Best gift I ever bought at REI is the National Park Pass for my son & girlfriend....they also say its the best gift they ever got! ( technically more then $50 but less then $50 per recipient!
Awww, seeing Nala being her adorable self brought a tear to my eye. Sending lots of love your way! Hope you can look back at all the footage you have of your adventure pup with a smile
Miranda is a DND nerd too?! As if I couldn’t love her more! Other gift ideas: Nalgene gift set with water bottle, sticker, splashguard, and Nuun tabs Chipper sit mat! Delta bowl with lid SPORK Kula cloth Super nice wool hiking socks, socks are the best A hammock Camping string lights A book! REI has a great selection of books, I’d highly recommend The Appalachian Trail: Backcountry Shelters, Lean-Tos, and Huts. It’s got beautiful photography and is also very informative, and would be a great gift for someone getting into the AT or someone who has already completed a thruhike!
The greatest gift to get for the holidays? More Miranda videos! Thanks for these, they keep me motivated to get out and use my gear. Happy Holidays to you and the entire REI crew!
Sending you lots of love with the loss of Nala! I know that all of the love from all of your subscribers combined isn't enough to fill the void of loosing a best friend 💔
I’m like you, shopping for the holiday gift gets me in a foul mood. However, it pays off at the end. You forgot the pee cloth?? I’m getting the kettle. Thx for the tips
People pick up dog poop on the trail? I can see if the dog poops ON the trail, but if its off the trail, just bury it. Hell, if its ON the trail, just bury it (...off the trail). Do people pack out their own poop? that's what spades and catholes are for.
I thought the most obvious / useful gift would have been 2 - 3 pairs of good, wool hiking socks, e.g. Smartwool, Bridgedale, etc. One, EVERYONE needs socks, and if they spend time outdoors, they need good socks; and Two, everyone needs good socks. Sure, it's boring, but you'll never doubt the person won't use them or appreciate them.
Socks? Really? I grew up getting to open one present on x-mas eve. Always…socks. Socks as a gift are right up there with a vacuum or something… socks are cooler now, but still they are socks.
1st , Thank you for the tip in a past video for the “Ruffwear Roamer Dog Leash” (REI, Miranda made me buy it, lol.) 2, miniature cast-iron is as spoon rest. 3, I have never drink slow enough to need a can cosy, though REI has the best looking ones.
This was actually helpful... not all of the folks in my life are super outdoorsy, but some of these things (especially the multitool, belts, and hats) can be quite useful and are things people don't usually buy for themselves. Don't judge us gift givers too much- some people's love language is giving gifts. It's all good if your way of showing others you care isn't giving gifts, but let us gift-givers have our joy LOL
100% recommend the Squirt PS4. Bring one whenever I leave the house. It's by no means a full size multitool, but being small you don't mind it in your pocket and it gets the job done when you don't have more dedicated tools at your disposal. Note: The PS4 has pliers as the main fold out and a mini scissors. The S4 has scissors as the main foldout.
The LED dog collar is fantastic! In addition to being a lifesaver with your pouch at night, it also makes a great gift for woodwind players. I use it to check for leaky pads, and it does the trick for a lot less money than tube lights made specifically for the job. Since it is made from a soft material, there is no chance of harming your instruments.
I have a slightly bigger mini cast iron pan and I use it when I make bulk pancakes so they’re all uniform sizes. Cook one side in the cast iron and the other on my skillet
A day in the life of Miranda The Grinch... "4:00, wallow in hiker stink. 4:30, stare into the Osprey Pack. 5:00, solve trail hunger, tell no one. 5:30, jazzercize; 6:30, dinner cooked in collapsible kettle, can’t cancel that again. 7:00, wrestle with my self-inflating mat. I’m booked..."
I love my tiny skillet! I use it all the time at home, to toast small quantities of spices/seeds/nuts. I probably use it 4x per week. Also good for making garlic butter, tiny cookies, eggs, etc.
For dog poop on day hikes, my bag dispenser has a clip on the side and you can hang the poop from it by clipping the bag between the poop and the knot (I've managed to get up to 3 bags on one clip when needed). Earth Rated I think is the company that makes mine but they're probably not the only ones with this design. Spread the word! No one should have to choose between holding a poop bag in your hand or leaving it on the trail. Both are gross and annoying.
