My biggest complaint with the movies are that they don't remix hardly ANY of the music. This franchise's music is iconic and they opted for generic background music. It's a real missed opportunity. But still, I do adore the series

i would really love to see a "remake" of sonic 06's history in a future film because there is a lot of pottential in it and it could introduce some characters like silver or give a new vilain like mephiles so there is no need to be scared because jim Carrey is retiring

That's literally NEVER going to happen. However, among the many things once could do to adapt 06 in live action would be :
- Change Soleanna to real life Venice, with Lake Garda standing in for Kingdom Valley and the Dolomites for White Acropolis
- Change Elise (or Elisa, since it's Italy) from princess to just a rich girl whose dad was a scientist or entrepeuner of some sort.
- Remove anything that resembles interspecies romance.
- Get some actual Italian actors for authenticity, much like they did for The Tourist.
- Fix Sonic's and Silver's stories.
But then again, it's never gonna happen.
The sonic cinematic universe will go something like this.
The Chaotix will star in their own detective story, while Silver and Blaze head up a time travel psychological thriller in the same vein as Inception. Next will be a R-rated gore feast movie featuring Shadow as the protagonist. And last but not least, Big the Cat will Headline an emotional drama about the value and necessity of friendship, and the extremes he will resort to in service to that friendship. That last one will be a real oscar bait film, this generation's Citizen Kane if you will.

Maybe it's partially because the films were my first real introduction to Sonic as a whole, and because I'm just a sucker for found family tropes, but I absolutely LOVE the human characters in the cinematic universe. Tom & Maddie really are the perfect parents for Sonic and now Tails and Knuckles as well; they're a healthy couple, but they're no scaredy cats and have similar attitudes as Sonic. (like when they see Robotnik with all his weapons in the first movie and the first thing they do is insult him 😂) These characters ARE young, seriously so young for all they go through, and I'm glad Paramount went with giving them all a family. It's so heartwarming to me. ♥️
A cool fact I heard about Jeff Fowler is that he actually help with Shadow The Hedgehog CGI cutscenes so really no wonder why he chose to write Shadow for the 3rd film. I'm definitely glad Shadow is next for him cuz like Sonic, Tails n Knuxs after what happened in the Meta era, Shadow definitely deserve better and I have no doubt Jeff will deliver just like what he has done with Knuxs. Still for the 3rd film, I hope Jeff improves more on Tails character arc and doesn't give Knuxs a Piccolo effect. I get the writers have to focus more on giving Shadow justice (Which I don't mind cuz i love him) at the same time Tails n Knuxs are important characters too and deserves to have a role that is vital for the 3rd film's plot, instead of what Sega/Sonic Team have done by letting them be irrelevant throughout the whole series.
Seeing a protagnist growing into their powers and learning how to control them is more interesting than having them just be masters of them right out of the gate and in Sonic's case it helps to make him vulnerable. I know we're used to a Sonic who's always in control of the situation no matter what, but the last decade of Sonic games have shown why that can run stale if you don't have a really good writer involved. People loved Shadow because he could give a full powered Sonic a run for his money with ease and it required Sonic to step up his game to get on his level.
And this movie has a Sonic that has gotten complaicent and cocky since robotnik's gone. So he's only stopping armed thugs who are'nt a threat to him and knows he can beat. So the fact that he can't outfight Knuckles makes sense he's still green and needs to take the time to train himself with his powers so he can stand up to a real threat like that and Knuckles can help him with that now. And even in their final fight you can see Sonic really starting to adapt and use his speed to great effect to the point where I truly believe if their fight had continued he would've squeaked out a win. Seeing Sonic conquering his fear of the water in order to get to the temple would not have been satsfying if we knew he could do it from the start. Thus robbing newcomers of a real tense scene and the pay off that comes when he makes it.

