Trust me, when it comes to a beautiful fish like that most people will be thinking about getting it on camera and not really caring about how the fish feels about it. Yeah, we should respect the fish and make sure that they aren't harmed but its even better if the fish leaves without a few scales and we leave with some awesome footage. Good job Austin, thanks for posting this vid!!!

love it great vid. I especially love the way you handle your fish. couple good shots and then back quickly. unlike some people who handle, handle, handle the fish for pics until its almost dead. then try to revive it, and hope it lives.

Dude anyone that has fished that area knows what creek! Thanks a ton for not mentioning the name! Only qualm is thats a low O2/warm creek and looks like late summer early fall and boy they don't need anymore stress then pulling the hook and maybe a pic. Especially moving into the spawning season. Get a go pro:) Awesome!!!

Aww cmon man! Get out in the winter. I understand it gets cold in New York state (i think, coming from a 14 year old kid from St. Louis who has been flyfishing since he was 7 :D) but its some of the best fishing there is when its cold. You know, when your hand is blue and you can't tie on a size 20 midge cause you cant see it in your shaking, non feeling hands. But seriously, it is great fishing cause the trout don't get cold, just you. Happy fishing!

brown trout have earned the reputation of being one of the smartest and most difficult fish to catch. brown trout are nocturnal and your best chance of catching one is at dusk or dark, but be ready for a tug-of-war. rainbow trout, on the other hand, will jump three to four times the length of their body over the surface of the water in an attempt to throw the hook. brown trout prefer to stay under the water and tug out the fight.

I completely agree with you on the fish handling, you couldn't be more right, but for montana, on a stream thats two/three feet wide, I would say that a 23" brown isn't to shabby, and is indeed a whale.

I know what you mean about the fish not fighting hard. I started fishing in my creek for little rainbows (5-10 in) and when I started you could catch about 60 a day and they would just swim right up to you. I guess they just not used to angling pressure.

I see the trout was ready to breed :) i absolutely LOVE breeding trouts :D have a sea trout rive nearby in norway, and i love breeding FOR the trouts. I help the fish in the monutains nearby to breed by digging down the eggs in a good place for them :) Great fish! From fisherman in norway ;)
