Watching Sandy and Munro's experts analysing this information is always fascinating. To be able to draw so much information from just a few images is nothing short of outstanding. Terrific video, as always!
There is a testing facility in the Cardrona valley (Waiorau Snow Farm) where the vehicle testing is done. This time of year it would be snow , ice and hill/mountain tests.
@Agnemons Yes a couple of Cybertrucks have been down there for winter testing fot the past 2 month or so. Many great pics and videos have been posted taken from a distance. I suspect that these pics were taken in NZ.
Cory will be missed. Loved his professionalism, which seemed to be a point of tension. Looking forward to, hopefully, following Cory in his next adventure.
I wish that they had told us about this as Cory was (obviously) a huge part of the company and this channel. He served as an effective counterbalance to Sandy and they made a great team. If he left, it implies that he'd rather be somewhere else, which is disappointing as he's been with Munro a long time and seemed to be critical to the company's success. Best of luck, Cory.
If *Tesla* is doing *informational advertising* now then they should send *Munro & Associates* a *CyberTruck* to teardown. It would get the information out to the wider world and all it would cost *Tesla* is *_one_* vehicle. I've seen commercials that cost a million dollars to produce that can't answer even the first question about a vehicle.
I doubt many buyers care how it's made. When I bought any of the dozen cars in my life, I didn't feel any need to see a breakdown of the car in order to make my buying decision. The day after Cybertruck release, their will be an avalanche of pre-written articles and videos on MSM about why the Cybertruck sux and no one should buy it.
- At 0:45 - The suspension uses a low pressure die cast or sand cast aluminum front cradle. This is likely to allow the wheel to break away in a front impact crash. Good news for safety. - At 4:58 - The rear cradle is steel which is cheaper and balances front/rear weight distribution. Good news for costs. - At 6:30 - The rear knuckle has a ball joint, indicating it has rear wheel steering for tight turning. Good news for maneuverability. - At 9:04 - It has an air suspension system which allows features like load leveling and ride height adjustments. Common in trucks now. Good news for versatility. - At 10:49 - Glimpses of large castings, likely part of the gigacast. Good news for manufacturing efficiency. - At 11:46 - The underbody seems unfinished with exposed cables. Likely just a prototype. Neutral as expected on a prototype. Overall, the suspension design choices seem well suited for the Cybertruck's goals of safety, cost, capability and efficiency. The exposed under body on the prototype is not concerning for a pre-production vehicle.
That amazing device with the opposing threads is an external-threaded turnbuckle, been used for 100+ years and the more common block-turnbuckle with internal threads and a hollow structure has been used far longer!

I'm asking since increased toe in either direction would erase all the efficiency gains from improved air drag, etc. that would otherwise be gained by optimizing the ride height, not to mention the excessive tire wear...
there was talk a while back (Connecting the Dots maybe?) about having electric / actuator brakes. Any hint of that in these pics? I didn't see any hydraulic lines... but I didn't see any wires either.
Great video, as always. love watching how cars are engineered. At 10:48 Sandy said he was unsure if the Gigacasting in the image was from the front or the rear. I'm sure it's the rear, because the control arm is welded pressed metal, not the casting used on the front for SORB. I'd say those exposed cables are the charge cables, maybe the technitian who abandoned it had taken off the shield, or it wasn't installed on this prototype. Unsure about the cable cover, but it's sure interesting seeing something we're not really supposed to see yet...