Hes confident and in control in that game mainly because hes lives by his own principles of living free and enjoying the present moment while you have it. Merlina's goal of creating a world that never dies clashed with his own views because Sonic believes such a world would make life stagnated and meaningless.
That right there gave sonic so much depth to his confident personality than just a wisecracking snobass.

Yes, he was confident, but he was inspiring and likable and was actually going for the ride, enjoying every bit of it. And he showed more emotions other than being smug 24/7. He chose to help a kid's village rather than take Nimue's test, which was actually her real test.
Movie Sonic can be too much of a hyperactive kid at times, but unlike Colors Era Sonic, his heart is in the right place and is actually likable.
I do like how knuckles can be a little bit goofy at times but not to goofy like how dumb sega thinks but let’s keep knuckles being a little bit goofy

In the second movie, he was immature and self assuring. He really is a hyperactive kid. But as Eggman returns with Knuckles and he makes a friend with Tails, he is forced to learn and develop. He still is a bit of a kid, but hopefully the third movie will have him mature a bit more.
For the 3rd movie I think it would be perfect to keep important plot points from SA2 about Gerald's knowledge on the Emeralds. It would tie up Shadow's origins and tease Chaos is in the universe.
Seeing Perfect Chaos on the big screen would be dope.
The director said in an interview with polygon that the 3rd is gonna have a much more serious tone. So I’m hoping they at least include Gerald Robotnik and Maria

I thought the Movie Universe was setting up Stone to replace Eggman. Snively had a similar sidekick role with him having moments where he was serving as the main villain instead of Robotnik/Eggman.
This movie made me a Movie Sonic Fan.

Glad you brought up Metal Sonic; here's my take on how they should handle him (feel free to roast me if this is terrible, terrible cringe).
Since Fowler & Friends are adapting Sonic non-linearly, let's combine Metal Sonic... with Emerl. You know, from Sonic Battle. Visually looks like an unpainted Metal Sonic (think Mecha Sonic from the second Genesis game) but is named Emerl or something else. Over the course of three films, Metal Sonic is in the background/assisting Team Sonic with taking down whatever villain is on the table, and he is learning how to speak and fight from them. Meanwhile, he's watching as Sonic struggles to grow mentally and emotionally. At key moments, he's taking in the wrong lessons.
By the middle of the next trilogy, the Gizoid tech in him is revealed, and near the end of the third film, hes corrupted or submits to the existential dread in him. When Team Sonic goes to defeat him, they hear him parrot every terrible thing they've said back to them, which solidifies this as their failure.
Just my thought. It's a bit dark (and truthfully may be cringe) but I think this is the best way of getting as much mileage out of Metal Sonic as possible.
I saw in another breakdown video, the writing on the owl statue is actually babalonean symbols. So nice Easter egg or potential hint for a future movie. Either way I find it cool.
This video is amazing nick and I hope that will make sonic movie 3 even better and I hope that they will find a voice actor that will fit shadow like idris elba did for knuckles and to see jim carrrey as dr.robotnik one more time in the third movie will make my heart soar! ✌💙🦊🦔🌟

Heres the thing 9:23 They could easily turn Agent Stone into a very Starline-esque character as they have very similar beginnings starting off as a guy who worshipped the very ground that Eggman walked on. Its possible to have Stone become his own villain taking great inspiration from who he admired and be better than him just like Starline in the comics

