects and whatnot! I’m a bit more visual and it helps me to remember! I think everyone’s different! Still great video!
Hello, I just wanted to say your vids are really helpful and has helped me out a lot! I just had a genesight test done and turns out I have MTHFR C677T gene mutation and was wondering if that is something you could make a video of? It explains a lot on why different meds have not worked for me and hopefully helps me find the right meds to help me.
New in antidepressants. Last month I tried for 2 weeks lexapro. Omg that pill gave me horrible sleep and nightmares, extremely sweating, bowel issues and felt nervous all day long. My doc told me to stop it because my body cant handle it because of my chronic stress that reacts with it. Today he gave me this medicine but i didn't start it today. I am scared of side effects and weight gain. I suffer from burnout I am totally exhausted. My body is like having an inner nervous shaking and I feel nervous, have a hard heartbeat and difficulty to relax. And insomnia of course. I dont want to take medicines but i am at the bottom now. Maybe I will find the courage to take it tomorrow. So 😱
@@kristinaluster Hi. I am on mirtazapine 0.75mg for 3 weeks now. Sleep is better now but hard to wake up. Some drowsiness during the day as well. But it helps with anxiety and fix my mood so far. Since i started I gain no weight but yes I am hungry but I don't let myself to eat more than usuall. My doc told my to try 15mg. I will do it at next weekend. Give it a try
How are you doing? Seems it works good so far besides the drowsiness but better then some sort of pain or anxiety. I also god it and im a bit scared to take it but it seems it doesnt have hard sideeffects
@@jimmyhopkins4095 give it a try. I am much better now. It helps with anxiety and sleep issues but tell your doctor to give you a starter dose at 0.75mg just to see how your body tolerate the med. I started with 3,5mg and after two weeks 7.5mg. I am ok with this dose so I don't need to take more at the moment. Don't be afraid as I was. Take it and if you don't like the way makes you feel stop it. I m waiting for your feedback. Good luck. Be brave and remember you are not alone
Anyone gain wait on only 7.5? I've used it a few times & gained weight so much on 15g but I'm going to stick to 7.5 this time. I really don't like weight gain but the only one that works for me
Thank you for such an informative video! I’ve been on mirtazapine for a year now and it has been an absolute lifesaving medicament (plus therapy) and I am so grateful it worked, but, I have gained noticeable weight while on it but was wondering if people can lose the weight is gained whilst still taking antidepressants? My appetite hasn’t increased and I exercise regularly but can’t seem to manage to lose the extra weight.
It can be difficult to lose the weight, but it is possible. Intermittent fasting and/or Keto diet may be helpful, but be sure to clear this with your doctor first.
Thank you sharing the information! I've been taking Mirtazapin on and off for several years. I take 7.5 mg and it helps me sleep longer and fall asleep faster. Appetite is somewhat increased and I have hangovers, however no impact at all on my libido and sensation down there, I still very much enjoy sex 🙂 For me it's a great medication to treat my sleep disorder.
After first dose I got terrible RLS,dizziness, grogginess and total brain fog. After first dose I was hungry during the night, couldnt stop thinking about food. Not for me at all.
i literally took half a 45mg mirtazapine (doctor prescribed 45mg, psychiatrist told me to take half) for insomnia (also with some depression) and started watching this video... realized half of 45mg is still way too much for the sedative effect i'm looking for...
Better than most of the SSRI's / SNRI's. You have to trust the medicine and keep taking it at least a month before judging it. The extreme sedation during daytime tends to go away completely with time. The appetite increase does not go away but if you can excerise some willpower you can keep yourself from gaining weight / overeating. This drug can augument or be combined with almost everything (unlike most other antidepressants). It is also very effective against allergies.
Been on 7.5 for 2 months only gained about 6 pounds has helped with sleep and my depression didnt even wanna get out of bed before .sometimes feel very tired but not to bad
Thanks for the video! The weight gain though! I have found myself sleep eating as well! It has gotten better with exercise and diet but still having trouble.

