HBO broadcast was simply the best. Jim lampley, Larry merchant, george foreman, roy jones, Max kellerman. Please comeback and Make the Sport we love with a passion great again. We Need you Back HBO. 🙏🏻🙏🏾
@@anthonyb2578 not only Jim Lampley, but also with Larry Merchant, Emmanuel Steward, Roy Jones Jr., Lennox Lewis, George Foreman and Unofficial Scorer Harold Lederman
@@anjhontongo6945 Absolutely. The whole crew throughout the years. RIP Lederman. Not sure if you heard Jim Lampley signed with Triller. Not the best option but I'll take it.
HBO boxing was on a different level. The production value/ class is unmatched. The music, the fighter profiles. Lampley and Merchants voice. Big George and RJJ with the insights. Buffer in the center of the ring. Nobody has been able to replicate it.
The theme that really made boxing so exciting in the 90's and part of the 2000's. The main boxer that reminds me of this theme is Oscar De La Hoya. HBO really did a great job back in the day with the great story lines and expic fights!!!
I always think about Oscar De La Hoya and others when I hear this. It brings back so many memories. One thing about Oscar though is, he fought EVERYBODY. So his legacy is special because of that.
"Rules of the fight with our Unofficial Scorer Harold Lederman." Harold Lederman: "The ____ -_____ fight is scheduled for 10/12 rounds using the Unified Rules of the Association of Boxing Commissions.... There's no 3 knockdown rule, only the referee can stop the fight, if the accidental headbutts are occured we will go to the scorecards if the 4 rounds are completed and you cannot be saved by the bell at any round INCLUDING the 12 and Final Round.... JIM!!"
you can still use this theme for the current hbo video intro AND IT FITS for the most part. the only problem is you have to shave twenty seconds of the audio (cutting off the false ending like they did in the later versions) but assuming you trim a piece of this theme, streamline it and incorporate the video it'll all fit amazingly, i did a bit of a dry-run playing the two separate videos together. i'd love to see someone pull it off for real.
I heard the MBC piece, which is very good, but I think after the first few catchy notes the MBC tune has its own riff which ain't bad especially if it's the guitar version. The orchestral rendition on UA-cam is quite beautiful IMO.
This show felt like something on Cinemax more than something on HBO. HBO Boxing got interesting went they went the Cinemax route (although I debate when that started). :) Showtime Boxing is better though.
I can imagine hearing that before watching AEW programming. Whether it’s Dynamite, Rampage, Dark, special episodes and/or a PPV. As TNT, TBS, and B/R are owned by WarnerDiscovery; I’m guessing the PPVs are on HBO in place of the Boxing since HBO doesn’t show Boxing anymore in the US and with Jim Lampley replacing Jim Ross when JR passes and/or Excalibur chooses to step aside from commentary.
The theme was also used as the official theme of the baseball channel "ESPN" aired by 'MBC' in Korea. ua-cam.com/video/koNrkT7kgv8/v-deo.html (MBC ESPN Origin) ua-cam.com/video/IUKjKaQ8fDI/v-deo.html (MBC ESPN Origin 1hours ver.) ua-cam.com/video/_To2Slzl0mY/v-deo.html (MBC Sports+ Baseball's Official Piano Cover)

The legend of HBO is done now, but that sprit was succeeded to KBO.
Great theme.

The old days de la Hoya Lewis Roy Jones gatti man good old days

Say what you want about the commentary but they knew how to hype up a fight unlike DAZN or PBC
There is very similar theme song for korea baseball league(KBO),MBC. Maybe MBC did a illigal thing.

Is there a longer version of this?
If there is, I'm unaware. Unless someone made like their own edit to make it longer on their own accord.

They used it during the end credits after the tribute/montage. So nostalgic!