i’m gonna be honest, i wouldn’t be surprised if the 3rd movie is the last one at least for a while. Not only is Jim carrey rumored to not come back but also Jeff Fowler so if they do come back for a 3rd I could definitely see it ending there. But honestly that’s fine, this trilogy would (or could since movie 3 hasn’t come out yet lol) still be a huge success. They could wrap it up nicely, ending this trilogy on a high note and something sonic fans and movie fans won’t forget. I say this partially because I think after 4+ movies general audiences might not be interested anymore and the quality could decrease which i don’t wanna see happen to this franchise. As much as I love them I just don’t think silver the hedgehog or even metal sonic could put as many butts in seats as shadow so they may be preparing to peak with him. But who’s to say a half a decade later or so we get a new sonic movie that does something entirely new. Personally, i’d love to see a sonic movie akin to something like spider verse i think the designs and motions of these characters would be amazing to see in a creatively fully animated movie. Don’t take this as i want the movies to end cuz i love them i’m just saying this could be a possibility.
Jeff Fowler has said he would love to come back for a third one, just that Paramount hasn't made him an offer yet. And they would be crazy not to try and bring Jeff back. He obviously loves the franchise and has ideas of what to do with the story. They should make him a Kevin Feige type, make him oversee all the spin-off shows (give Knuckles and Tails a limited series each) and continue with the main films. And if he wants to stop directing Sonic to try his hand at something else, he can stay as a producer while directing other stuff.

I think Sonic will be perfect character to convince Shadow to turn to the side of good. Why? I don't know😐... Well they both lost there love ones to a group of people who wants to capture them.
I don't really know what I want to think about a Sonic Cinematic Universe, since most of the in-game character spotlight is on the Sonic, Tails, Knuckles and Eggman. Once you've done works about them, you're stuck with doing a Big the Cat movie or something like that (don't get me wrong, I love Big as much as the next guy; it's just to get a point across). I would however like to see a series focusing on Longclaw as well as the other Owls and their fight against the Echidnas.
Something I only realised after getting back from the film though was that the Master Emerald got broken, yet no big drips were spotted nearby. This makes me wonder about how they are going to implement Chaos, if at all.
I actually stayed to the bitter end of the film in hope of another post-credits scene. And I didn't get any...
I don't think they'll use Chaos, Adventure 1 had a very forgettable story with no lasting impact on the characters or series. The same can be said for Unleashed.
I know side characters like Tikal and Chip have their fans, but they only existed for their one game and were never seen or mentioned again.
There's always a slim chance it could happen though. After seeing Sonic 2 I would trust this director to do it right.

Sonic Adventure's Story had a lasting impact that had to be abandoned in the aftermath of Chronicles because of Ken Penders. The entire reason Pachacamac needed the Chaos Emeralds was because of the Nocturnus Clan & their Gizoids which Sonic Battle & Chronicles added. As for Chaos they could do what was done in the comics where he was sealed inside a black rock instead of the Master Emerald.
Well I think Chaos is still on the table in the Labrynth zone temple mural you can see perfect chaos.

My thought on Sonic ending is after they defeated their universe's Thanos equivalent it's should be open-ended where they continue their adventures and fight with eggman. Like it's endless story.
Ps. The third movie should be the closure of Earth act so in next phase or sequel/spin-off they don't worry about Tom or Other human characters.
The biggest way they dropped the ball in the movies is not using more game music,

I’m hoping they listen to us (the fans) again and again for each movie in this cinematic universe and I’m personally hoping to see their adaptations on “heroes”, “colours” and “unleashed”.
Not gonna happen. Ever. Heroes is too convoluted yet too dry of a plot to be adapted. Unleashed just would not make any sense within our own Earth, and would be pretty much a retread of the first movie. Colors BLEARGH is cringe and needs to be erased, I don't need to be hammered with cringe "jokes" for almost 2 hours.

The Babylonians were kiiiiinda in it! The three humanoids that appear when Knuckles meets Eggman are dressed like them, but it's hard to really see it since that scene is kinda dark and they don't get a ton of screentime. But there's a lot of Riders references so maybe we'll see them again!!!