Yes, can be great combination. Especially when using higher doses of mirtazepine to get greater norepinephrine effect. Bupropion can also mitigate the increased appetite of mirtazepine.
Would it be weird to request this combination from my psychiatrist (or at least ask her about it)? I've been trying TMS therapy but it's just not enough for my MDD and meditation has been a double-edged sword for me. Thank you.@@LevelheadedMind
I’ve took Prozac, lithium and drug similar to those. They may be more depressed, more suicidal and extremely agitated and extremely on edge that was like 20 years ago so I’ve been dealing with my depression ever since then and now my doctor wants to put me on this medication and I’m scared to take it because of those reasons. But my depression has gotten way way worse. What should I do?
Been taking 45 mg for over a year snd a half, but over the last four months have become incredibly lightheaded, and only get relief when laying down I want off this drug, so I'm trying 30 mg have been at that for about three weeks and will try 22 maybe next week.... hoping for better dsydy
I have adhd and have had insomnia in different degrees of severety throut most of my life. Mirtazapine accutally is more sedating to me at higher doses. It makes a lot of sense since my adhd medication also makes me sedated
I was prescribed this for anxiety and insomnia. After reading and finding out side effects. Awful weight gain stimulating appetite. Feeling starving all of the time. I understand the need to stimulate appetite in patients who are depressed and not eating. There is nothing wrong with my eating, and I don't wish to put on anymore weight! Not for me I'm not taking them.
can't lose weight on mirtazapine, hardly eating enough to get through the day, and I have a very physical job and walk for an hour to get to work. As soon as i have any carbs, I load on weight like I ate all bad all week. How can i help this?
Combined with resistance training and a calorie deficit this drug can contribute to amazing health outcomes. It's influence on improving REM sleep and lowering cortisol gives it an almost anabolic upside.
Gave me restless legs and weight gain. Did absolutely nothing for my depression, in fact as I increased from 15 to 30mg it Made me more agitated to the point where I was almost having panic attacks. The withdrawals when stopping were much worse than when stopping SSRIs. It’s interesting that some people find this a helpful drug as it was nothing but a disaster for me.
This medication fixed my sleep issues and has very little downside. I think it has a slight drying effect but not super noticeable and I just have a big glass of water when I wake up.
Why would you use the dissolvable instead of the tablet, and vice versa? What are the advantages / Disadvantages of using each method? Does the dissolvable work quicker? Is it sublingual? I, like many others, haven't responded well to SSRIs (Last tried Lexapro) and I'm trying to resolve both insomnia and depression which absolutely eats at me and makes feel me awful. I feel heavy hearted everyday and almost anytime I'm awake. Also I also feel so tired and not alert because of not enough rest. Thank you for the good video. Depression is a horrible disease. Just to anyone else, when you are lost, you are not alone.
Thank you for your continued education. Was wondering if starting this for insomnia at 7.5mg would it be hard to come off eventually since it hits lots of receptors? Maybe safer than the z drugs? Thank you
@levelheadedmind mirtazipine worked great at just half of 7.5 but gives me constipation and craving for carbohydrates .But it works so well for anxiety and insomnia.... Any suggestions.
Work on your microbiome, use a good probiotic with clinical research that it works such as MegaSpore. This can really help with digestive issues that are commonly caused by antidepressants. Of coarse make sure you are eating good, clean food and increasing fiber and water in your diet. Also, discuss with your doctor if probiotics would be safe for you to take.

Nootropics are used for enhancing brain function including memory and cognition. There are many nootropics out there not just one. One medication that was termed "smart" drug was Modafinil which is an NDRI stimulant medication used for narcolepsy, which I discuss in the video here ua-cam.com/video/Vc2axpatrMU/v-deo.html
It gave me very much trouble. After taking Mirtazepine I was very much hungry everytime. My appetite increased very much and weight gain was very much even in 1 week.
I’ve been taking this medicine like 4 years. Recently it cause me bad effects: tired, slow, fatigue, sleepy, memory problems, hungry, weight gain and others. I try several times to quit but I get chronic insomnia, is very frustrating
This made me a zombie while I was taking it regularly for depression. I still have it prescribed in a small dose it to assist with sleeping and it can be effective for that if used infrequently and carefully timed but I can't take it for long - as it accumulates I quickly lose all motivation and 'energy'. I have no effect from withdrawal other than relief of the symptoms.
i have a family member whos scared hearing "agonist" or some reason saying they dont want it to have bad effects with his methadone clinic? idk something about being worried about restless legs or having a "distonic? reaction?" can any of those happen/ is it safe for him to take being on the methadone clinic? its extended release "cherry syrup form" that he drinks in a cup every day he got prescribed mirtazapine and is scared to take it.
Hello, thank you for such a comprehensive and quality explanation. I have severe recurrent depression without psychotic symptoms (F33.2). The doctor prescribed mirtazapine 30mg/day and aripiprazole 15mg/day. Do you think this combination can be effective? Thank you.

I’m 5’3 108 pounds and I’m terrified of weight gain. I’ve been pretty much the same weight since I was 15 (I’m 22). Does it just increase appetite or also hunger (these are different but often used interchangeably)? After I eat, I’m still starving but don’t eat because I think my body is tricking me. It’s terrible. I’m always starving.

Cheers.

