Nice look back Nick. Sonic fans are a great, passionate bunch responsible for some of the best fan creations out there. There's something Sonic-related I had been working on, and you've helped bring me closer to the mood to finish it. Thank you.

personally im an ask the sonic heroes advocate and i remember it like yesterday when i watched episode 1. team 182 have been and will be in my heart, tad upset to see that they werent here but theres so much to cover that i understand why they may not have been here. loved this video, it was amazing to have a good look-back on all these amazing animations, creators and games.
The fact that I've seen, played and experienced all these fan content without being a full Sonic fan back then shows how much I was gonna be one in the future and after almost 8 years, I'm so happy to be one. ❤
For someone who were born in 2000 and got to experience all this, this really hit me home! Such a blast from the past from my time on Newgrounds and UA-cam! Thx for making the video I didn’t know I wanted ☺️
14:08 Oh hey, I was a part of that channel for some time. You're right on the assumption that it's definitely more of a family-oriented thing than most fan content, for sure. Ask the Sonic Heores actually started off as a side-series for SonicSong182 but (as the view counts suggest) evolved into its flagship series over time. For me, since I played Big the Cat, it was just kind of a fun time to come up with silly lines since Big's nature allowed me to make all my answers comedic to some degree. It's too bad you didn't dig a little deeper because their content also covers areas like plush adventures (which was the main thing before AtSH took off), musicals, and some other stuff as well. Also the OG source for the Sonic, Shadow, and Silver shorts mentioned earlier is coodoo17, if nobody else mentioned that already. Was one of the first pieces of fan content I saw while getting into Sonic in the late 2000s.
as a person who grew up in the era where fan content was mocked, this video meant a lot to me. i almost teared up at the end with a genuinely heartfelt montage of amvs and fanart i grew up on as a kid. seeing artists online make these beautiful reinditions of sonic in dramatic ways i couldn't ever envision (especially with myly14! i grew up with their works along with drawloverlala!), the editing and precision of stormreddeserts amvs, it inspired me a lot to become the artist i am today. thank you so much for this :)
newgrounds, now theres a blast from the past. I used to love going on there when in school and when i got home to play that sonic advance style game, and the one were you shoot them out of a canon. I miss those days.
I'm so grateful that I was born in December of 2004, cause I was able to live through the two most recent eras of sonic and I'm able to have nostalgia from both 2000 and 2010's fan content and still be young enough to enjoy most recent content like the movies or comics. I love this franchise and (most of) it's community cause of how passionate they are.
I was July 2005 in the Bahamas, I didn't have a next gen console, and I got a 360 in 2012, and I played games online all the time. My childhood was Sonic 3, SA2, Gens, Unleashed, SMBZ, Nazo, Sonic Shorts all that jazz. and I wasn't old enough to care about the newest games at the time like LW or Boom until Forces.
god this was such a fun watch, incredible work on this nick, really. i loved the vast majority of these as a kid who spent HOURS absorbing sonic content on my family's pc in the late 2000s/early 2010s, so to revisit these as a college student through this video was SUCH a nice nostalgia trip. thank you
"This is some Code Lyoko shxt" is honestly the most shocking quote in Sonic Stop Motion Adventures because Code Lyoko referenced in a Sonic Fan Video is unprecedented.
I love to see the sonic fan community get so much love! Looking at this incredibly well done video it really shows how much this whole community has done, and makes me even more happy to be apart of it! We have to keep the sonic stop motion community alive as well as the rest of the community cause as time goes on the fans can only get better!!
Watched about everything here mentioned and even the damn sonamy amv videos lmao it's nice remembering all these channels I used to watch and great to see how splendid the sonic community can be, great video man
No one ever mentions "Sonic's quest for power"(it also predates SMBZ) and it's a shame because it's one of the most earliest sprite animation and everything about it is just crazy awesome.
Dude literally made a video of my childhood. Growing up, I had no friends. But I had Sonic, and with my crappy computer, I had infinite Sonic fan content. I never felt alone because of this series. 💙
Beautiful, simply beautiful. It was a blast being part of this video, you did such a great job dude! The best part was your “review” you gave Tanic, I BUSTED out laughing with how professional you made it! Keep up the absolutely amazing work dude!
I remember so many Things from this! However although it may only be from 2017-18 Era, Right here on UA-cam was a channel Called S Sonic. It was mostly Based on using the live chat system in which you could Roleplay. It was a fairly small community, But it still had a Charm in my heart coming after school to get on my iPad to Meet all of my friends online.
