It feels weird. I've been in the HK fandom since 2018, so I've lived through the whole wait. However, having had personal experience with game development, I can tell you that making ANY game, let alone one of the most highly anticipated sequels to one of the biggest indie games ever, is a herculean task. With that in mind, I've never felt that Team Cherry is taking "too long" to finish the game (whatever that means), or found the "Silksong When" memes funny. I'm just happy that HK is even getting a sequel to begin with, and am excited to play it when it's ready! I'm sure it'll be worth the long wait in the end.
@SilksongWeb A lot of people seem to have forgotten the Unity Runtime Fee situation. I wouldn't be surprised in the slightest if that threw a wrench in Team Cherry's plans that they're keeping on the down low to not worry fans. And that would be on top of problems like difficult glitches to fix, custom artwork to create, fine tuning the game's balance, etc. All of that takes a lot of time and effort to deal with.
I think most people are actually fine with the wait, the problem is the complete radio silence from them. If they just put *some* effort communicating the fanbase wouldn't have gone insane
@@orions2908 Any game developer can tell you why they do this: it's to avoid showing content that may not make it into the final release build of the game. Team Cherry's plans are constantly in flux, and there's no doubt they experimented with tons of mechanics, areas, enemies, etc., and a lot of that stuff is gonna end up on the cutting room floor before they get to stuff they wanna keep. They don't want players seeing those kinds of things in trailers, as it may lead to the mistaken belief that it's guaranteed to be there when it's done. Now, you can make an argument that they could have said something when the whole Unity debacle was going down to let fans know what their plans were to address it, but that's assuming they even had a plan to begin with. And besides, there are very occasional words from beta testers that confirm in the HK Discord that the game is still in active development.

Look at deltarune, the developer consistently updates us on how the game is coming along, but very rarely shows any actual content, as it would just spoil the experience whenever it releases. And that is miles better than... well... nothing, which is all we seem to get from team cherry

I think they might skip the February release date, simply because Monster Hunter Wilds is releasing near the end of that month. When they released Hollow Knight, it had to compete with the LAUNCH OF THE NINTENDO SWITCH, without even releasing on the console. Then again, they could've just not learned from their mistakes, or they might release anyway because they know they aren't exactly an obscure indie title anymore.

It’s possible but Silksong doesn’t have any exclusivity with Nintendo, so I don’t think so. As Matthew Griffin said, Team Cherry’s Twitter or UA-cam channel
Heres the thing, the Xbox Games pass expires around June or July, i can't exactly remember. But if they dont release it before then, they have false advertised since it was specifically said that if you buy the game pass, you will get Silksong on Xbox along with other games. If they dont release it by then, they have essentially cooked so hard that they have burnt the food to ash.
Also Mathew Griffin said they will give more information closer to release and they confirmed it's real not to long ago with almost a year of nothing and it's close to February which is known for team cherry for being heavy news or release month or smth like that

I wouldn't recommend having such high expectations just because of how long the development took. It's only gonna disappoint you in the end. That being said, I tend to appreciate a lot of things despite their flaws, and I'm gonna love Silksong just the same, especially if it's anything remotely like Hollow Knight :>

They've basically completely blown it with marketing over the past few years, I know they don't want to spoil everything thats in the game but the literal zero communication at ALL about ANYTHING is extremely frustrating, if they were smart they'd do SOMETHING for the game awards
Yeah they should communicate more with us but there’s not much to say, we already know a lot about the game and they are still working on it
@SilksongWeb a devlog of some sort would've been appreciated, even if the entries were as vague as "fixed some bugs this month" or "finished an area", or some information on why exactly the game has been delayed twice now

Heres the thing, the Xbox Games pass expires around June or July, i can't exactly remember. But if they dont release it before then, they have false advertised since it was specifically said that if you buy the game pass, you will get Silksong on Xbox along with other games.
If they dont release it by then, they have essentially cooked so hard that they have burnt the food to ash.
You will get it on Game Pass day one when It comes out

I think that the devs are doing their best to make the game unique and fullfilled with content, theres no point to launch a game unfinshed or like with missing features, or like a giant empty map, like hollow knight is cool for what it is, and nobody wants like "the same" people wants new, like features and mechanics
Like the knight is powerfull because raw fucking strenght (watch P5 speedruns to see it)the hornet i think will use the scenario and other things to outsmart the enemies

I wouldn't recommend having such high expectations just because of how long the development took. It's only gonna disappoint you in the end.
That being said, I tend to appreciate a lot of things despite their flaws, and I'm gonna love Silksong just the same, especially if it's anything remotely like Hollow Knight :>