I have taken Mirtazapine for 8 years now but only a 3,75mg dose for sleep. I have had a lifetime without sleep until I started taking Mirtazapine 🙌
Am also taking 3.75 mg but not daily but its taking longer time to sleep but morning grogginess is there? If we continuously take, will the grogginess go away?
I got this prescribed today and it is the first time I will take antidepressants, so I am happy to get more information on it, thank you.
All these meds catch up on you at our age and take any bit of good out life there is ✌🏻
Poker will mess you up but it has a lot to teach you about life.

Exactly, and muscular weakness, so I will not continue with this, only took 15mg and 7;5 and didn't take the third day

Isn't it supposed to help with motivation?
Can I ask what dose are you on please?
How was your withdrawal with sertraline and citalopram? Thanks.
Does it help with motivation and interest in activities that bring you pleasure. Or it makes you emotionally numb?

I take it, the sedating effect actually peaks 2-3 hours after taking the pill. Or about 45 minutes for the dissolving ones.
Nice to know, and I am taking that into consideration when I take the medicine. I was going after the fact, that the CMAX was about an hour after intake.@@rocksoliddude1

@@LevelheadedMindketo is a deadly diet. Stick to meds🙏 sorry
I get a lot of side afects off matazpine it gives me panic atacts
Why do you take it then if it doesnt work for you>?
@@brock8281 i took it becouse the dr sied it would help ?
Thank you sharing the information! I've been taking Mirtazapin on and off for several years. I take 7.5 mg and it helps me sleep longer and fall asleep faster. Appetite is somewhat increased and I have hangovers, however no impact at all on my libido and sensation down there, I still very much enjoy sex 🙂 For me it's a great medication to treat my sleep disorder.
After first dose I got terrible RLS,dizziness, grogginess and total brain fog. After first dose I was hungry during the night, couldnt stop thinking about food. Not for me at all.
I think that’s known as a side effects so I think it’s normal
Mirtazapine 15mg helped me to sleep better during first 3 weeks, but now I sleep badly again...
Take 5 mg of zolpidem any sleeping pill or melatonin
This medication was a lifesaver but it was hard to get off😢
i literally took half a 45mg mirtazapine (doctor prescribed 45mg, psychiatrist told me to take half) for insomnia (also with some depression) and started watching this video... realized half of 45mg is still way too much for the sedative effect i'm looking for...
How do you taper if it is more sedating at lower dose?
Better than most of the SSRI's / SNRI's. You have to trust the medicine and keep taking it at least a month before judging it. The extreme sedation during daytime tends to go away completely with time. The appetite increase does not go away but if you can excerise some willpower you can keep yourself from gaining weight / overeating. This drug can augument or be combined with almost everything (unlike most other antidepressants). It is also very effective against allergies.
so you mind doing a memory and focus meditation?
Should you lower or increase dose 🤔 if unsure
Been on 7.5 for 2 months only gained about 6 pounds has helped with sleep and my depression didnt even wanna get out of bed before .sometimes feel very tired but not to bad
Thanks for the video! The weight gain though! I have found myself sleep eating as well! It has gotten better with exercise and diet but still having trouble.
Thank you for the vid. Do you know which component of the medicine which promotes sleep ? Thanks
Blocks histamine receptors

J am starting with 3.75 mg (half of 7.5 mg) of mirtazapine for insomnia, can be this very low dosage of mirtazapine (3.75 mg) potentially sufficient for insomnia?