Miranda, great and informative video, thanks! Question fav race and class in D&D? Also how does Nala always crash your videos but I never see the kitteh jump up on the table? Keep up the great work!
Pretty sure Lodge developed these mini skillets as an advertising gimmick ages ago. I doubt that it has an actual use, but I do remember my grandfather using his as an ashtray
Thanks for another wonderful video. I always look forward to new ones, and often watch old ones for a 2nd or 3th time. We are gonna miss Nala a lot. I hope you are doing well and taking your time to heal from her passing!!! I know i'm not the only fan who whishes you lots of love!
Thanks for all of the cool Christmas gift ideas Miranda!! (Shared on our Carson REI Alumni FB page!!) I’m going try to hit the REI sale too!! Oh and LOL regarding the small frying pan!! 😆🍳🎄🥾🏕🏔🚵♀️ So great seeing Nala too… 💗🕊💗
So I am looking into getting a new flashlight for hiking and backpacking. Because I lost my headlamp not sure how that happened. 🤔 Do have any suggestions on type of Flashlights too look for? I’ve been reading about rechargeable flashlights do they work good?
I just found out that through a friend, I have access to a really nice freeze dryer! He’s into it as a hobby but I plan to pay him for his time and resources. If I can engineer freeze dried meals that rival my favorite brads I will be absolutely ecstatic. Look out pinnacle foods lol
If you have a dog and she poops in the woods on the trail, flick it with a stick off the trail, will be gone in days in majority of environments. I hate you if you leave poop bags behind near trail.
I have an Outdoor Research Gortex ear flap hat that I Freaking love. For some inconceivable reason, they discontinued it. I might cry when mine wears out.
I'm glad you hate the holidays, too! I think gift giving is so dumb. :) Also, I can vouch for that Sea to Summit collapsible cup - it doesn't burn your hands (although it isn't the easiest thing to collapse).
😍 my sea to summit kettle!!! So great with a group boiling more water or other stuff. And DEFINITELY buying that mini cast iron skillet because why not. When not in use this Christmas going to hang it on the tree too.
Best gift I ever bought at REI is the National Park Pass for my son & girlfriend....they also say its the best gift they ever got!
( technically more then $50 but less then $50 per recipient!
A gift that keeps on giving! Such a good idea, Amy. Thanks for sharing!
I did not know you could buy those at REI...
Did you know that if you are over 65 you can buy a lifetime pass for $80? Pretty cool
Awww, seeing Nala being her adorable self brought a tear to my eye. Sending lots of love your way! Hope you can look back at all the footage you have of your adventure pup with a smile
What a beautiful message. I was shocked myself when I heard the news and can only imagine what she's going through.
Tons of love for Nala to chase squirrels, go on hikes, and keep an eye on you from doggie heaven.
Nala is gone? I didn’t read or hear that anywhere. So sad.
Ah, saw it on Instagram.
😥
Just don't gift the mini skillet and elastic belt to the same person, they might take it the wrong way 😂
Ha! So true 🤣
are the pockets on the beverage vest usable? i want to carry my nano skillet in it.
Only the one on the back.
Miranda is a DND nerd too?! As if I couldn’t love her more! Other gift ideas:
Nalgene gift set with water bottle, sticker, splashguard, and Nuun tabs
Chipper sit mat!
Delta bowl with lid
SPORK
Kula cloth
Super nice wool hiking socks, socks are the best
A hammock
Camping string lights
A book! REI has a great selection of books, I’d highly recommend The Appalachian Trail: Backcountry Shelters, Lean-Tos, and Huts. It’s got beautiful photography and is also very informative, and would be a great gift for someone getting into the AT or someone who has already completed a thruhike!
Love the Nalgene bundle idea!
The greatest gift to get for the holidays? More Miranda videos! Thanks for these, they keep me motivated to get out and use my gear. Happy Holidays to you and the entire REI crew!
Aww! We're so happy to hear that. Happy Holidays to you, Melissa. All the best! ❤️👋
Oh god. So glad I watched till the end to hear that pineapple express comment.
The mini Lodge cast iron skillet is a great spoon rest! Last year I gave Luci solar lights as gifts.
The solar lights are great gifts!
Sending you lots of love with the loss of Nala! I know that all of the love from all of your subscribers combined isn't enough to fill the void of loosing a best friend 💔
I went to buy the Sea to Summit X-Pot Kettle... and REI doesn't carry it anymore! :( How could they remove Miranda's favorite piece of gear?
I’m like you, shopping for the holiday gift gets me in a foul mood. However, it pays off at the end. You forgot the pee cloth?? I’m getting the kettle. Thx for the tips

