I think the reason Sonic was respectful with Sage and impatient with Master King was because of the vastly different context. With Sage, she was his only lifeline for finding out what exactly was going on, and always seemed to know very important information she wasn't sharing with him. The base game, up until his corruption gets really bad, is about Sonic exploring. In this DLC, he is on a strict timetable. Sage tells Sonic she can only hold his corruption back for a limited time, and the whole time he's participating in this trials, his friends are also becoming more corrupted. So when Master King starts posturing, Sonic literally doesn't have time for it.

Well, it was never stated that the Ancients were the ones who *_created_* the Chaos Emeralds, only that they *_found_* them. More than likely, the Emeralds are a natural creation of the universe, along with the Master Emerald, which is probably a good reason why the Master Emerald possesses a power similar to the power of all seven Chaos Emeralds put together. After all, its power resonating with the Chaos Emeralds’ own power is what brought them to the Earth after the Ancients escaped the destruction of their home planet.

While the platforms are scattered around with seemingly no cohesion, I think they're still well designed and add to that mystery of looking AI generated, which helps with the backstory of Sage, and I don't mind the platforms being suspended above the ground, as I still think the game looks great. There's just something about it, the aesthetic and the music, and especially the story, that makes me want to keep playing it. The enemy and boss designs are stellar. The titan fights are highlights, though gameplay wise, they are really easy. I agree about Cyberspace, and I don't mind them reusing old levels as long as they are fun. I wish the combat was a little better, and Sonic's parry timing should be changed across each difficulty. It's bizarre that they didn't do it for Sonic yet for other characters they did. With the latest patch, the physics are better, it's less buggy, but the difficulty has been eased, which was in response to the complaints from fans, but I wish they did that as a choice, rather than replacing the previous difficulty. But despite that, I think this is better than Shadow Generations. I think it has the soul of an open world Sonic game. Though I do wish they'd further update it a little more, as it would be perfect for me. Do you think they'll still update or patch this in the near future? I'd love it if they could fix the pop-in. I can't believe it's been a year since the best Sonic game got the best update! I find all playable characters fun to play, though not as much as Sonic, of course. They made the platforming challenges much harder and more open-ended, less linear than previous ones, which were too simple and automated. The new ending is a mixed bag for me. But the story is even better than before. What makes this game better than others is that I think it does playable characters the best. It also doesn't waste your playtime with non Sonic gimmicks as much as otherSonic games, especially Adventures 1 and 2, and Sonic feels great and fast to control. I disagree heavily when people say it's a Breath of the Wild ripoff as while it's clearly inspired, it also has a lot of differences, and I think I like it more. I even like that some challenges make use of momentum and make you think outside the box. The puzzles are mostly not challenging, but more like movement exercises, and i don't mind doing them. Overall, a masterpiece ✨️ Yeah, I don't mind the reusing of level layouts as the new movement makes it feel different. I similarly don't mind the koco quests, with most being optional, as long as they're not too annoying or pacebreaking. The worst part is probably the pinball minigame or the laser puzzle or the crane task. Cyberspace looks exactly like Generations, but I do like how they at least added the digital effect to make it feel new. Also, I like the presentation. I think the animations are quite good in general, better than in previous games, and I don't mind the realistic artstyle. While it's a triple A game, I do wish there were some CGI cutscenes, but that's probably because of the day-night system, so everything runs in real-time. As I said before, I really liked Frontiers, and it was almost perfect. In my opinion, it can only get better, not worse. Forces, while I think it's very overhated, and I kinda like it, I also find it kinda hard to defend, and I feel it was the dip in budget and quality and passion, it terms of both gameplay, design, story, and presentation, even though I don't think it's souless or lazy like many say. Frontiers, to me, felt like a high budget game, even though some corners were clearly cut. Not to be a blatant hater, but I don't think we'll ever return to that dip of content in the 2010s, as while I think saying it was the definition of mediocrity is a bit harsh, I don't think you could get worse than that. The next mainline game might not always be better than the last, but at least it won't ever be of that quality, let alone worse. Frontiers might have been great, but it can only get better, and that's hard to imagine!