Can you do a video about moclobomide?
I’ve read about high efficacy when combining this with Buproprion. What are your thoughts on this?
Yes, can be great combination. Especially when using higher doses of mirtazepine to get greater norepinephrine effect. Bupropion can also mitigate the increased appetite of mirtazepine.
Would it be weird to request this combination from my psychiatrist (or at least ask her about it)? I've been trying TMS therapy but it's just not enough for my MDD and meditation has been a double-edged sword for me. Thank you.@@LevelheadedMind
I was on it and it didn't really help me it was really drying my sinuses very bad..
Does the tiredness wear off from Mirtazapine as you increase the dose?
This cause really bad dry mouth. I also gained 10lbs.
Not for people who alternate morning and evening shift like nurses or manufacturing line workers.
Causes restless leg syndrome for sure
I’ve took Prozac, lithium and drug similar to those. They may be more depressed, more suicidal and extremely agitated and extremely on edge that was like 20 years ago so I’ve been dealing with my depression ever since then and now my doctor wants to put me on this medication and I’m scared to take it because of those reasons. But my depression has gotten way way worse. What should I do?
Been taking 45 mg for over a year snd a half, but over the last four months have become incredibly lightheaded, and only get relief when laying down
I want off this drug, so I'm trying 30 mg have been at that for about three weeks and will try 22 maybe next week.... hoping for better dsydy
I have adhd and have had insomnia in different degrees of severety throut most of my life. Mirtazapine accutally is more sedating to me at higher doses. It makes a lot of sense since my adhd medication also makes me sedated
Can i take this with Bupropion and Guanfacine?
I was prescribed this for anxiety and insomnia. After reading and finding out side effects. Awful weight gain stimulating appetite. Feeling starving all of the time. I understand the need to stimulate appetite in patients who are depressed and not eating. There is nothing wrong with my eating, and I don't wish to put on anymore weight! Not for me I'm not taking them.
Verry Bad, extreme Weight Gain, and developing of Insulin Resistance, later Diabetes, same bad as Olanzapine
Helped me sleep, but that's about it. Hoping i can get some anxiolysis.
Excellent video!! Can you please make a video about OCD specifically and best medication for treating it?
Great video idea, I will consider it.
can't lose weight on mirtazapine, hardly eating enough to get through the day, and I have a very physical job and walk for an hour to get to work. As soon as i have any carbs, I load on weight like I ate all bad all week. How can i help this?
Try keto and limit carbs.
Thank you for this. My doctor just put me on mutt for my PTSD but I was reluctant to turn to pharmaceuticals to treat it.
Combined with resistance training and a calorie deficit this drug can contribute to amazing health outcomes. It's influence on improving REM sleep and lowering cortisol gives it an almost anabolic upside.
Should I be worried about weight gain if I don't increase calories once I start?
Gave me restless legs and weight gain. Did absolutely nothing for my depression, in fact as I increased from 15 to 30mg it
Made me more agitated to the point where I was almost having panic attacks.
The withdrawals when stopping were much worse than when stopping SSRIs.
It’s interesting that some people find this a helpful drug as it was nothing but a disaster for me.
It takes nine weeks to kick in
This medication fixed my sleep issues and has very little downside.
Also, discuss with your doctor if probiotics would be safe for you to take.
thank you. my psych just prescribed this for me today after years of my refusing any anti-deps because of the side effects hitting me too hard & the meds not really doing anything substantial
hoping THIS may be different AND actually effective
Are there any smart drugs to increase memory and cognitive abilities?
Nootropics are used for enhancing brain function including memory and cognition. There are many nootropics out there not just one. One medication that was termed "smart" drug was Modafinil which is an NDRI stimulant medication used for narcolepsy, which I discuss in the video here ua-cam.com/video/Vc2axpatrMU/v-deo.html
@@LevelheadedMind I’ve been using Modafinil to combat the foggy brain my PTSD gives me. It’s been a miracle drug
How did u come off them
@@Ohkeh640 just changed to something else. cant remember what that was now
So in the lower dosage such as the 7.5mg, is the weight gain still a big issue or is it more prevalent at the higher dosages???
Did u gain weight?
i have a family member whos scared hearing "agonist" or some reason saying they dont want it to have bad effects with his methadone clinic? idk something about being worried about restless legs or having a "distonic? reaction?" can any of those happen/ is it safe for him to take being on the methadone clinic? its extended release "cherry syrup form" that he drinks in a cup every day
he got prescribed mirtazapine and is scared to take it.
Been on 6 weeks went to 22.5 week 4. No effect on my anxiety or depression . It has helped me sleep. Im about ready to give up on this med.
My house doctor took me off Mirtazapine because it helps not as good against anxiety as sertraline.
So a question to you Doc. Should I start with 15 mg starting dose or 30 mg?
Hello, thank you for such a comprehensive and quality explanation. I have severe recurrent depression without psychotic symptoms (F33.2). The doctor prescribed mirtazapine 30mg/day and aripiprazole 15mg/day. Do you think this combination can be effective? Thank you.
So what causes the weight gain? Is it the increased appetite or a chemical itself in the drug?
Increase in appetite caused by the histamine blocking. Some people can overcome this with intermittent fasting and exercise.
Was just looking at this video and looked at comments. You're the first person I've heard of that said the same as me. Its really helped my hayfever as well. The only side is weight gain.but I'm going to start some exercise and cut down on snacking and see if that helps.
Can I combine mertazopine with 5 htp?
I'm coming off this one. Slow withdrawal for all a ti depressants. 3 months is too short. Weight gain too
I took it in a small dose at first as suggested by my doctor it knocked me out cold but as I increased the the dosage it was less of a sedative worked well but the the 3 stone weight increase from 12 1/2 stone to well over 15 stone
Did you eat more
I’m 5’3 108 pounds and I’m terrified of weight gain. I’ve been pretty much the same weight since I was 15 (I’m 22). Does it just increase appetite or also hunger (these are different but often used interchangeably)? After I eat, I’m still starving but don’t eat because I think my body is tricking me. It’s terrible. I’m always starving.
Get weird dreams & greater startle response on mirtazipine