Wow, that was an absolute trip down memory lane. Demetrius98 (?) was the sonic sprite creator I remember most. There was another one whose name was Hannah and was from Australia. She primarily used Tiara Boobowski as a stand in, but I don't remember the channel name. I was definitely into sonicsong182. I was always frustrated that a certain character I liked didn't get used in whatever was the newer game, so their content was great for letting me enjoy the characters more. Nazo and SMBZ will always be king though. Easily the best pieces of sonic media out there on sheer impact alone. I'm surprised there was no mention of the tails doll flash games, since it was a prominent character in the Sonic Paradox project and you mentioned Sonic.exe.
Thank you for your service (helping me find the Sonic Shadow and Silver Show (I have been searching for them for years since remembering being like 10 and watching them for hours))
i CHEERED when you brought up the shadow and silver series. i forgot the name of it and have been looking for it for years, i was so obsessed with it as a kid and i still think about it constantly. i used to sit in the watch party game on gaiaonline and do nothing but watch the sonic shorts animations and the shadow and silver series with random people, it was a blast. i miss mid-2000s internet
god, it’s so crazy thinking about how addicted i was to sonic when i was younger, and seeing this makes me think about the good ol days of just coming home and instantly watching sonic videos and fan games
7:31 I became a fan fo sonic colors in 2011 when I was 6 and I watched all the these nostalgic videos like nazo unleashed, sonic paradox and Sonic stop motion adventures
This is my childhood in a video 😢 Heck I still dedicate a big portion of my life to Sonic, but this video really took me back to a fantastic time. I'm currently 23, and I don't think I'll ever just stop liking Sonic. My heart goes out to all of you that keep yourselves steadfast. Stay true blue (also do any of you out there remember the song "They call me Sonic"?)
I was messaging one of my friends for a short bit while I was listening to this video but AS SOON AS I SAW GMOD SONIC ON THE SCREEN I GOT SO HYPED THAT I MADE THE POG FACE UNINTENTIONALLY, I DIDN'T EXPECT YOU TO MENTION SONIC ZOMBIE EVEN THOUGH IT MAKES SO MUCH SENSE BUT I'M SO HAPPY YOU DID XD Man that was such a nostalgic series from my childhood, thank you so much for this wonderful video! EDIT: OKAY YOU JUST SOMEHOW MANAGED TO SHOCK ME AGAIN HOLY SHIT I COMPLETELY FORGOT ABOUT SONIC STOP MOTION ADVENTURES. EDIT 2: YESSSSSSS SMBZ WAS THE BEST THING EVER, also man the only reason why I adore Mecha Sonic is thanks to this series. This video is ridiculously nostalgic.
A lot of the heavy hitters here were to be expected, but there were some deep cuts I'd forgotten about but rediscovered fond memories for all the same. (Forgot all about the scene creator and Sonic Q&A). A lot of these animations inspired me to make my own once upon a time.
Holy crap, I actually know every single one of these things, maybe with the exception for AMVs shown and Kalisami’s and Myly14 amazing art. It is an amazing trip though memory lane. I feel like Shadow759 was the one that gave me the most inspiration. In fact, I think it was him that got me inspired to do the skits and fandubs that I do in my channel. Hope I can branch off into more ambitious projects in the future but for now, I got still room to grow.
the Sonic Shadow and Silver show..... such words have not been uttered near me for over 15 years.... the sheer nostalgia from those words alone.... damn. just.... just damn.
Man, these creations take me back. Time flies. On that note, you're a real one if you remember the UA-cam classic, the greatest Sonic AMV of all time, "Uh Eeh Uh Ah Ah Ting Tang Walla Walla Bing Bang!!"
Not being a native english speaker myself I didn't run into many of the fan content mentioned here BUT there used to be a few channels dedicated to dubbing both official and fan animations into german. Most notably there was MrShidalko and ElementsOfJustice (the latter of which is still active and I am still subscribed to). They introduced the concept of fandubs and obviously a bunch of great content to me and to this day I still connect their voices to the characters. It's something I look back on so fondly and without their work I don't think I would have become as obsessed with this franchise as a kid as I was!
Ok but seriously I’m glad someone remembers the sonic shadow and silver show like man that was one of the first fan created content I’ve watched along with sonic paradox it was great stuff
Sonic RPG was something not mentioned in here but was a really big part of my childhood and has an extremely similar vibe, play style (obviously), and impact on everyone!
Great video, definitely made me feel nostalgic. However, the two first images you credited me on were not done by me. (Also you mispelled my username haha)
Man, did i get hit with nostalgia seeing these again. Loved these as a kid. It's unfortunate to see RosytheRascal15 not be a part of it because i remember watching him a lot as a kid, too. Suprised i didn't see this video sooner, though.
