I recommend this video to everyone studying for the MCAT. Thanks sm!
I have my MCAT in 3 months, I truly can’t express how thankful I am for you!
I gotchu ;) best of luck!
Thank you so much for explaining this in SUCH an easy way to digest all of this, and also for both the comprehensive Anki tutorial and simplified MCAT guide/links to resources!! Truly appreciate everything so so much!
thank you for the kind words :)
You are the coolest person ever! I was so confused with Anki before I even started trying to study for MCAT! And you made it so easy to figure out how it works thank you so much
Genuinely, thank you so much! Big up to you for taking the time and effort to make this video. I was super confused with anki settings but it makes perfect sense now. Great explanations and good luck in your future endeavors. You'll do amazing!
Thank you! I appreciate the kind words :) best of luck to you!
You're the goat man thank you for making this and the Google Drive as a whole!!
Of course :)))
Wow! this video is amazing!!!
Thanks man, this actually helped a lot. Appreciate the help!
Glad to hear it! :))
Super helpful! Thanks for the great content and tips :)
Happy to help!
this is incredibly helpful, thank you so much
Glad to help! :)
Thanks this was so helpful
Thanks for this video and for the guide you posted on Reddit, they're both very helpful and gave great ideas. Good luck in medical school! You seem like the type thats gonna be just fine.
Thank you :)
Thank you so much man!
thx so much so helpful
Dude! Thank you so much
No problem! :))
Thank you soooo muchhhhh
Why i am watching the whole video when i am already in third year of medical school.
Good video though
Great video thanks a lot! Quick question, would you recommend changing the max interval to 6 months if my exam date is 6 months out, or should I leave it at 1 year?
Yeah, you could change it to 6 months. That's what I did as well!
Amazing video bro, very informative. One question I have is in your MCAT schedule from week 7 to 18 I noticed that all you were doing throughout your days was Uworld practice. How come you didn't use the AAMC question banks during those last few weeks? From what I've heard, people said to switch over to the AAMC question banks during the last bit of your prep because it replicates what you'll see on the real thing. If you could explain this to me, I'd appreciate it. Thanks.
Yeah for sure. I give a more in depth answer in the guide in my pdf, but essentially this is a really unpopular opinion so take it with a grain of salt, but I didn't really like the aamc section banks. I found their answers and explanations unhelpful, so I just kept doing uworld instead. I'm in the minority though so definitely check them out and see if you like them
Thank you for this video! Did you mature the AnKing deck? If so, how long did it take? I’m worried I won’t have time to complete the deck since I’m testing in May. It seems like it’s best to use when you’re 6 months out?
No problem. That’s plenty of time. I did both Anking and pankow in about 4 months and I matured both decks. Start today!
Thank you so much for the video, was super helpful! Just wanted to ask a few questions I came across.
1. Does anki randomize the questions after you reviewed them the first time? I realized the questions in each chapter are in sequential order but hoping for it to randomize so its less predictable.
2. Also was wondering if anki randomizes the questions across all decks you untoggle as you add more and more chapter decks and viewed them for the first time.
Once again, truly appreciate the guide youve given!
Yes and yes, assuming you click the main deck. If you just click the biology deck, you will only see biology cards, but if you’re clicking the main deck then yes everything will be randomized
Hey! Thank for the video
Was wondering when you explained the AnKing deck you said not to do too many new cards as they pile up. How do you limit and reduce the number of cards? Is it just you don’t so many or can you reduce how many new ones?
No problem! Yes you control how many new cards you do a day, so if you feel like you’re doing an overwhelming number of cards, scale back a bit so you don’t get too many. You always want to do all your review cards, but you can change how many new cards you do each day. Some days I wouldn’t do any new cards
does this mean that although the "preset" new cards/day is 9999, we should change the "Today only" setting to 50? or should we unsuspend 50 new cards a day?@@TheAnatomicalChemist
Do you have a video of how you studied using anki? If you're using the kaplan specific anki cards, where did you get the chapters? Is it a free online resource? Or do we need to buy the books? Also thank you so much for this video!
