I was asked by my highschool choir teacher to sing this song, and it has become my favorite solo song I’ve ever sang. It is beautiful and so fun too sing.

About 3 years after L.P. sang this song, I sang it in my advanced voice class at Orange Coast College in Costa Mesa, CA. It was one from a book of Italian Art Songs that we used in that class. I also sang Vergin Tuto Amor that I loved. Not once did I ever get nervous about my singing, but I sure did get nervous when it came to the lyrics.

2. It's "svegliatemi Ninetta" and not "svegliate mi Ninetta"
I just got into these types of songs because I’m in an choir at my school and I have a vocal coach. She started me off with caro imo Ben and I fell down this rabbit hole.
This is an absolutely stunning genre full of exquisite and mature beautiful voices.

@@valasina2015 I did see you asking about the microphone on stage. It is highly offensive to classical musicians to have those, thus it is not a good thing for it to be widely known... but since it has been for too long, even the House themselves have to acknoledge it. But obvious they are not doing it as broadway or casually. It must be carefully located evenly over the stage and be invisible, they usually not on the body of the person who are singing. They have to make it sounds natural.
Met has the theatre transmission for decades, it is necessary to do them, but obviously sometime they will also use it to boost the smallness of the voices.
Here is a opera, they publicly admitted it but the excuse is that the dialogue talk is too much, not easy to be heard. And they used quite a few famous Broadway stars to be in the cast:

@@user-py1jg6bb2r When I have a few minutes, I'll send you the entire back-and-forth I did with someone I believe to be a sound engineer. On the basis of all the discussion, I do not believe microphones are used for voice amplification, at least not in major opera houses. They are used, however, for recording purposes, as you might expect. The discussion I had was very long and detailed. There are also links. I will look at your videos. Haven't seen you over on the other place for awhile. I did go there recently, but I've been busy with the "microphones," and some of the videos there are not easy for me to comment on. Surprisingly refined performance for Pav (apart from the horrible breathy attempt at mezza voce...) at least as compared to his stadium-filling, hankie-waving dotage. The voice is still nails on a blackboard for me, though. Gotta have McCormack or Schipa for this song.
dude/dudette Luciano was a lyric tenor. this probably was recorded by him when his voice darkened. to be fair this piece was probably meant to be sung by a female or a castrato.