I did not expect to get this nostalgic over this video I've never considered myself the biggest Sonic fan in the world. The only non-game offically liscenced Sonic media I've watched was Sonic X and I've not touched a game past Adventure 2, other than Mania. But I remembered a lot more of these fan videos than I thought like The Sonic Shorts series, Nazo Unleashed, SMBZ, and several of the flash games. Despite not thinking about most of these fan works for probably close to a decade, I teared up watching this video because this brought back a lot of memories from elementary and early middle school. I'm now finishing my 4th year in college.
This video is a huge nostalgic find for me, so many creators I’ve seen in the past that made so many fun memories for me as a kid whether it was just animation, stop motion, voice acting, fanart or a fan game, in the end they were always rlly creative with where to take the story, some more in depth than others while others more meant to be fun, one thing I do need to finish is FFSX cuz damn that was a banger when I first played it
the most satisfying find of a vid, hard to find coverage of this. I grew up with the exact stuff in this since I was born in 2003 and only ever had a Wii and a laptop at hand.
This video brought back some memories i only vaguely remembered along with the memories of more recent stuff i love and still do to this day. Thank you for this
This video was amazing. I remember almost everything in this video from my childhood. The rush of nostalgia was incredible. A little disappointed there was no mention of my childhood favorite Sonic creator SonicToast, who is known for basically starting the whole Sonic stop motion trend, making stop motions series dating back to 2003 even before UA-cam. However the fact that Sonic stop motions even got a mention was enough for me. Amazing video
Man, this was a GREAT retrospective. I didnt get into Sonic until around when Sonic Rush Super Smash Bros Brawl, and Sonic Unleashed were released. And when i found out about the internet and youtube growing up, i learned about all the cool things the fans have made. i found games such as Ultimate Flash Sonic, Sonic Before + After the Sequel, Sonic Robo Blast 2, and even Sonic Robo Blast 2 Kart. I found projects such as Sonic Shorts, Super Mario Bros. Z, LBP Sonic and Shadow the movie, and even Sonic Stop Motion Adventures as you mentioned in the video. As a guy who was LITERALLY born on Sonic's Birthday (but a few years later), this was destiny in the making that i would become a sonic fan and be among many passionate people within this community. overall, Amazing Video dude!
9:18 This series is like the Pre-SGW Archie Sonic comics. Having some wacky origins that doesn’t fully represent what the series would evolve into, but still having a fun and unique take on the world of Sonic.
That's a nice video! Made me remember so much cool stuff. Really makes you appreciate this fanbase even more. I also want to throw in some nostalgic fan content in case there's ever a part 2. Some of it isn't that old but still invokes a feeling of nostalgia. Sonic Oddshow, Sonic Glitched, Sonic VS Knuckles (animation), Sonic's Halloween Costume, Shadow the Werehog, Sonic the Hedgehog likes waffles (animation), Christmas with Sonic series and Sonic Before/After the Sequel.
this video is honestly perfect you mentioned so many series that brought me genuine MONTHS if not YEARS of fun the only thing i can think of big in sonic that you didnt mention is the mario vs sonic movie series from GamingAllStarsGmod they are definitely a product of there time but i think they deserve a spot here.
This is by far my favorite sonic analysis video on youtube i've seen. revisiting my childhood and seeing all my favorite old sonic fan content was so nostagic. when the super mario bro z intro came up i actually got up from my seat from hype. Im also glad you didn't forget about sonic RPG and pinned the comment since thats all the video was missing. Thanks nick!
💙💙💙This really was SO NOSTALGIC! The fandom that was shown is true proof that fans will never give up on Sonic! No matter how low his games start to go the fandom will always love him no matter what!💙💙💙
You brought back memories of sonic shorts, sonicsong182, those text-to-speech videos, sammy, and tons of other things. I don’t know if I should thank you or slap you.
The Sonic and Silver Show is something I've been looking for for so long that I thought for a moment I had dreamed it, I'm so glad I was wrong. I really missed this show, and honestly, see it as a predecessor to the kind of stuff we saw in the Boom show.