The last update gave me hope that Sonic is finally coming back to having cool stories and character gameplay again. And the fact Sonic Team said this was their last chance to making a big Sonic game like this again made me sympathetic to them moreso than their previous works in the 2010s.
7:37 well...i kinda like the more calmer amy but hey maybe that's just me (og amy fans please don't dog pile me for having a different opinion and liking her character in frontiers or god sake.)
@@naitsabes6222 yeah its because in the past games the voice director didnt make the va's express any emotion he just told them what kind of voice they have to make while saying their lines, but it's hard task to maintain the same high pitched squeaky voice while actually expressing emotions, hence why amy sounds like that in frontiers
Considering that past games were more stronger quality wise, characterization, Final Boss, and the game still having bugs and issues comparing to earlier titles & other series, its safe to say its still only a step in the right direction because it made the franchise comfortable again. It deserve its success, but its not really outstanding in terms of presentation. More power to ya if u love the game tho, which i know you do lol (ps: sonic was already shot out of a gun/canon... sonic x?)
8:01 Of course, I'm not against cards, I'm against their main weapon being only 3 moves long, none of them being a truly offensive option (one is a Parry, the other is the Boost and the last one is a Cyloop). Other than that, she has to be the most enjoyable character to control.
To be fair, about the attitude of sonic. if i remember right i think it was ian that wrote the dialog but he still had to follow the story sonic team layed out for him.
Damn now you are reviewing the final horizon i actually thought you are gone you are very late for the party lol but in all honesty good a video 👍👍 and subscribed
There's actually a 1.4.1 update that fixed a whole bunch of stuff. The difficulty is much lower, it is still much more difficult than the base game but it is not frustrating, for example in the Titans Trial you now have 600 rings and your attack is 25 instead of 1 and the perfect parry is much easier to use. Knuckles glide is fixed. There is now an option to Restart a cyberspace level faster. And more
I like this direction with Amy too, I just had two problems with it. A) it felt like there was 0 transition between the old Amy and current Amy. Her love for Sonic just completely vanished as if it never existed and her cards suddenly reappeared as if they were always there. B) They haven't fleshed out this version of Amy enough, and thanks to that her personality seems extremely stereotypical and bland.
Final boss made me feel like a kid again. It was so cathartic seeing Sonic beat the crap out of Supreme and showing off lol. But, playing it a second time made me realize how janky it is. Like the game doesn’t tell you you need to snap the cord that Supreme has in his neck, and you’re left to guess how to switch between hitting his head and taking the gun out of his back. It was kind of frustrating and honestly, I wish they would fix this in future titles. They nailed spectacle but they really need to fix the base game. Otherwise, this was good besides the stupidly high difficulty spike.
5:03 you lost me here this is just completely wrong. Would love for you to cover the murder of sonic since that I feel is a much better interpretation of Amy
This is for you character analization of Sonic video, I Love your discription of Sonic the Hedgehog, Neck! It sounds like me when I was and still am in that zone. And thank you for saying nice things about the Black knight game too. I Personally think the years when people said Sonic games were meh, I like them because I feel that Sonic is done with comparing to Mario, even if he's not the best game ever, he at lease can help younger kids get into the adventures and speed before getting into the more intense journeys. (You don't have to agree or not, When it comes to my Sonic opinions on you tube, people don't actually like me for my thoughts.) And yes, I perfer flat characters over relatable ones, cause I get better perspective of things when my eyes are off me. Flat characters are the best, they get me to try better at the things I do. And Sonic Adventure 2 was my 1st ever Sonic game too, And Sonic character in the games as a developed character is basically underlooked SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO Much, Thank you for saying the things I wanted to say for years.
You cried to that Sonic and the black knight scene?!... ME TOO! Like seriously THAT IS SOOOOOO SONIC, IT REMINDED ME HOW MUCH I LOVE SONIC TOO! FINALLY, SOMEONE CAN RELATE!!! THANK YOU SIR!