Bruh, I don't see how can Metal Sonic carry entire franchise, he should be left for movie 4 as Eggmans backup in case he actually dies and end up getting permanently destroyed in movie 4. However, Nazo would make an excellent villain to carry a franchise, I know that he's fanmade but bringing him to silver screen would be awesome plus I have a cool idea on how to introduce him- as Chaos' evolved form, basically by merging those two Sonic can truly have his own version of Cell from DBZ

- Team Dark: Agents of G.U.N.
- Blaze and Silver

Still have them be all interconnected, but not mandatory watching to understand the movies. Just if you want to see these characters in action outside the movies.
We don't know what character may appear in future but this 4 character must appear in 3rd flim gerald, Maria, shadow and finalhazard/doom/metal Sonic. Along with other characters in sonic movie 2. With an SA2 adaptation story

I do hope and wish they adapt Blaze the Cat into the movie series. Not only is the concept of dimensional travel already established and the Multiverse implied, but she could also be a capable yet flawed and introverted female character that young girls or otherwise could relate to. A textbook example of a sheltered kid in need of meaningful relationships, raised to be laser focused on her life ahead rather than living in the moment. As being one myself, I can certainly sympathize. This would immediately make her kindred spirits with Sonic and even Knuckles. And, if the madlads at Paramount can pull it off well, Blaze's powers could be sourced from Iblis, the fragmented flame god responsible for Silver's wrecked future. Perhaps Blaze is the Iblis Trigger but like actually. Which not only ties in Silver as a character and bring this iconic duo together again, but could even right the wrongs of '06. Everything wrong with that game could be made right in this movie universe. It makes me giddy just thinking about it.

I’m planning on doing a full review soon on my channel for the movie too. I really like what the movies are setting up, but I wouldn’t call the possibilities “endless”. I have doubt that they’re ever going to adapt the broad strokes of SA1’s story given what happened to Knuckles’ tribe and the owls once having the master emerald. After all, we didn’t see a familiar red spirit or puddle of water come out of the master emerald when it broke at the end of the movie.
I think Sonic movies will be End at Sonic movie 3 because of the cost of CGI Character in live action is way higher than in Animated movies.
Just like the Sega console at dream cast with the last game sonic adventure 2.
Then after some year they can again revive sonic movie franchise when they get an significant amount of money.
I never played any Sonic games, but these movies probably made me into a fan.
These are some pretty cool ideas you’ve got here! In my personal opinion, movie Sonic and Robotnik are the BEST interpretations of the characters in terms of personalities(I haven’t quite made my assessment on Tails and Knuckles yet). I can’t believe I haven’t thought about the Chaotix for the Knuckles seres, though I think it’s quite likely that the seres will be a prequel, possibly detailing his adventures on Möbius and/or other planets in search of Sonic. Speaking of Knuckles, is no one else wondering what those masked humanoid creatures with him at the beginning of movie two were?
Starline not ready for the cinematic universe. He needs more experience and overtime in the IDWverse😂😂
No one wants that trashy furry version of Snively. He sucks and so does IDW Sonic.
I sort of believe the Knukles spin off will be using the masked tribe who try to kidnapd him and Rave the destroyer as they were set up by the movie comic, the chaotix there were only a cameo.
9:32 I believe the robo robotnik angle could work but with some changes
1- Eggman’s return isn’t by another version of himself from another dimension like robo robotnik, just a consciousness transfer after his last defeat (the panel you’ve shown is what I mean) Thinking 20 steps ahead & already planning his return
2- make Eggman CG like the rest of the sonic characters & Get Mike pollock to do the voice. Essentially take the game version, tune the design where needed & have the explanation be an android body.
No need to change live actors & money can be used on other big names or add on to the animation budget.

9:24 we need Dr.Finitevus in the 7th movie after the trilogy “if”
They can adapt Sonic unleashed for Sonic movie 4 where he can go and explore around the world and different places to expand the lore. and introduction of chip.
For 5th and last movie movie of Sonic cinematic universe they can adapt Sonic 06 story. Where they will fight a multiversal threat like Solaris and Mehphilis characters with the introduction of Silver and Blaze.
After this they can adapt a cartoon show with movie sonic characters. Just like what Disney and Marvel doing and other companies doing.
And then the Super Mario Bros movie came in and beat up the endless possibilities of a Sonic Cinematic Universe harder than the Dreamcast crashed and burned. Again.
I hope SEGA also could work closely with Paramount studios by helping them with budget or personality or characterization of character just like what Nintendo is doing with illumination studios. By working closely with them.