i don't remember much from these times because i was like 7 and never truly dove deep into the sonic fandom myself (considering watching super mario bros z tho) i remember me and my brother were scrolling through sonic content on youtube and stumbled on an ancient piece of media titled "nazo unleashed". i wasn't very interested but my brother was intrigued and clicked on the video. i can't exactly remember what happened after that part but i know we did both enjoy it and ever since then it's been a huge part of me. i think i have my brother to thank lol. it's sad that this passion project was supposed to get another part titled "wrath of nazo" but never did due to budget and time. i still thank ChakraX for creating such an iconic piece of media that i will fondly remember it as. i remember the volumes, my brother told me not to watch those and i didn't but it was always in my recommended and was always to tempting to click on for sonic for hire, i only watched that recently but thats always been in my recommended from 7-9 as well. honestly the series itself was pretty grotesque but it was pretty funny for its tastes i vaguely remember seeing those fake sonic x screenshots in the thumbnails of youtube videos ack, StormRedDesert and BoomSonic123 (who is now known as MidnightBloom) were one of the biggest parts of my childhood, im grateful why did i used to be so afraid of sonic.exe the "im blue dance" i rewatched so many times for some reason lol the sonic zombies videos were always recommended to me too but per usual i never clicked on it because i thought it'd be scarring for my 7 year old brain we sure have come a long way, i thank everyone for making such content as respect and dedication to the franchise they had. and for being apart of our childhoods.
Fuuuck, I remember the nazo one! That's a gut punch and a half lmao, I specifically remember at 2:35 that scene having a note at the top about a better chaos control or something similar lmao
Amazing Video! Sammy, Tanic and Sonic.EXE were always a big part of my life when I was younger and Even more so now. Sammy and Petur wentzlau will always be legends! Keep up the amazing work!
A big portion of my early internet memories are tied to Sonic and the fan content that was around in that time, so it's nice to see videos like these show up. However, I wish you could have touched upon the sprite comic side of the community which I also recall being somewhat notorious back then, but otherwise great video.
Want to thank you for this video. It's really made me realize after all these years how incredibly lucky I was to enjoy all these great works. And some others I haven't even seen yet.
In 2020 I rewatched all current seasons of Sonic for Hire, it still gave me the same reactions that it did that it watched it the first time. I can tell that the team at Lowbrow is still deeply passionate over their work, even after that whole kerfuffle with Machinima.

personally im an ask the sonic heroes advocate and i remember it like yesterday when i watched episode 1. team 182 have been and will be in my heart, tad upset to see that they werent here but theres so much to cover that i understand why they may not have been here.
loved this video, it was amazing to have a good look-back on all these amazing animations, creators and games.
BRO when I heard "Monster", the memories came FLOODING back. The Nostalgia is unbelievable 😭
YOOO ULTIMATE FLASH!!!
ultimate flash sonic was my introduction to the series. good times

Oh hey, I was a part of that channel for some time.
So you're 17 years old
I was July 2005 in the Bahamas, I didn't have a next gen console, and I got a 360 in 2012, and I played games online all the time.
My childhood was Sonic 3, SA2, Gens, Unleashed, SMBZ, Nazo, Sonic Shorts all that jazz. and I wasn't old enough to care about the newest games at the time like LW or Boom until Forces.

FACTS I was born at August of 2004 I get to experience the glow ups of fandoms and Sonic was one of my favorite characters
I was born in 07 but I grew up with all the stuff from this era and I’m so glad about that
god this was such a fun watch, incredible work on this nick, really. i loved the vast majority of these as a kid who spent HOURS absorbing sonic content on my family's pc in the late 2000s/early 2010s, so to revisit these as a college student through this video was SUCH a nice nostalgia trip. thank you
This was an amazing Video and nostalgic trip to memory lane.
Thank you for making this wonderful video!
(Sonic RPG Will remember that...)
Watched about everything here mentioned and even the damn sonamy amv videos lmao it's nice remembering all these channels I used to watch and great to see how splendid the sonic community can be, great video man
sonamy barbie gurl is the best hands down
I'm surprised by how obscure the Sonic sprite show has became in the fandom.
It's been a constant for me since 2009, the OG Coodoo17
This was such a nostalgia trip OMGGG! Great video!
No one ever mentions "Sonic's quest for power"(it also predates SMBZ) and it's a shame because it's one of the most earliest sprite animation and everything about it is just crazy awesome.
Aaah man seeing sonic stop motion adventures and nazo unleashed just fuels my heart
Dude literally made a video of my childhood. Growing up, I had no friends. But I had Sonic, and with my crappy computer, I had infinite Sonic fan content. I never felt alone because of this series. 💙
THIS WAS INCREDIBLE! Talk about a trip down memory lane LOL. Please make a sequel!!
This video made me cry. Brought me back down memory lane, you deserve a sub for this.