Really the only character I don't like is Amy, and as someone who has her as her favorite character it's a problem. I've never been a fan of how Ian Flynn writes Amy because he doesn't write Amy as Amy, he makes her a completely out of character and just a different character entirely. And going by things he's said its clear he's not a fan of the character and why she feels different when he writes her. I'm not against the idea of the cast being more mature since that's obvious in this new direction and I DO think exploring more elements of Amy is a good thing, but Amy doesn't feel organic in the slightest. I also don't like the VD for Cindy Robinson because she doesn't really emote very well, when Amy's previous VAs had a sense of energy to their tone. I can't really expect Amy to just go back to how she was, but I feel a much better compromise would be her approaching her feelings about Sonic in a different way and doesn't really think about marriage. The Japanese dialogue handled it much better and I'm glad Sonic Team leaned in with that over making Amy a different character and passing off as "development" when she didn't really develop as a character. She's better in the IDW comics for sure and you do get to see glimpses of her character, but her writing is also just all over the place. If you ask me Murder of Sonic the Hedgehog is really the best Amy has been in any modern media. It captures all sides of her personality well and doesn't make her a boring mom character. When it comes to "Amy is Sally" comparison, this was mainly in earlier IDW issues where its clear that a lot of how she's written and her banter with Sonic comes off as very Sally like. This is just female characters nowadays period, they are in this lose/lose situation. If they are passive, they're weak, if they're aggressive their "promoting gender double standards" if they kick butt "girlboss". It's like Princess Zelda being playable in the new Zelda game, people wanted this, now all of a sudden its "woke" and "ONLY Link should be playable" I just hate how passive Modern Amy is, because her only character trait is she's a boring mother hen character who's only character trait is compassion with no flaws whatsoever, the generic passive female voice of reason who's only defined by kindness. Which is not only MORE out of date than the obsessive fan with a crush but is what solely defined females back in like 70s, 80s or even early 90s, critics criticized female characters for these, but its progressive for Amy? When they weren't just the person the protagonist had to rescue their only trait was, they were passive and kind. Which is further notified by how less her Piko Piko Hammer is used (even in Dream Team) and in Frontiers is replaced with Tarot Cards a more passive form of attacking that just reskinned moves utilized by her Hammer because "she can't be seen as rough or aggressive because it's bad for a female to do that" that to me is the main issue with her Tarot Cards in Frontiers, outside of that cycle move all of her moves are just reskinned abilities of moves she could do with her Hammer in previous games, which lessens in intrigue of her using magic. It would've been cool and sold the "Mystic" element had the cards been used for different purposes or displayed abilities couldn't do with just her hammer, instead they just took moves she did with her hammer and made them cards, which makes the "mystic" element less distinct and more they just want to throw it in your face. Amy using Tarot cards is fine, and I'm not against it, I just don't think it should displace her Hammer or vice versa. Because it now creates a bigger problem, what's so special about her Hammer now that she can perform the same acrobatic maneuvers she could with her Hammer? And what makes her cards special other than just being duplicate hammer moves? Frontiers just doesn't make them interesting enough for the "mystic" thing to come into play. Not only is this regressive for Amy, but fans who use to criticize Amy for having a temper are basically saying that her being passive and motherly as a direct correction to that is progressive, which to me feels sexist. It's basically treating Amy (a female) as having a temper is bad and that she's ONLY good if she's as good as YOU want her to be, and Sega appealing to this further condones that because it makes no sense to change Amy to appeal to people who don't even like the character to begin with, especially when nothing was ever said as an alternative solution they just complain about her existence. In Sonic Dream Team, Amy's only personality is that she's a female Sonic, which is another dose of double standards because people criticize her classic design for being Sonic, but girl, yet her modern personality of Sonic, but girl is fine? I think the main problem is guys for some reason want Amy to be this perfect flawless character with no negative characteristics. I just don't like this precedent that female characters have to be unfathomably nice and kind just to be good, yes these are traits you want to have to make someone likable, but it's also interesting to make someone with rough around the edges and still be a good person. Amy needs to have more to her character than "Motherly and Kind" or in Dream Team's case "Sonic, but Girl" considering her only personality in that game is female Sonic. It's also just not realistic, even the nicest people can have a rough side. As an Amy fan I just hate how her only role to the group is now just going to be "Sonic's friend who is a girl".
