- Time for a parody of a Queen classic for the New Year! Another one Bites the Dust - another year, that is!
The running joke is that we are scared to say Happy New Year to each other, because it didn't work for 2020, didn't again for 2021 and certainly hasn't gone well since then. Did we jinx things by hoping for a better year each new one? This has been a hard few years for most of us, but unlike in the song, I do hold on to hope that things will be brighter around the world. Let's hope so anyway, and be part of making that happen in our own little ways.

Brilliant! And true. It's astounding how all your characters have their own personalities. You can really see that in your "Menopause Rhapsody". It's funny how so many think those are all different women. 😂 You hold each character's different personality throughout the whole song; right down to the micro expressions. Sparklers is the answer. For those of us who don't love celebrating New Year's Eve. Light them up and dance around for a while. It always cheers me up.

Thank you, Karin. I must say I do like sparklers! We got an unexpected treat a few nights ago - the neighbour let off some fireworks. With our glazing, they're not loud from inside, so the animals stayed happy and we enjoyed the show.

About a year ago I found myself suddenly as a single father when my wife left me and my now 8 year old son. Gone. Poof. I've been through all these feelings during 2022, but gosh darn it, I got to keep the best of our relationship. My son, that I love more than anyting or anyone in my life. Happy new years. Thank you. They do take a truck-load of work, but I don't see 'little' or 'silly' as derogatory - they're short reflections on life and meant to be light-hearted (for the most part.) I love making them and I absolutely love and value that others enjoy them too. That warms my heart! So thank you!

When I was a kid I had this book about what the year 2000 would look like with flying cars and other Jetson era items. Well, there aren't any flying cars going everywhere in our skies. We may have some technology reminiscent of Star Trek like the communicators, stun guns, computers, and holograms/VR. But we still have a long ways to go. People think electric vehicles are the answer to our climate or earth preservation, yet what happens to those batteries when they can no longer hold a charge? Creating the batteries is another matter.

Honestly, I don't think any year can beat the trainwreck that was 2 (almost 3) years ago 😂 I guess that's a positive way to look at it 😂 I mean, this year was pretty average compared to that 😂
I guess it depends on location. This last year was much harder in New Zealand than 2020. Covid was hardly a thing here then, due to our tight lockdowns. But it came in force this year, along with social upset over mandates and other things, rising prices, war in Ukraine and more.
@ Yeah I'm in the US and we didn't really have any major lockdowns here this year... things pretty much went back to normal for the most part 😂 Although this year (6 months ago) I actually did catch the Rona for the first time ever, after managing to avoid it for two years so I personally had to quarantine for like a week 😂

I wonder if the subtle dig at those who hark on about this mythical golden yesteryear was intentional or not. You couldn't pay me enough to go back the last century or whenever this mythical golden age was.
You shouldn't put yourself down by calling your videos silly, there are enough people on the net who will do that for you. Your parodies are funny, which is a good thing.
Thanks for your observations, Dermacrosis. The reference to going back in time was a dig. We face what we face, and nostalgia has a way of making us forget the harder realities we face sometimes.
As for the silly videos, I didn't mean it as a put down. I enjoy making silly videos - I think there's a place for songs about not being able to cook or grumping about getting older. Not major issues at all, but life experiences many of us share. I'm cool with silly. 🤪

Make opportunities call those chores that involve movement play or sneaky exercise
Look for things you can do with your animals that are fun.

Thanks, Linda. The fitness thing is just a line in the song - I'm pretty active, especially now at our new place. I climb a hill multiple times a day to feed and water our chickens, there's a beach for walking at our doorstep and I'll be planting over 20 trees in the next days. In fact, I'll be starting this new year with muscle aches if anything! 😆
@ I thought as much new home to landscape and arrange but I could not resist answering as if the song personified you I thought about what advice that I would give to someone who was caught up in the resolution cycle hence my advice . You will be happy for me I wrote mostly about what I have done for myself …when I am in the kitchen I dance when I am doing laundry I do squats when the snow falls I go out and play in the snow cleaning the sidewalk,driveway and parking area building mountains four days of consecutive snow so far I have foot hills😂 I am lucky with the changes that I have made both in diet and lifestyle I don’t suffer from the arthritic pain I once had . In my seventies I have more energy than I thought possible .this morning when I looked at the snow I thought sneaky exercise opportunity I got dressed took my eye meds had a glass of green tea put lamb chops in a slow oven set the timer and by the time I finished putting my boots on it was 18 hours since my last meal and I expected to eat in another two hours I wasn’t hungry had enough energy that I completed the job and came in from a lovely day in the Maritimes to cook the rest of my feast. . I hope that you are working smarter not harder planting trees sounds like a great thing to do my first impulse would be to check the internet for advice to avoid ending up in pain. I can hear you sing another one bites the dust as the tree is planted. I wonder how big the root balls are how big the holes are and I have too many questions and I must say I don’t need answers I if I had my druthers would prefer that you grab a cat and read a Christmas story with a cat in it😂🤷🏼♀️🌟🖖🍀👍🌟🤶👋🙋🏼♀️👍