I'm in tears, brought back so many memories. I'm happy to have lived through it all
Great video that talks about almost all fan content - Makes me wanna look back on all the content made over the years
i CHEERED when you brought up the shadow and silver series. i forgot the name of it and have been looking for it for years, i was so obsessed with it as a kid and i still think about it constantly. i used to sit in the watch party game on gaiaonline and do nothing but watch the sonic shorts animations and the shadow and silver series with random people, it was a blast. i miss mid-2000s internet
god, it’s so crazy thinking about how addicted i was to sonic when i was younger, and seeing this makes me think about the good ol days of just coming home and instantly watching sonic videos and fan games
Dude this video hit so many nostalgia spots for me and I just want to personally thank you for reminding of some things i have forgotten about!
A video that basically embodies my childhood and why I love this fanbase to begin with. Thank you for making this.
I remember when I was small I would watch those "Sonamy Love Story" videos on UA-cam.
I loved and remembered all of these
Sonic shorts and sonic zombies are amazing.
I was messaging one of my friends for a short bit while I was listening to this video but AS SOON AS I SAW GMOD SONIC ON THE SCREEN I GOT SO HYPED THAT I MADE THE POG FACE UNINTENTIONALLY, I DIDN'T EXPECT YOU TO MENTION SONIC ZOMBIE EVEN THOUGH IT MAKES SO MUCH SENSE BUT I'M SO HAPPY YOU DID XD
Man that was such a nostalgic series from my childhood, thank you so much for this wonderful video!
Nostalgic and amazing… I love all of this!!! Thank you for taking me back through memory lane.
DUDE. That Do You Like Waffles AMV must have been some of the earliest internet content I've consumed. I literally felt my life flash through my eyes.
WE GOIN OLD SCHOOL I SEE oh nostalgia god i miss the late early2010s/2000s
Sonic sprite animations are so amazing to rewatch there's a couple lost episodes that will only live in my memory
9:18
This series is like the Pre-SGW Archie Sonic comics.
I’m surprised spindashpro or sonictoast old videos were not in this
This was both a nice trip down memory lane and a great tribute to the most memorable fan works and the community as a whole. Very well made.
this video is honestly perfect you mentioned so many series that brought me genuine MONTHS if not YEARS of fun the only thing i can think of big in sonic that you didnt mention is the mario vs sonic movie series from GamingAllStarsGmod they are definitely a product of there time but i think they deserve a spot here.
No matter how low his games start to go the fandom will always love him no matter what!💙💙💙
Man, what a trip down memory lane, this video was amazing. Keep up the work and dedication for your fans as they are so entertaining!
I love this video, you were able to take the feeling in our hearts and articulate it in a way that somehow hits every point
i don't remember much from these times because i was like 7 and never truly dove deep into the sonic fandom myself (considering watching super mario bros z tho)
i remember me and my brother were scrolling through sonic content on youtube and stumbled on an ancient piece of media titled "nazo unleashed". i wasn't very interested but my brother was intrigued and clicked on the video. i can't exactly remember what happened after that part but i know we did both enjoy it and ever since then it's been a huge part of me. i think i have my brother to thank lol. it's sad that this passion project was supposed to get another part titled "wrath of nazo" but never did due to budget and time. i still thank ChakraX for creating such an iconic piece of media that i will fondly remember it as.
i remember the volumes, my brother told me not to watch those and i didn't but it was always in my recommended and was always to tempting to click on
for sonic for hire, i only watched that recently but thats always been in my recommended from 7-9 as well. honestly the series itself was pretty grotesque but it was pretty funny for its tastes
i vaguely remember seeing those fake sonic x screenshots in the thumbnails of youtube videos
ack, StormRedDesert and BoomSonic123 (who is now known as MidnightBloom) were one of the biggest parts of my childhood, im grateful
why did i used to be so afraid of sonic.exe
the "im blue dance" i rewatched so many times for some reason lol
the sonic zombies videos were always recommended to me too but per usual i never clicked on it because i thought it'd be scarring for my 7 year old brain
we sure have come a long way, i thank everyone for making such content as respect and dedication to the franchise they had. and for being apart of our childhoods.
I remember when I made my own series using Sonic scene creator good times
Love em or Hate em, it's really true that Sonic fans are really passionate when it comes to creating things.
We will never forget these legendary sonic fan contents from these legendary people
Fuuuck, I remember the nazo one!
BRO YOU UNLOCKED MY MEMORY FOR THE SSS SHOW WTFFFF
Want to thank you for this video. It's really made me realize after all these years how incredibly lucky I was to enjoy all these great works. And some others I haven't even seen yet.
In 2020 I rewatched all current seasons of Sonic for Hire, it still gave me the same reactions that it did that it watched it the first time. I can tell that the team at Lowbrow is still deeply passionate over their work, even after that whole kerfuffle with Machinima.