@@gleamingroses2952 finally someone who understands Amy. The fanbase doesn’t care about our opinions. As Michael Jackson would say all I want to say is that they don’t really care about us. Anyway peak comment do you know what Amy reminds me of in this game. She reminds me of twilight sparkle from my little pony but without the substance.
For the English dub, making everyone sound older than they should be a serious tone does not make. After the past decade that was the Meta Era, the English dub comes across like a child who talks like an adult, because they're so desperate to be taken seriously, that it feels more like a parody to the point where it seems more faux seriousness and nothing really feels sincere. Thank the gods Japan decided to stick with the "cartoony" voices, so everyone still sounds normal.
SEGA needs to make a sequel and perfect this new gameplay style, instead of making an entirely new game with a completely different style like they usually do. 🤦
He didn't make any Sally. He's just made her boring. Her hot tempererathness gave an Christine variation to the group. For Knux being hot tempered os a mischaracterization.
Missed your content but i disagree with your and most of the fandom's opinion about this game. It is a small step in the right direction and a big step in the wrong.
@@offlineterminated The most positive point of the bunch is the characterization and the story, must admit it But the rest is garbage to mid in my opinion, for basic form Sonic at least (not gonna talk about the FH nor the fishing and cyberspace) and i'll focus on the gameplay. Controls are okish, can't get used to having the homing attack on another button than the jump one and the lightdash. The spindash is a second boost which makes me just wonder why it's here. The boost is just a run button, it's like having Sonic just jogging if not pressed. The turns are good, not much to say about it. The level design is inexistant and the game takes away the hability to go back or just brake when in a certain section on the first island (that's a nitpick but still) There is almost nothing to do in this open world (open world is an open zone anyway so deal with it sega). The most outrageous part of the gameplay is the combat (as said, in basic form), it is garbage, slow paced, and non fitting for the character, it should be acrobatic and the player should be in control at almost any time. The air dodge and pary are a welcome addition but the rest should just be final attacks to pull out in the end of a combo, having infinite rings makes the involvement in combat close to nothing, it's so frustrating i avoid it at any costs and that's no good for a game more focused on it than the previous games. It should be exciting. As Super Sonic, the combat works well, not gonna lie. There is so much to rework in my opinion it should have came out 5 years later, just to get it right. Sorry if it seems like a venting comment, it is maybe cause Frontiers was a frustrating experience to me, and i expected nothing at all from the game, the devs defined this as the game that would define the next 10 years of the franchise and judged it as such, i appreciate the efforts non the less but it's like... i don't know... throwing an elemental grade student directly into college. I wish in the future they will get back on their feet but if in the next 3 games, gameplay is not good, i'll quit the ship entirely... It is a small step in the right direction but a big step in the wrong. (Also i don't consider the IDW comics as canon and they shouldn't have been, it's a bit like the fnaf franchise where it's devisive and for those who just follow the games, it feels like forcing our hand to understand the character development between the games in my opinion and many doesn't know about the comics which are not the main media for the franchise...)
@@-mixu- respect your opinion, and I fucking completely agree. IDW and prime should’ve never been canon to the games. I used the exact same fnaf analogy to compare why it’s a dumb idea.