Mic up the D&D beanies and gain +3 speech craft.

Fair point! Not to worry, we've got you covered for all your sock needs too. 🙌🧦
Socks? Really? I grew up getting to open one present on x-mas eve. Always…socks. Socks as a gift are right up there with a vacuum or something… socks are cooler now, but still they are socks.

2, miniature cast-iron is as spoon rest.
3, I have never drink slow enough to need a can cosy, though REI has the best looking ones.
Thanks for watching, Philip! We hope Miranda's guide sparked some ideas for your own gift giving this year. 👍🎁

Seconded.
I will never stop gifting Pocket Bellows from Epiphany Outdoor Gear to anyone I know who even thinks about trying to burn wood.
The LED dog collar is fantastic! In addition to being a lifesaver with your pouch at night, it also makes a great gift for woodwind players. I use it to check for leaky pads, and it does the trick for a lot less money than tube lights made specifically for the job. Fresh dog poop in a bag is a great source to warm up you lunch. Just a FYI.. ;)
😃
You're on the list! 🙌
I have a slightly bigger mini cast iron pan and I use it when I make bulk pancakes so they’re all uniform sizes.
Cook one side in the cast iron and the other on my skillet
Thank you for all the great gift ideas! Also, thank you for all of your wonderful videos you have made - they are always so much fun to watch!
We hope you found it helpful! Thanks for tuning in, we appreciate you! 👋❤️

Awesome to hear! 🙌😀
Bataan is pronounced Butta-Uhn. Its a Town in the Philippines where Cotopaxi makes their Del Dia line.
Aww Nala…🤍
I forget if just egg needs to be refrigerated but you could make a vegan egg that way in that little pan 😋
I love Just Egg and use a tiny skillet at home to make McSandwiches :)
I believe REI should sell the Miranda Cook Kit. It is an awesome cooking system.

miranda loves D&D? yasssssss!! 🤓🙌🏼
Miranda, great and informative video, thanks!
Question fav race and class in D&D?
Also how does Nala always crash your videos but I never see the kitteh jump up on the table?
Keep up the great work!
I came here to make sure this important D&D question was asked.
Pretty sure Lodge developed these mini skillets as an advertising gimmick ages ago. I doubt that it has an actual use, but I do remember my grandfather using his as an ashtray
One of the best gifts that I ever received is a 1950s military lensatic compass. That thing is indestructible.
I use my Cotopaxi fanny pack all the time. Rollerskiing, cross country skiing, running, biking.
All of our love goes to Nala. It's so hard letting a dog go... ❤
Out of everyone, I wouldn't have thought Miranda would be bah humbug about the holidays, lol
Oh I was sure you’d mention the Kula cloth!
Tons of ideas, but I would say add a Buff...many uses, and everyone needs one.
Thanks for another wonderful video. I always look forward to new ones, and often watch old ones for a 2nd or 3th time. We are gonna miss Nala a lot. I hope you are doing well and taking your time to heal from her passing!!! I know i'm not the only fan who whishes you lots of love!
Mini skillet would be good for melted butter for popcorn.
Great idea! 😄
Seeing Nala at the end 😭
That’s a Charlie Brown hat!
Dog poop bag holder should be able to strap onto dog to carry. Just sayin’ :)
I totally agree.
RIP sweet Nala! We love you!
Awww. I have the mini frying pan. I love the little guy. Fry one egg. Bake one chocolate chip cookie. Mini Shepherds pie.....🥰
Those sound like some great uses for it! Thanks for sharing. 😄
You can make fry bread on the little pan! Yum!
That sounds delicious.
"do i still look like i should be in a wes anderson movie" lol
I was at a restaurant once that served individual corn breads in those mini skillets.
Yum! 😊
Very helpful but would add a Sawyer water filter….You can never have too many!!!
Good thinking! Thanks for watching, Dustin. 👋
Or a katadyn befree!
Oh man. Tell me that Miranda plays dnd. Backpacking and dnd don't seem to have a high crossover rate.
I have definitely played “theater of the mind” version around a campfire on a camping trip. It was amazing
I feel like Miranda would be such a druid or ranger in D&D 🌿🍂🏹
Love me some DnD!!
👍👍👍☺️☺️
🙌😀
Nala's legacy lives on in these videos ❤️
Thanks for all of the cool Christmas gift ideas Miranda!! (Shared on our Carson REI Alumni FB page!!) I’m going try to hit the REI sale too!! Oh and LOL regarding the small frying pan!! 😆🍳🎄🥾🏕🏔🚵♀️ So great seeing Nala too… 💗🕊💗
Bataan is pronounced like “ba-tah-ahn” kinda like how you would say “butter on” haha
So I am looking into getting a new flashlight for hiking and backpacking. Because I lost my headlamp not sure how that happened. 🤔

