It's so refreshing seeing a woman making jokes and displaying their personality proudly. You're an inspiration for not just The Outdoors but for The Life too :) thanks Miranda 🙏
Just bought some Darn Tough socks a few days ago as stocking stuffers for family. They aren't even hikers, I just love those socks so much I thought they'd be worth sharing.
That's me with SmartWool! I've gotten my entire family wearing them in the past dozen years -- they just don't wear out, and they even fit my brother's honkin size 14s... lol Nothing better than wool!
Oh my fricken gosh, pick me up off the floor and slap me silly hilarious. YOU, are amazing. My sides hurt. Thank you so much for this one, great start to the week. Merry Christmas to You & Yours...and yes Nala too..🤣🎅🎄❄
YES to fanny packs :) :) My favorite outdoorsy gift is the p-style. I gifted this to both myself and my wife years ago and it remains her favorite gift of all time. We both use them all the time- makes peeing in the woods so much easier!
A re-usable stainless steel water bottle or travel mug would be a good gift too. :) And to be clear, this was Miranda's secret wish list for all the things she wants this year. Right? :)
One thing I really love is good refillable shampoo and soap bottles. No more saving of mini's, no more trying suboptimal shampoo on holiday, no, I have my favorite products always with me.
Coming from the knife community, Opinels are amazing all-around knives, respectable, awesome for whittling, and some light bush crafty kind of stuff, great price for performance too since you can get a cheap carbon steel blade. Plus they are just really cool. Also fanny packs forever, don't let anyone tell you otherwise, they are making a huge comeback.
I dig fanny and sling packs too! Fun. Video. Got my vest on...and ideas for gifts...to me most Likley. Don't know. Any outdoorsy people. But that's OK. Love REI. Bought a. Bunch of stuff from there in 2020. Slings, fanny packs, Oakley sunglasses, mountain bike shoes, waterproof riding pants,. Bike socks. Etc.
I never thought I'd ever consider myself a fanny pack person until I got an ultralight pack without hip belt pockets. Now I can't imagine hiking or backpacking without my fanny pack. I even wear it in town too. It's so hip to be square! Hahahahah!
I haven't been able to get out and do much hiking lately, but my headlamp is also really great when I'm knitting something small/fiddly like a sock heel and need good lighting.
LOL! I was just at my local REI yesterday and it's like they grabbed one of every "impulse item" along the extended checkout line. The only thing missing were the snack bars and electrolyte drink powders. P.S. - I also bought the bear socks.
I have upgraded my fanny pack last year to a hip/thigh pack. It's a pack which sits on your hip, the bottom of the pack has loop to click on closure around your thigh. It's designed for bikes, for utility. I like the weight distribution around my hips since I keep 2 cameras, hand sanitizer, wet wipes, phone etc. I feel extra security with the hip belt + tigh loop. Also, fanny pack made me look fat☺. When traveling in Europe, Fanny pack is the magnet 🧲 for pick pockets.
Great options. Not sure if im ready to rock a fanny pack yet but they are convient. I did get the biolite 330 off your reccomendation so pretty exited to try that
I really never learn anything new from most equipment recommendations or reviews. I tune in for the influencer's personality and entertainment value. This is different, as I've never heard of or seen the hero clip. I probably have seen them but thinking they are nothing more than an expensive carabiner, not realizing the hinge part opens. During wet times I hang my backpack with paracord on the strap of my trekking pole to keep it off the ground. I think this will work better so I will get one and try. Thanks Miranda!
I have that little Patagonia fanny pack and now I don’t know how I hiked without it?! I actually find it handy on day hikes as a “purse” then if I need to go to a public loo or a store before going home my pack can go in the car and I just have my money phone keys in it :) Also it’s an excellent candy/snacks pouch lol
Miranda and team...you are fast becoming my favorite short outdoorsy videos on the tube....just want to say thank you as a way of rounding out this year, I have a question... Do you by chance also work at the Seattle mothership? There is a girl that works there that from the mask up looks so much like you but when I asked her she said she was not?? Also, note of trivia....to yanks it is a fanny pack but to Brits it is a bum bag ☺ happy holidays!
i have no idea how you can live somewhere right now where fanny packs are not in fashion! they have been all over fashion for like 5 years now at least. maybe they are not like the coolest omg cool, but they are a pretty fashionable accessory to every outfit, casual or super stylish. i only use fanny packs (unless i use a backpack), i have several in different colors to match all my clothes and i always were them over the shoulder. and i have been looking at this patagonia one for a while now, its awesome! vests, tho... :D
It is disappointing that REI still carries Revel Gear Lights when that company was asking for funding via Kickstarter and moonlighting with REI at the same time and us Kickstarter backers got shafted. I complained many times to Revel, but not surprising, it falls on deaf ears.

Hilarious. That bidet reaction from cameraman is great.
I suggest a blooper video to closeout the year.

MIRANDA WE NEED THAT PATCH.
"This is my show gosh darn" in the intro is always my favorite part of your vids. 😂
The fanny pack looks like it came out of Scooby Doo. Right on. Also, 100% agree on sticker. All my computers have a million of them.

Camping/ outdoorsy stuff is so practical, don't even need to be going camping to use it! Everyone needs a spork in their life.

@@rei EXACTLY when I first got it I was very not excited but now I use it on every hike, trip, etc
I have one on every bag I own, if only to hang over the door of an airport bathroom stall if necessary. Never set your bag on the ground again!

I just got my first pair of wool socks from REI. They are a game changer!
Fanny packs for the win! I carry a treat pouch when walking my dog and have wanted a fanny pack for everyday use bc it’s so convenient!

I’d be happy with any of those gifts 👍🏻🤩😎
I have a bunch of Opinel knives as my family is French so they keep buying a gifting them. They are fantastic!

You are so very funny! I enjoyed this video. Perfect for those who have REI shopping addiction/gear acquisition syndrome (GAS).
Mate, you can make yourself a christmas gift and upgrade your basic knife to a cool swiss knife ! It has so many built-in tools !
I'm with you on the socks. I would have cussed in my teens, but now I want them ever year.
Best adventure gift I ever gave (to myself) was a Garmin Inreach. Another great idea would be a pair of microspikes for those in colder climates.