@@offlineterminated There is also a thing that makes me go crazy and it's for the upcoming game, SxS gens, that's the fact they remap the the homing attack onto the boost button, for Unleashed it was like that and then they changed it in colors and generations and it was a welcome change because it felt more natural so why changing something that worked well to do something that works less well ? A simple thing would be to use the drift buttons/triggers when in the air if they want to add the dropdash to modern Sonic and then we'll have a better experience maybe
I don’t really like Flynn’s writing. It comes across as too… fan fictions… ish. Too try hard. And I’ll never forgive the bastard for linking the main series to that Sonic Boom abomination, at the end of the game, by mentioning Sticks. He could have shown Marine the Raccoon a little love, but no, he had to mention that abominable thing with the most annoying characteristics and the weakest design in the whole franchise history. And I don’t really like Amy in Frontiers either. She doesn’t annoy me, but it looks like they’re going the “strong and independent woman” route for no other reason than because it’s what is politically correct on Twitter. Same with calling clearly male or female koco “they”. They’re also overplaying the tarot card gimmick for Amy.
Dude. Sonic X Amy in the games is one of the most horrendous ships imaginable in this series. It would be so much better if they stopped doing any sort of teasing let alone supporting involving that ship and completely scrap it entirely. That’s one of the worst aspects about any Sonic game that has Amy in it truth be told. Also, in the IDW comics specifically, Ian Flynn did forcibly made Amy into Sally and gotta be honest, that is one of the worst creative decisions ever made in this series. Sally is meant to be Sally. Not Amy. You trying to fill that void with an already annoying and tiresome character only makes the issue worse and less enjoyable for the reader. I’ve had enough of that. Stop it entirely.

It makes sense for Amy to be calmer here and not her usual cheerful bubbly self but man she just sounds like old 40 year old women 😂
Amy is a strong woman in this game. I have one word for Amy in this game #twilightsparkle
Well, I guess it's more like _Two_ steps in the right direction, and one step back.
5:49 As a Sonamy fan, (while I respect others opinions and you can ship whatever you want) this statement couldn’t be more agreeable on my end. 🤷♀️👍
Imagine how hype it would have been if The Final Horizon was the fabled return of Hyper Sonic instead of this new Super Sonic 2 form...
Fun fact: Ian Flynn wanted to bring back hyper sonic to the dlc BUT SEGA DIDNT ALLOW IT
@@Sonicandeddsworldfan My disappointment is immeasurable and my day is ruined.

And more
why does the gameplay review not start until the video is almost over 😭
20:41 If you don't parry all the orbs & don't have enough rings, you'll die during that part.
So you like this Amy... despite having nothing to like about her?
the cards were way more prevalent in japan
@@TheSultan1470 I like the general direction with it. Give it a little more sustenance as well as an actual build up to it and it’s not too bad.
@@superflameking03 Too late for that. Ian already changed her.

16:37 please idk the source can someone tell me😢

Where have you been?!?
This is for you character analization of Sonic video,
I Love your discription of Sonic the Hedgehog, Neck!
(You don't have to agree or not, When it comes to my Sonic opinions on you tube, people don't actually like me for my thoughts.)
And yes, I perfer flat characters over relatable ones, cause I get better perspective of things when my eyes are off me.

The Japanese script of frontiers is bad tho.

Missed your content but i disagree with your and most of the fandom's opinion about this game.
It is a small step in the right direction and a big step in the wrong.
How so?
@@offlineterminated The most positive point of the bunch is the characterization and the story, must admit it
But the rest is garbage to mid in my opinion, for basic form Sonic at least (not gonna talk about the FH nor the fishing and cyberspace) and i'll focus on the gameplay.
Controls are okish, can't get used to having the homing attack on another button than the jump one and the lightdash.
The spindash is a second boost which makes me just wonder why it's here.
The boost is just a run button, it's like having Sonic just jogging if not pressed.
The turns are good, not much to say about it.
The level design is inexistant and the game takes away the hability to go back or just brake when in a certain section on the first island (that's a nitpick but still)
There is almost nothing to do in this open world (open world is an open zone anyway so deal with it sega).
@@-mixu- Even the characterization is somewhere off the mark, stuck in Ian FlynnField.
Pure perfection of a comment and description of Ian Phlem.
