I'm 40 ..... and there's been many Saturday's in my youth I stayed home to watch HBO boxing instead of going out with my friends to make poor choices. I had a friend pass from a car accident I would've been in. Countless other altercations too. This theme song gives me goosebumps. Thank you.
One small altercation is all it takes for a tragedy, just for being part of a group that has one or two looking for problems. I know i had alot of close encounters being out on Saturday nights. We are truly blessed thanks to the lord that protected us, and with this great theme song we reminisce

That's because you probably did watch something special. I'm not the biggest fan of the network, but what HBO boxing did for the sport is hard to replicate. Their production was next level and yes, made you feel like you were watching something special.
I haven't watched boxing for 11 years. 8 sanctioning bodies per division, with a couple of them having 3 champions within just one sanctioning body. I had to give it up. Too preposterous.

got into boxing at the right time, first fight was trinidad vargas, from then on i was lucky to witness the eras of trinidad, delahoya,mosley, pacquiao,barrerra,erik morales,juan manuel marquez,lennox lewis,floyd mayweather,and many many more great fighters!.
Every time I heard this theme, I always knew I had seen a great event. Not necessarily that the fights were great, which they were mostly during the 90's and 2000's but, it was about the event. HBO put so much value into the production of a great show each time with the music, the graphics, the personnel, etc. After Ross Greenburg left, the HBO production was never the same. But I digress. My favorite times were on a Saturday night, especially a PPV on HBO, with Lampley, Merchant, Big George and Harold Lederman. Goddamn, those were the days! Every time, we'd order a PPV, my father and I would crack open a case of Budweiser. I really miss those times and my Dad. R.I.P. Dad and HBO boxing.

This theme brings back so many amazing memories. Every saturday evening sitting in front of the TV at my parents house with my Dad and older brother. I remember both HBO and showtime would have huge fights scheduled at the same time. You would have to decide which fight card to watch and which one to record. Fuck, I would give anything to go back to that time.

How epic would that be if HBO made a return for a king of the ring tournament in each weight class, all these different titles like the 🙄 wbc ibf and so on, they could all fight it out in a tournament that will crown the one ☝️ and true Champion of the world in their weight class, regardless of how many belts or titles they have, and every year they could hold the same tournaments where the champions have to defend their king of the ring title

Man, I miss HBO Boxing. I used to love hearing this theme after the broadcast where they would recap all of the previous fights, who won, etc, and if the main event had a spectacular K.O., they'd time 3:18 of this song to the punch that ended the fight. Man, I miss those days.

Man, I miss HBO Boxing. I used to love hearing this theme after the broadcast where they would recap all of the previous fights, who won, etc, and if the main event had a spectacular K.O., they'd time 3:18 of this song to the punch that ended the fight. Man, I miss those days.
3:18 when that point of the theme hit you knew the best punch of the fight was gonna be seen...
I bet you will hear this theme song in Las Vegas Boulevard back in the 90s while walking through the MGM hotel before or after the fight I can just imagine how loud it was around the city