REI, what happened to the Farlands ear flap hat!!! 😭😭😭
Surprised Miranda didn't include a beloved SPORK! Way under $50, and so useful 😁
Yes! Titanium sporks are the best! I carry mine in my lunch every day and on the trail.
Can you cook in the sea to summit silicone pot? Like mashed potatoes, Ramen, etc. Or just for boiling water?
Combining backpacking with D&D? Yasss!
If you have a dog and she poops in the woods on the trail, flick it with a stick off the trail, will be gone in days in majority of environments. I hate you if you leave poop bags behind near trail.
An ultra mini air pump is a great gift for under $30.
Great idea!
Love you, Nala 💛
Yessss! New Miranda video!!!
Woohoo! 🙌
Miranda what about making a cookie in the tiny cast iron pan? Or a vegan egg?
Ruffwear dog poop hauler....here I come!
What edition do you play? We play old school "satanic panic" 1e.
A dog should have to carry its own poop bag. Strap that doggie up!
Impossible to eat a cookie without egg in it. #VEGANFAIL
Miranda being into dnd is awesome!
Pocket bellows are cheap, super useful, and make a good stocking stuffer.
I usually just buy myself the stuff I want lol. That way I'm not disappointed. If only I could find a Copper Spur UL2
You know what you like! Nothin' wrong with that. 😉
Oh, caught you in the wild!
Merry Christmas! 🎄😉
I got a Cotopaxi Fanny pack for my birthday and have used almost everyday since then
Aren't they great?! 😄
Whoooo!!!
I have an Outdoor Research Gortex ear flap hat that I Freaking love.
For some inconceivable reason, they discontinued it.
I might cry when mine wears out.
Make a tiny campsite???
Great Video‼️
The led dog collar also doubles as a light Frisbee at night.
Thanks for sharing‼️
I'm glad you hate the holidays, too! I think gift giving is so dumb. :) Also, I can vouch for that Sea to Summit collapsible cup - it doesn't burn your hands (although it isn't the easiest thing to collapse).
And, I really like my Streamlight MicroStream, it’s a 250 lumen USB rechargeable flashlight that’s about $30
I have had the same Leatherman Squirt Ps4 on my key chain since 2010. It has gotten me out trouble a few times and been a hero to many. Must have!!!
😍 my sea to summit kettle!!! So great with a group boiling more water or other stuff. And DEFINITELY buying that mini cast iron skillet because why not. When not in use this Christmas going to hang it on the tree too.
I've said it before and will a multitude more times. REI is fantastic for the outdoor enthusiast, and, The Whole World Loves Miranda!
Who are those doggie day-hikers that come back for their pooch's poop on the side of the trail? Less common than bigfoot.
I'm sad the co-op hat isn't available (on a gift guide). Any recommendations for similar hats?
Bataan pack - in case your hike becomes a Death March. :o
The skillet is for beaning leprechauns on the head.
Miss you Miranda. I hope you’re doing ok. ❤️💪🏽
Any content from you makes me laugh and smile. Thanks and happy holidays to you too!
You’re not the only one on the whole gift giving thing Miranda. It’s hard for me too.
Consecutive Miranda Videos without a burp: 0
Nala ❤️
These are all amazing gifts!! The pack out back is genius!! Seriously didn’t know that existed
Can you make sure all of my family see this?!!
😄 It's a handy little list, eh?!
Pineapple Express is about a train, right? lol
I love Miranda :D-)-< and I knew she played DnD
🤗♥️🎄
It's Miranda, the editing, and the bloopers/casual moments... Gold Jerry gold!
Thanks for watching! We're glad you're loving the content. 😄