You have to buy the books but all the anki decks are free
Hi! This is great. i am a little confused about the tags. I downloaded the deck you have on your google doc and followed your video's directions, however, there is no Anking-MCAT tag... the tags say AK_Step 1, AK_Step 2.. etc.. any advice?
Hmm you sure you have the right deck? That sounds like his decks for step 1 and step 2. Try downloading again making sure you have the right deck. If you’re still running into issues email me a screenshot of what you’re looking at
Great Video man, Quick question, when changing the P/S deck to 40 new cards a day, how do you make it not effect the AnKing deck when it was set to 9999?
When changing the limit on the deck, change the top header to "this deck" not "preset"
You can change the settings for specifically that deck on the top of the settings
I'm going through the setup and mine doesn't have a V3 scheduler check box, does that matter?
V3 scheduler is the default now in updated anki, so no need to worry about it!
Hello! This is a silly question, but I’m a brand new Anki user, so I’m trying to get the hang of it for MCAT prep!! If you were going through the Kaplan books every day and adding those sections to your Anki deck for content review, how did you keep from having thousands of cards piling up to do every day? If the old ones are in the system to be done, do they naturally get spaced farther out? Enough so that you can add two new Kaplan sections a day? It just seems like it would get exponentially too big too quickly! Thank you so much for all your help!!
Glad to help. I should’ve mentioned although I read two chapters per day I didn’t do all the cards associated with those two chapters every day. I’d do around 50-100 new cards a day or so, but you do not want too many cards piling up. I always tried to stay under ~500 total cards per day so that I was not spending a majority of my day on anki. I averaged around 300-400 cards per day. And yes the review cards do become more spaced out as you go
does this mean you would "unsuspend" 50-100 cards from a chapter a day?@@TheAnatomicalChemist
Do you recommend burying new/review cards? I’m starting studying now with my exam about 4.5 months out, what should my maximum interval be?
I don’t remember if I buried any cards, but to my knowledge I don’t believe I did. Max interval at a few months shouldn’t make a big difference
I’m a noob and am using the anking deck via Anki hub . I get unsuspending the chapter I’ve reviewed but how do I do that with the p/s section that is already built into the deck now ?
Should just be do the same thing you’re doing with the other parts of the deck
When should i start seeing my cards in the Due pile? (For reference I’ve used anking deck for 3 days straight so far and have 147 cards in the learn pile right now)
Can’t really say for sure it’ll depend on the card and how easy/hard it is
would you study by doing subdeck by subdeck (finishing all of bio, then moving on to chem and finishing all of chem) or would you do the whole Anking Deck "dues"? And how would you add "50" new cards to study a particular day -- by unsuspending 50 cards in a tag (chapter) and then studying the subdeck (or by studying the whole Anking Deck and completeing some "due" questions from different subjects)
I would do all my due cards and then just unsuspend however many new cards I wanted to do. Doesn’t matter whether you do subdeck or main deck
that makes sense!! thank you so much for the quick reply :))))@@TheAnatomicalChemist
For some odd reason when I downloaded the Anking deck upon reviewing the card I was only able to look at the milesdown deck
Do you have 5300 cards? If so, that is the Anking deck, it just still says milesdown since he made the original deck
No unfortunately
@@luisburgos5040how many cards are in the deck? Did you download the Anking or miledown deck?
@@TheAnatomicalChemist only one and it says "ONE CARD TO RULE THEM [...]
@@luisburgos5040 yup that’s the Anking deck. Sounds like either you’re not seeing all the cards or it didn’t download properly. I’d try redownloading it and see if it works
Where did you go for undergrad?
waiting on the reply for this one. though he's probably still applying
Sorry don’t wanna disclose that info, but yes @inexp1 I am in this current cycle
