Next video I'm expecting some talk about footwork in the clean and snatch. More specifically where the feet should be during the setup, perhaps in relation to the barbell???
Learning the clean from the top down has helped me IMMENSELY! Trying to learn the clean the way Rip teaches it was confusing and without coaching has been pretty difficult, but in your video "How to clean: What coaches aren't sharing" you break the movement down into its individual parts which you can drill and then combine. It makes so much more sense now and I've been making progress with my mobility and technique. Thanks Coach Giraffe!
I spent about a decade powerlifting before I made the switch to weightlifting and have a hard time NOT keeping my shins vertical during squats. I'm hamstring dominate as a result (peach booty from side, chicken legs from the front 😣). Your "equal parts hips and knees" will definitely help me keep my quads activated during the lifts.
front squats with pause at the bottom ( 3, 5, 10 secs) got me from power snatching and power cleaning, to proper snatches in less than 3 weeks, it's baffling how your body adapts to what you demand from it.
I only did Pause ATG for nearly a year after watching Clarence0... oof wish my gains came as easy they did that year. Just make sure to really warmup up bc the stimulus is crazy, longer rest than usual would help too!
Zack, thank you so much yor this type of content. There are so many little things that other coaches don't say about weightlifting that make a huge difference and you said it in a way that it is easy to understand.
I'm 63 5'8" 160 lbs. Working out with a one inch curl bar & have two one inch 50 lb plates so 115 lbs total weight with clips...my max single rep so far is 135 lbs. I'm doing this off a sun deck with a slight slope. You have some very helpful tips I am about to implement tonight once it's cooler out & im hoping for a single with 145 lbs .. Thnx....
i was just watching a video of yours on speed under the bar from 2018 ( i power snatch more than i snatch), and then you hit me with this one. Giraffe works for cia confermd.
Can someone explain how it’s even possible to power clean more than full clean in the first place? Power clean means you have to pull higher right? Full clean I have the luxury of catching it at the bottom so I don’t have to pull as high? Doesn’t that mean I can go heavier for full clean
I finally hit 185 lbs in the clean and jerk yesterday. Am i considered an oly lifter now? Or do I need to hit that coveted 100 kg to be considered an oly lifter?
So i'm wondering if it's an error - my full clean technique is just no foot clean, I'm not moving my feet anywhere ( jumping i mean ). Is it bad or can I still train like that. I found really hard to fully extend on my lift and then drop down without jumping backwards or forwards.
It isn’t. If you look at a lot of Chinese lifters and even Klokov to an extent they really just slightly shuffle their feet outwards or barely move them at all. Not saying that means everyone should copy them but it definitely isn’t an error for the average individual either. As long as you can extend and catch low, it’s fine.
I thought, knees forward is a No-Go? Especially since it racks ur knee, if u Go further than ur toes?? I am a beginner at age 32, only looking for advice
Ok So what if you Catch powers cleans high and more forward in the quads, but you have a good front squat/tech. but can't find that position when trying to clean. ?

OK This has to be said, because zack contiously gets this wrong. Ankle flexion is toes down, ankle extension is toes up, dorsiflexion is toes up, plantarflexion is toes down. It confused me for ages until I realised he was getting it wrong.

Feet on bar too

I have a hard time getting into the bottom of a full clean, but I have an even harder time taking the 3rd hit of the DMT pipe

Already lost in hyperspace at that point

As a fellow giraffe, I could Powerclean 95kg before I could Frontsquat 90kg
How?? When you powerclean don't you have to Also front squat the Weight??
@@diogofarinha295 well, that's the full clean, in the power clean you catch it already standing up
Bruh tf i front squatted 170 kg i could barely power clean 115 kg now im not training it im pow cleaning 100 kg
@@Kus519 matter of leverages. Long lifters tend to have crazy strong pulls but rather weak squats

I really needed this video lol perfect timing, thanks Zack!
This video alone gave me the POWER to clean my room 🧹

I came here to learn how to clean my power drill.
What the hell.
that wrist tip ROCKSSS!!!
you're not addressing the most important thing: why clean it when you can power clean it?
Cuz cleans are pretty and front squat depth gets the gurlz
Because once you get better at the clean you can hit bigger PRs

This is actually very insightful. Can’t wait to try it in my 5am workout lol
This is really great stuff, thank you Zack
Sweet training drills Zack
gr8 vid Zack as always - Thank you
I expected this to be you sweeping the gym, like Clarence did
Actually loved this thanks coach
Makes sense. Basically called me out🤧😂
Thanks. This will help with the barbell crashing on me too I reckon. I drop my elbows too quickly
Zack's content is more valuable than the amounts wep it on the bar

That outro music 👌🏻
I think you need some more reps of stick into rack, next progression is 15lbs training barbell into rack.
I don’t understand...

You should full more than you power right? My power on both lifts is about 80% of my 1RM

I have hesitation to drop under the bar. Slightly above parallel is my lowest catch position.
Me too, with heavy weight I can’t seem to commit to getting deep under the bar

Why I lift more in full snatch than blocks?
