    One useful addition would be to A/B the stereo and ATMOS versions to see how ATMOS adds movement and depth to the music.

      it is possible to create a "stereo ref mix" channel in the Dolby Atmos Renderer app - go to top menu Window --> re-render mode -- adjust the setting on the relevant outputs to OFF - then that pair of output objects can route the original ref mix to your monitors for comparison alongside the Atmos mix

    Great walkthrough, thank you! I have a semi-important question, and maybe the solution is using an upmix plugin on a separate buss...
    When mixing an audio clip as an object, is it possible to turn off the center channel to prevent the audio clip from bleeding into the center dialog channel? For example, mixing an audio clip into the bed is easy enough by disabling the center channel on the mixer, but an object doesn't seem to work the same way. Is it possible to mix objects with the phantom center effect? Any help would be appreciated!

    15:50 I’m a little confused, why would he delay the duplicate kick tracks? If they are identical, if they are coming from different speakers as long as they are identical they would be in phase, so why delay them? Anyone care to fill me in? Am I missing something?

    Thanks for the video. Great info. I noticed you're using EL Arousor on your 7.1.2 multi-channel bus. I have the latest version of the plugin and it only appears in the multi-mono menu. Does that mean your crush bus is two channel, even though it shows as multi-channel? Thanks!

    thanks for this video! One question: Is there a way to affect the all stems with one compressor or limiter in a kinda stereo master bus fashion? I mean if I have a stereo comp applied on entire mix it will pop up in the mix more kick and snare for example reducing other instrument... you know what I mean... stereo bus compression affect the overall dynamic of the song... is this possible in ATMOS or you have to completely change your final master concept and do all treatments on the stem with no overall master treatment? If you can answer thank you so much!!

      No, this is not possible, because the sum is calculated when you listen to it. But there is a Plugin by Hornet SAMP, a EQ, Compressor and Limiter at every track.

    Great video- thanks for sharing! I use ProTools also, when necessary, Pyramix for DSD, and Reaper whenever I can, and especially with high channel count work in Ambisonics, ATMOS and various other formats thanks to so many workflow, stability and performance advantages- not the least of which is Reaper’s support for 64 channels per track. No need for 7.0.2 object beds or lanes in ProTools.

    hi, is there a way to work with ambisonics inside dolby atmos?
    Asking in context of a binaural live concert: How much latency is there with the renderer by using it in a live situation?
    Would be very helpful to know, thanks!

    • @johnkrummrich4948
      @johnkrummrich4948 3 роки тому +1

      You could just use 3ed order ambisonics all the way through then to binaural. I am at 6 ms you have to run the atmos render at 512 buffer.
      I am very new to this and working my way through it.so hope this helps.

    I’m new at this. Question for everyone: will the resulting mix that sounds great in Atmos on headphones still sound fine as stereo when one listens with stereo speakers only?

    • @alexandredupont5308

      honestly eh. You should do like me, release a stereo mix and then a spatial audio mix. two versions for two very different listening environnements

    Hey folks, I need your help! I have PT 2021.6.0 running on iMac 2017. There's no "Dolby Atmos" tab in my peripherals. Both the software and drivers to work in Dolby Atmos are installed. Any chances to enable that "Dolby Atmos" tab or make it visible? Any suggestions, please?

    • @BerlinTonDE
      @BerlinTonDE 3 роки тому +1

      You need Pro Tools Ultimate for the "Dolby Atmos Tab", the 7.1.2 Busses and the integrated Atmos Panning.
      When working with Standard Pro Tools, you can download the free "Dolby Atmos Music Panner" plug in, this will allow you to at least pan Objects around and get started. - but Pro Tools Ultimate enables all the more advanced Atmos workflows.

    What is Eric using for an audio interface? To be able to mix Dolby Atmos on a laptop?

    • @BerlinTonDE
      @BerlinTonDE 3 роки тому +2

      Hello Gerry! When mixing binaural on headphones you can use any 2-ch audio interface, even the built-in out of the laptop.
      When mixing on loudspeakers you need an interface with at least 10 or 12 outs, like the focusrite Red16 line or similar.

      Btw, can u recommend speakers for a 7.1.4 setup? Are the JBL LSR 3 series (308 306 310s) good enough?

      @@BerlinTonDE Hi, I am a bit confused, first does apollo interfaces work with this? And for the headphones can it be any headphones?

    • @BerlinTonDE
      @BerlinTonDE 3 роки тому

      @@ViszyA yes. When working in Atmos for headphones you can use ANY audio interface with a headphone out, and any headphone model. The whole binaural processing happens in the Dolby Atmos Production Suite Software, so you don’t need a special Interface or special headphones.

    • @CeloyG
      @CeloyG 3 роки тому

      @@ViszyA You can use any headphones, but open back headphones or really good(but expensive) closed backs will be better because of the perceived "space" of the sound. DT 990, sennheiser hd600 are some examples, but be careful with the frequncy response, using something like sonarworks soundID reference would fix a lot of problems.

    Dolby Atmos should sound wide to super wide around you. But why this mix sound unnatural wide and didn't sound good to listen to? What is the point of Dolby Atmos if it doesn't improve listening experience??
    I think there should be better way of mixing Dolby Atmos for better listening experience. But not like this technique.
