Any advantage to purchasing the R-N1000A over the R-N800A? Is the HDMI(arc) worth it? I assume you can still use it for TV audio via optical and adjust for any delays? I see both the 800 and 1000 have the same DAC.
Been looking for something to replace my Cambridge Audio Azur 740A after it died to power my DALI Ikon 6 MKii's for a while now. Love all the added functionality this unit has.
So I got one, and I got it because I was replacing another streaming amplifier which I don't care for anyway I've got a question about it. I noticed with mine it works perfectly and there's no problems with it but I noticed that The top panel of the amp looks flat and in all the pictures of the amp it looks flat and in person mine looks absolutely flat, however if I rub my hand across the top of it in the middle there is a noticeable hump that I can feel. I know that's an odd thing to worry about but I was just curious if you have noticed this with the unit you have/ had? Like I said I want to state that the unit itself functions and performs exactly like it should and sounds brilliant far better than the amplifier it replaced.
I plan on purchasing this receiver and use it with my DAC (GustardR26) should i always run the receiver in pure direct mode or will that take away anything the DAC is doing to enhance the overall quality of sound?
It's a great match for the r3s. I own the rn-803 which is basically the predecessor to the rn-800 paired with q-350s. I used to sell audio and I've even had the amp running r7's at one point. Just always use pure direct mode.
@LlamaFantasy I am about to purchase this receiver, I will also be using the Gustard R26 DAC. Is it still necessary to run this receiver in pure direct mode wile using it with a DAC?
@rickyhill101 Yes I would suggest you do. The only benefit of not using pure direct is the ypao sound correction as pure direct cancels this out. Depending on your environment if you physically cannot get proper speaker placement ypao may be an advantage for you. In my experience though having a more direct signal path is more beneficial.
Your voice is so pleasurable to listen to!
How does it sound compared to the yamaha rn600a?
Yamaha r-n1000a has the same amp, so it shouldn't sound noticeable better

Fantastic video - keep up the good work! On another note, where can I get the lovely light cube you have? 😊
I just ordered this from Crutchfield...thanks for this video.
Glad you enjoyed the video; next time give us a shot when you order.

what would sound better with this - wharfdale evo or b & w 606s2 s?
i have the lumina 2 would this be a good match sir just your opinion of course thanks?
Although I haven't heard them together I think they would be a great starting point for the Lumina II
Do you know if the amp works good for 4 ohm speakers ?
It is adjusted for 8 ohm by default, but in the settings you can choose 4 ohm. In the manual you can find instruction how to do that.
Does this not support DLNA?
Very informative video! Would be great if you could do a video on the RN2000a can wait to hear what you have to say!
Thank you!
Would you recommend it for KEF R3 Meta?

@@LlamaFantasy thanks. In the end I went for Lyngdorf TDAI-1120. Very clean sound with great room correction.