I disagree with the criticism of Sonic growing. You can actually see the difference between the two characters such as Sonic and Knuckles.
Sonic does all that you described, running away, making quips and stuff because that's who he is. Slightly immature, but most importantly, inexperienced. Sonic has only ever fought for real once with Eggman before his encounter with Knuckles. So it makes sense for Sonic to be rough and unpolished. If you compare Sonic to Knuckles, you see the difference that I believe the writers actually wanted. Knuckles is trained and experienced, being a complete threat. He doesn't go through the "Tom Holland" effect even when he switches sides.
So it works and makes sense for this universes character.
'06 story on the big screen would be incredible, the story is way too good (wihtout including all the Elise's stuff ofc)

And how the hell is Shadow's backstory and arc gonna fit with the tone of the movies? The only way I think this could work is with some sort of time skip ( y'know , with an older and more mature version of Sonic )

Your point about sonic seems fairly percular since the only time he really had to seriously struggle againts a threat he faced alone was againts the likes of knuckles. Every other situation has sonic in pretty much no danger, or quickly take of the threat like he did againts robotnik.
If sonic cinematic universe nedd to get some source material from the game's especially Sonic Adventure series, Sonic 06 , sonic unleashed and still far Sonic frontiers.

For Sonic Movie 3. I'm expecting the Prototype of the Ultimate Lifeform to be an owl rather than a lizard. If Gerald is gonna be inspired by all the ruins again, following the lore. I think it makes the most sense with all the owl imagery.
Also, would just make more thematic sense since everything Gerald created is a fake replica.

I think they should stop at 4 should they choose to go that far because too many films would make the Sonic Cinematic Universe feel like its dragging on. If they make a fourth film, they should divide it into two parts like they did with Sonic the Hedgehog 4 episodes I and II.

The thing about adapting Unleashed into the movie continuity is that it just wouldn't work. First, our Earth isn't the same as the game's Earth : different continents, different mythology, there's no Light or Dark Gaia or Temples of Gaia. Secondly, even if they retcon them into existing, it would be just a retread of the first movie.

But what if they made a movie about sonic lost world were they fix the reasons why the game sucked in the first place and redesign some of the members in the deadly six and make the deadly six enjoyable plus IDW (aka the company who makes very great sonic comics) could re-release most of the sonic Archie comic series and IDW could make a lot of commercials for the sonic comics that they make and put it on tv a lot so there could be even more people to get the sonic comics and become fans of sonic the hedgehog and then when at the end credits of one of the future sonic movies maybe like sonic 4 they could put one of the characters from the comics into the end credits for a tease of a new sonic movie but also Jeff Fowler has to put a few crush 40 songs in sonic 3

Here's my idea for the Sonic film franchise:

Christian Bale MUST voice Shadow. It's too perfect of a match. Shanon Chan Kent should definitely be Amy (she voices Pinky Pie in MLP and Misa in Death Note). This should all be in Sonic the Hedgehog 3.
Then there should be a movie introducing Silver (should be played by Billy West 100%) and Blaze. People don't like Sonic 06 though so maybe they can alter the origin a little bit and still include some details from that storyline but cut out the princess.
And after that, a Sonic Colors movie and Sonic Unleashed movie with their own plots that we've already seen in the games introducing more and more characters like Metal Sonic. Or maybe instead of Amy, we could see Sally Acorn (I've always preferred her to Amy)
Also, Jim Carrey is planning on retiring in 2 years so he might not be able to be Robotnik forever. Perhaps his nephew Snively from the cartoon can sort of come in and take over his legacy after Eggman dies. Snively could be played by Paul Dano (Riddler from New 'The Batman').
Speaking of Batman, Shadow should get his own movie where he gets to be the badass edgy anti-hero we all love.
