Saturn version has far smoother handling with it's 3d controller than the arcade version. Where Saturn's control feels purely analog, the arcade version feels like 0-10% turn is deadzone, 10-30% is a light turn, 30-70% is a medium turn, and 70-100% is a hard turn. The extra sensitive controls of the Saturn port coupled with it's 60fps "smooth mode" and having the original ost + an amazing "arranged" ost make it the best version of the game period, including the recent pc port "Cannonball".
The Saturn version is the arcade version. The Saturn is way more powerful than the Super Scaler Arcade board. It is running the same code with a few tweaks here and there to make it more suitable for home console.
Saturn version was as close as you could get to the arcade aside from putting the cabin in your house. It's a bit upsetting as well though. Saturn essentially did was fans were hoping the Master System and Megadrive should have done.
Saturn is certainly the best version, because you can choose the American and Japanese versions that change the scenery, as well as the absurd Smooth mode, which makes the Saturn version the only version of this game to run in 60 frames Per second
With the arcade version the ferrari is faster! you finished in 1.04 while with the Saturn you finished at 1.05. This is a deal breaker for playing in SegaSaturn.
Well, they're both almost identical. The other comments have said the Saturn runs at a full 60fps. So I guess that makes it the winner. I actually couldn't tell which one had the better frame rate, it was moving so fast, and I was looking really closely because I couldn't notice any other difference.
Oh yeah, I can see the difference much better on that one, still don't see it here. Is smooth mode even turned on for this video? Because I just don't see it.
Look at the game in motion, especially when there's a lot of scenery scrolling alongside. It makes the motion more fluid without taking away the sense of speed.
Must say the Saturn version looks superb and smoother. Probably the best home version (aside from the Switch Sega Ages). Of course Saturn came many years after Outrun was launched so you'd expect home consoles to have caught up! Nevertheless good achievement.
On the main menu of the Sega Saturn version, highlight Options, hold down A and C on your controller and then press Start - you can now change the cornering (how the car's handling behaves around corners and turns) from Arcade to Easy, which I highly recommend.
Saturn is certainly the best version, because you can choose the American and Japanese versions that change the scenery, as well as the absurd Smooth mode, which makes the Saturn version the only version of this game to run in 60 frames Per second
Saturn has analog options. Sega Ages: OutRun supported both the "Arcade Racer" analog steering wheel and the "3D Control Pad" analog gamepad. It did NOT support the "Mission Stick" analog flightstick, but that's probably for the best really.
@CptJistuce excellent. I have it on Xbox "as the unlockable in Outrun 2" .. analog helps a bunch. Even the gas pedal. Instead of timing it right you just hold it mid way for non skid starts. Saves a second or 2.

Werid. The arcade I played on didn't have that shape. It had a more classic looking cabinet with a steering wheel and pedals. Still I prefe the Saturn version
Man if the Saturn would've focused on 2D gaming and 2D gaming only. Well it would still have died early but I would be playing it more today. Imagine if Sonic 1, 2 and 3 came out hyped up for the Saturn, Gunstar Heroes SATURN, Contra Saturn, Final Fight, Golden Axe Saturn and I'm talking the 2D games not the 3D ones. But no, all Sega gave us was mostly crappy 3D garbage. (sigh) Could have been so beautiful, could have been so right.
Ahhh Actraiser 3 on Saturn! Now that would have been something. I remember beating Actraiser, such a touching story. I remember everyone whining about how hard Actraiser 2 was, but it was awesome!!! Maybe the master will return for Actraiser 3 the people certainly need him.
Thing is people wanted all games to be crappy 3D polygon graphics back then on Saturn and same with PS1 - most of those early poly games on both systems just look and more importantly play like garbage these days - yet the sprite based stuff looks awesome still - thats why NeoGeo aged so well - wasn't until Dreamcast that 3D poly games console graphics looked as good as arcade and better than most 2D stuff!
@@alexojideagu I was not talking about the Saturn version actually. I wouldn't expect anything less than stellar for a port of a 80s game to a mid 90s console. I was actually shocked by the 30 FPS in the arcade. My bad, you are right about the Arcade version. Still very surprised that it was locked at 30 FPS.
@@ajsingh4545 Sure I assumed all arcades were 60fps in the 1980s. And I probably wouldn't have noticed if I wasn't told. I always saw things like Space Harrier, Super Hang on and Afterburner as 60fps
Playing the Saturn version with the analog 3D pad was just 👌...sublime.

i agree, the saturn version is also the last official home version with the testarossa

SEGA SATURN IS SUPER ARCADE PERFECT PORTS 👍⚡
Sega Saturn 👍👍👍👍👍 loved it and Sega could have given us fan awesome Arcade games with extras and heaps of bonus features
They are both identical!! but the saturn version is the clear winner due to to extra options........lol
Perfect port...it better be for an old game like this.
Impresionante conversion. Hermoso.
Though the gameplay will never be the same, visually, the Saturn version seems to be a perfect conversion.
The gameplay is the same.... use a steering wheel.

Both are perfect because they are made by the same team!! 😎 ⭐️
A perfect port :) every arcade port should be like this one ;)
Really pleased with this Saturn port. Right on the money.

I'm willing to bet PCs of the era (Windows 95 and 98) could have handled an arcade-perfect version had they been coded.
Perfect. Especially since they still have the Ferrari license for the Saturn port; something more modern ports lack.
OutRun was never licensed by Ferrari, not even the aracde version.

We don´t know when the arcade or saturn version is activated to see the differences on this video

Sega Saturn: Wait what Credits?

Pena que não tivemos ports de turbo out run ou out runners para o Saturn.

Muito bom canal, grande trabalho. Obrigado.
